Chop is a supporting character of the 2013 open world video-game Grand Theft Auto V and a minor character in its follow-up multiplayer Grand Theft Auto Online. He is Lamar's and later Franklin's pet dog.
Overview[]
Chop is a Rottweiler originally owned by Lamar and would later live with Franklin. As of The Contracts update, Chop still lives with Franklin. While not on a mission, Franklin can hang out with Chop like friends, who would take a seat in whatever enclosed ground vehicle he's in. Franklin can also throw tennis balls to play fetch, and much like how he works during missions, Chop can locate certain hidden items or even attack whoever Franklin asks him to. Chop's happiness allows him to obey Franklin's commands if at sufficiently high levels. If Chop is "killed", his happiness drops, but he will respawn at his crib normally.
Appearances[]
- Chop: Lamar introduced Chop to Franklin, and they head in Lamar's Speedo to abduct Ballas member D. Chop ends up humping a dog and was sidetracked, but Franklin gets him back on task, and they find D. After this mission, Lamar would call Franklin to take in Chop, as he fears for trouble on him and Chop.
- Hood Safari: Chop, Trevor, Lamar and Franklin head to a drug deal set up by Stretch. When Trevor reveals the shipment was a counterfeit product, an intense gunfight occurs between the Ballas, the three men and the LSPD. Franklin orders Chop to leave immediately, and he escapes on his own safely.
- Predator: Trevor convinces Franklin to help hunting down the O'Neil brothers, so Franklin brings Chop along car and chases them in a Baller. When Elwood's rockets prevent Michael and Trevor from getting a clean hit on him, Franklin follows Chop's lead to Elwood and kills him. Trevor then lands the helicopter and fly them to the airfield, where Franklin, Chop and Michael leave in another Baller.

- Lamar uses Chop as his contact avatar.
- Unlike any other friend in Grand Theft Auto V, Chop does not deduct any money from the protagonist if he "dies".
- Chop will chase and fetch grenades in Grand Theft Auto V as he cannot distinguish them from tennis balls, which will often wound or "kill" him.
