~ Old Bird to Samus |
The Chozo are the overarching protagonists in the Metroid franchise. They are a species of bird like aliens who inhabited various planets such as Zebes, Tallon IV, Elysia, SR388, and ZDR. When they received a distress call from the colony K-2L, they only found a three-year-old orphan named Samus Aran, who survived the attack by the Space Pirates that were led by Ridley. They take her under their care and subsequently take her to Zebes where she grew up and received their DNA to help her adjust to the harsh environment Zebes had.
Culture[]
The Chozo culture has been shown to be peaceful most of the time. They cherished knowledge of the universe around them whole-heartedly. They passionately explore new planets while searching for scientific and technological advancements to better their lives and the people around outside their own kind along with their primal shamanistic wisdom. The combination of both spiritualism and technology has been a defining trait of the Chozo, a stark contrast to when they were once proud warriors. It was common for the Chozo to share their wisdom with those not in their species, whether they are not as advanced or are as advanced as they are. They have settled on various planets without the need to take it by force or attacking the inhabitants. They speak in their native Chozo Language and often carry the habit of recording their history through art and writing which would feature various events.
Trivia[]
- In the Metroid manga, Old Bird states that Chozo are unable to fly as they lost their wings long ago. However, this is contradicted in the game Metroid Dread as Raven Beak has shown to have wings and is capable of flight.
