Choi Jong-In is a major supporting character in the Korean action fantasy manhwa and light novel series, Solo Leveling. He is a S-rank hunter from Korea and the leader of the Hunters Guild.
He was voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa in Japanese and Ian Sinclair in English.
Appearance[]
Choi is a tall young man with crimson-coloured ear-length hair. He wears dark-framed glasses and is often seen in formal attire. During battles in dungeons, he sported luxurious bronze armour with a red cape attached behind and orned with eight rings.
With the revised timeline, Choi didn't age one day, standing exactly the same as the old self. Wearing his old self's red cape, he is dressed with a full black suit down to his glasses.
Personality[]
Choi has a calm demeanour and is openly positive. Mostly remaining undisturbed he is good at noticing small details.
In the revised timeline, Choi is still most of his quirky self as he wonders aloud why Suho, if he had just saved these people, never showed himself to them, but he's a bit more concerned with the civilians now.
Powers and Abilities[]
Choi is known as the strongest Korean S-rank mage-type hunter and has been stated to be at least somewhere near Baek Yoonho's physical capabilities but is outranked by Cha Hae-In.
- Fire Magic: Choi's magic has been stated to be destructive enough to wipe out an entire building simply by unleashing a single attack. He has also been shown to incinerate a gigantic troop of insect and earth-type magical beasts within just a short amount of time.
- Flame Spears: Choi can generate spears made of flames to be fired at his targets.
- Flame Prison: Nets are formed, which can be used for defensive and counterattacks. At some point, he also mentioned that this is durable enough to imprison the magical beast of B-ranks.
- Flame Dragon: A close-range attack that summons a fire-whirling pillar is summoned with the head of a dragon at the end, that ignites his targets.
- High Reflexes and Speed: Compared to hunters that entered the Double Dungeon earlier at the start of the series, Choi can be shown to be quick enough to the light-speed beam attack of the dungeon's boss, the Statue of God.
