Christine Brown is the main protagonist of the film 2009 horror film, Drag Me To Hell.

She was portrayed by Alison Lohman, who also played Katy McLaughlin in Flicka.

Biography[]

Christine Brown is, a New Orleans bank employee who's angling to get an assistant manager position, but first needs to prove that she can make the tough decisions. Enter Mrs. Ganush, a gypsy in an advanced stage of decrepitude, asking for yet another loan extension on her mortgage. Christine reluctantly denies the extension, leaving Mrs. Ganush begging on her knees. Later, Christine is attacked in the bank parking garage by a surprisingly spry Mrs. Ganush and stricken with a gypsy curse. Christine seeks out a local psychic, who tells her that she has three days of torment and suffering to endure before a demon called the Lamia will seek her out and drag her to hell. It becomes a race against time as Christine looks for a way to avoid her fate.

Personality[]

Christine is a generally responsible, ambitious, and kind. However, she was still in hot water as she has been the target of the gypsy curse. Scared and desperate to avoid the worst fate imaginable, Christine’s commitment, strength of character, and resourcefulness will be tested in the next 72 hours as she tries to stay one step ahead of the devil.

  • Ellen Page was originally casted in the role, but dropped out to star in Whip It.
  • On her way to the cemetery, Christine says "I'm gonna get some", which is a reference to Ash Williams' line "Come get some" in The Evil Dead series.
  • There are theories that Christine has an eating disorder, due to there being scenes of her looking longingly at deserts, and references to food.
