Clyde is a supporting character in the YouTube animated series Ratboy Genius. He is a laid-back person who is friends with Ratboy Genius and his friends, while also being friends with the villainous Little King John.
Appearance[]
Clyde has a humanoid body, but his head resembles a crustacean of some kind. He has light magenta skin and four long fingers resembling a claw on each arm. He usually wears a green jumpsuit, but in Starship Genius he wears a purple one.
Personality[]
Clyde loves to "chill out". When he saw Ratboy Genius extremely stressed due to Summer Solstice Baby being kidnapped, Clyde recommended to him that before he continued his search, he should also "chill out" by riding the roller coaster. His hobby is playing the keytar.
He has on occasion expressed a lack of concern for alarming situations, laughing when Ratboy Genius told him that Little King John had kidnapped Summer Solstice Baby, merely finding humor in John being a "dope". Regardless, he did give Ratboy advice on where to go and who to meet to continue his search, wished Ratboy Genius good fortune, and said goodbye by giving him a hug, indicating that at the end of the day, Clyde is benevolent.
He is selfless and courageous, willing to give up everything to drive the Starship Genius to the creation of the Minecraft Dimension, causing him to live millions of years in that dimension's past. Regardless, he has hope he will see his friends again.
Biography[]
Ratboy Genius Dreams Minecraft[]
When Ratboy Genius' dream transported him and his friends to the Minecraft Dimension, Clyde was seemingly transported along with him, as he was transported back to Ratboy's Kingdom at the end of the dream. Alternatively, he could be from the Minecraft Dimension but still got transported to Ratboy's somehow.
Clyde met Ratboy Genius in a minecart stopping station when Ratboy arrived at the station, while Clyde was hanging out by some bookshelves nearby the tracks. Ratboy asked Clyde how to find Little King John, who was keeping Summer Solstice Baby captive. He advised Ratboy to decompress and de-stress by riding on a roller coaster before Clyde helped him.
After the roller coaster ride, he pointed Ratboy in the direction of the Professor, who would tell Ratboy about what he needs to do. They said goodbye and parted ways.
While Little King John sang a song lamenting Summer Solstice running away from him, Clyde played the keytar as backup music, but at the same time cheered her escape and rooted for her, much to John's chagrin. Ratboy and Summer Solstice flew past Clyde and he waved to them.
Starship Genius[]
Clyde was part of the crew of the Starship Genius, serving as the ship's commander. He was in charge of the ship's systems. He learned from the Professor that the Big Fish Boss had created Fish Legions and was planning to conduct enough electricity (dubbed "the Final Charge") to destroy the galaxy and rule it with his legions. The crew devised a plan to prevent this from occurring.
When the final battle came around, Clyde's mission was, after everyone else had evacuated, to drive the Starship Genius into a portal which would transport him and the ship into the Minecraft Dimension back in time, to the dimension's origin, taking the Final Charge with him. The Final Charge would contain enough energy to create that dimension. Ratboy Genius was sad that he may never see Clyde again. Clyde assured him that they will see each other again, then the plan was carried out.
Everything went according to plan. Clyde was present at the birth of the Minecraft Dimension, along with a newly born Caterpillar Minister. The two danced together in celebration. At some point during this time, he dropped Ratboy's tin flute, which he had taken with him, on the ground next to the Starship Genius. This prompted Little King John and Old Froggy to go looking for it.
