No, I didn't have a hard time aborting, dude. I had a hard time meeting guys like you. I perfectly know what they're capable of. But you don't know what I'm capable of. And you're the one who's f--king affecting María. Don't you ever come near her again, okay? It's about time you took ownership of your toxic masculinity.
~ Claudia to Pablo about María

Claudia is a major character of the Netflix thriller teen drama series Control Z, serving as an unseen pivotal character of the first season, a major protagonist of the second season and one of the tritagonists of the third season.

She is portrayed by Ana Sofía Gatica.

Biography[]

Background[]

At some point, Claudia got pregnant from a student at Colegio Nacional and later aborted the baby. During the NONA party, she was among the students whose secrets were leaked by Raúl León, who was exposed as the hacker. She later met María, who shared the same situation as Claudia after Isabela ends fer friendship with her and Pablo ditches her, so they quickly became the best of friends, which made Rosita and some other students notice the strangeness of this due to Claudia being a senior student.

Season Two[]

Claudia often sticks with María, supporting her in every way she can with her tough situation with both Pablo and her former best friend Isabela, who has left the school after Raúl was exposed as the hacker. Pablo, feeling desperate to win María back, cannot hide the jealousy and hatred he has for Claudia, believing her to be a 'bad influence' for María, when Pablo himself actually is due to his previous behaviour, yet he refuses to acknowledge that. Pablo and Claudia have a tense encounter, in which he warns her to stay away from María. Although he doesn't judge her for aborting, Pablo remarkingly states that it isn't for him and laments how she's been having a hard time with it, with Claudia proving him wrong by making it clear that she had a hard time meeting jerks like him and knows perfectly what they're capable of, but Pablo doesn't know what Claudia is capable of. She brushes off his threats and tells Pablo to sort out his toxic masculinity.

María overdoses at Rosita's birthday party, due to the Avenger tampering with a bottle of wine, and is hospitalized, later discharged. By that time, Pablo had already found out that she had aborted the baby, leading him to believe that Claudia talked her into that, which María denies, stating that Claudia, unlike him, has been supporting her a lot, at which point Claudia arrives by chance and asks if everything is okay; María says that Pablo was leaving. The two have a talk, in which María feels guilty for having kept the abortion a secret from Pablo, knowing how much he's been suffering after Isabela left him, but Claudia says that he deserved it after his unfair treatment of her. After María and Natalia unsuccessfully try to get money to pay off some drug dealers Natalia owes bigger debts to, to no avail, María shares her worries about this to Claudia since they're threatening to kill her if the demands aren't met and Claudia comforts her. María kisses Claudia but is immediately ashames and abruptly leaves, despite Claudia telling her it's fine, but nevertheless starts avoiding her. She meets again with Pablo, who tries to grab her, but Claudia defends herself by kicking him in the balls, causing Pablo to groan in pain and ask her what her problem is; Claudia apologizes. Pablo looks somewhat offended by this and says he only came to the school looking for Raúl, whom Pablo has been beating up ever since his return to the school because of his actions as the hacker. Claudia lets him know he isn't there and asks him what else is he willing to risk (aside from his suspension from school) if he continues with this attitude. Pablo states that he is not done with him yet, referring to Raúl as "that as--ole".

During nightfall, after María is informed that her sister Natalia has been kidnapped for failing to pay the bigger debts she owed to the drug dealers (who threaten to harm Natalia if the police gets involved), she starts crying and Pablo asks her what's wrong. Just then, Claudia arrives and snaps at Pablo, believing he was bothering her again until María lets Claudia know about her sister's kidnapping. Pablo then drives them over to the school, where both María and Claudia attempt to break open Luis's locker with a fire extinguisher, where Raúl's money is hidden and was previously stolen from him by the Avenger (later revealed to be Alex) and could save Natalia's life. María tries to talk about the kiss to Claudia, who insists that she doesn't have to explain herself to her; María says she was afraid of losing her. Then they are caught by Susana demanding to know what are they doing. Javier's yelling attracts their attention and leads the trio up the roof where Javier holds Raúl at gunpoint, demanding the money as well to save Natalia. It turns out that Javier had tipped them off beforehand. Sofía, Javier, María, Raúl, Claudia and Susana get into a scuffle over the money, resulting in Susana falling off the roof to her apparent death, while she, Alex, Javier and Gerry look on in horror.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, Claudia wasn't meant to be introduced in the second season. However, due to Zión Moreno departing the series shortly after it was renewed to appear in the Gossip Girl reboot (and she was even present with the rest of the cast in a videocall due to the COVID-19 pandemic during the announcement), this changed when Isabela dropped out of the school sometime after the hacker was exposed in the first season. Furthermore, with Isabela ending her friendship with María after learning that she has been sleeping with her ex-boyfriend Pablo, Claudia's introduction was to give María a new female friend who she could lean on for support after learning that she was pregnant with him.
