Chug is a supporting protagonist from Disney's Planes duology. Chug is a fuel truck who co-owns Chug and Dottie's Fill 'n Fly with his best friend Dottie.

He was voiced by Brad Garrett who also voices Bloat In Finding Nemo, Dim In A Bug's Life and Aguste Gustaeu in Ratatoullie.

Biography[]

Planes[]

After Dusty's work time is over, he calls Chug under the Strut Jetstream alias who was helping out with the corn fuel. He proceeds to practice with Chug's instructions when he starts to leak oil as a result of his speed, much to Dottie's concerns for the safety of Dusty since it coud lead to him crashing as he is not built to race.

Soon, Dusty and Chug watch the Top Ten Crashes of All Time where they watch various planes crash. Later, Chug takes Dusty to see Skipper who does not believe the latter to be fit for racing, similarly to Dottie.

Later Chug heads to the time trial place with Dusty and Dottie where they come across Ripslinger, a self-promoting plane. They then watch as nine other planes take part in the trial as most of them succeed while others fail.

When Dusty succeeds in his turn, he ends up sixth place behind Donzarelli. However, Roper arrives in Propwash Junction to notify Dusty and Chug that Fonzarelli was disqualified for illegal fuel intake which is an instant disqualification meaning Dusty is qualified for the global rally.

Early in the morning, Chug watches as Skipper trains Dusty for the upcoming race. Dottie also applies modifications to help Dusty win the practice race. Later after Dusty talks with the racers, Chug watches Dusty being entered into the starting line while selling Dusty-based merchandise.

Partway into the race, Chug watches Dusty as he guides a malfunctioning Bulldog to safety where he receives the treatment he needed for his wounds. After Dusty discards his sprayer following the talk with El Chupacapra and Franz, Chug watches as Dusty advances through the race.

Soon, as Chug shows off new mugs based on Dusty, he learns about Dusty discarding his sprayer and heading off to the himalayas next for the next race. Following the events at the Himalyas, Chug and Dottie reveal that they are heading to Mexico following the sales of the Dusty merch.

Following Dusty's failed attempt to get to the land alone and subsequently rescued, Chug watches as he is taken to the emrgency room. Following Dusty's fallout with Skipper, Chug watches a video during Dusty's repairs and realises something was off with Ripslinger and tells this to Dusty before his return to the race.

Following Dusty winning the race, Chug is among the many vehicles congrautating Dusty for his victory.

Planes: Fire and Rescue[]

Following Dusty's gearbox malfunctioning in the middle of training, Chug checks on him and informs him that the fuel was fine. It was imediately discovered that Dusty's gear box was malfunctioning and has to back off on the torque.

Later at Honkers, Chugs tells Dusty that they might have found a replacement gearbox he also objects to Leadbottom belief about Dusty going back to cropdusting when the latter left to test his limits.

When Dusty tried to slowdown before his gearbox gets destroyed, he ends up putting the Fill 'n Fly on fire by accident, leading to him alerting everyone about the fire. When Sparky was sent flying from trying to stop Mayday's hose from leaking, Chug catches him and joins in on pulling down the watertower to put the fire out.

The fire puts Propwash Junction in hot water with Ryker of TMST who was angry at how out of date the firefighting equipment was. Ryker then strips the airport's certification of operation until Mayday can get refurbished and a second firefighting vehicle is hired.

Soon, Chug sees Dusty fly off to Piston Peak National Park to try and be certified to be Propwash's second firefighter. Later when Skipper calls Dusty, Chug and Sparky express excitement that the gearbox will be shipped out tonight.

However, the crate containing it later turned out to have been mislabeled and no matter what Chug and company did, they could not find a new gearbox for Dusty. Following the events at Piston Peak, Dusty's repairs by Maru, Mayday's refurbishment, and Propwash's re-opening, Chug arrives to tell Dusty that he has been crowned the official Corn Colonel with Sparky as his private Nibblet.

At the festival, Chug announces the arrival of the firefighting team of Piston Peak and Dusty Crophopper as they partake in the festival.

Trivia[]

  • Chug appears to be some old late 1940s Chevrolet truck judging by the shape of his grille.
  • Jack Black, Rowan Atkinson, Joe Pesci, Steve Carell, and John C. Reilly were all considered for the role as Chug before Brad Garrett was chosen.
