Columbina, also known as Kuutar, The Damselette, the Third of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, the Moon Maiden, and the New Moon, is a major protagonist and antiheroine of the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact. She is an artificial lifeform and the surrogate daughter of the original Goddess of the Frost Moon, Hurrekuutar.
Columbina was originally the Third of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, a group of influential and powerful individuals who acted as the chief lieutenants of the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya. Codenamed "Damselette," she was an enigmatic woman who inspired weariness in even her fellow Harbingers. She retired from the Fatui when she learned that they sought her power and returned to her birthplace, Nod-Krai, and hid herself in Hiisi Island, where she was worshipped as the patron deity (possibly an Archon herself) of the Frostmoon Scions and protected by its leader, Lauma.
Damselette is voiced by Menglu Yang in Chinese, by Emi Lo in English, and by Lynn in Japanese. Lo has also voiced Lucyna Kushinada in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX in Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries, Ruan Mei from Honkai: Star Rail, Suma from Demon Slayer, Destiny in Takt Op Destiny, Michiru Inukai in Talentless Nana, Young Kage from Ranking King, and Miri Unasaka from Buddy Daddies, Lynn has also voiced Rio Tsukatsuki in Blue Archive.
Appearance[]
Columbina is a young woman who has pale skin, long black hair with pink red purple, and light pink eyes (possibly unseen), She wears a angelic ribbon wing, an x-shape ribbon, an x-shape ground ber eye, two white ribbons on her hum a white, indigo-blue dress with sleeve shoulder, a blue gem on her chest, and bare feet with using water manipulation to keep a gravity balance.
Personality[]
At first, Columbina was utterly unconcerned by the events that transpired around her at any given time, and was seemingly oblivious and uninterested in the pointless political manoeuvring that the entirety of the Fatui committed themselves to. During the funeral of La Signora, she was one of the few Harbingers who didn't take the time to bicker among her peers, instead choosing to lay on Signora's coffin and hum to herself without a concern.
Moments later upon learning that the Fatui plans steal her lunar powers for themselves, Columbina would later experience a change of heart, leading to her retirement from the Fatui and return to her birthplace where she takes the role as the Goddess of the New Moon. Although this seemingly makes her calm and sympathetic towards others who are respecting her divine presence (such as the Frostmoon Scions, Traveler, and Paimon), Columbina has a personal fatal flaw: her anxiety from interpersonal conflicts. Despite possessing numerous names and titles from both the Frostmoon Scions and the Fatui, she tells the Traveler that they may address her by whichever one they please, as she does not feel that she belongs to either group.
She is also shown to be shy person as seen when she sent the kuuhenki's broken items to Aino's workshop for repair without being detected (apart from Traveler and Paimon), although she unintentionally terrorized her until Paimon explained the situation to her. When she does accidently cross paths with Ineffa and Aino during the fourth Selenic Chronicle she instantly hides behind the Traveler and can hardly utter a few words for the rest of the exchange.
Synopsis[]
Birth of the New Moon Goddess[]
The Idol of the New Moon, based on Kuutar's likeness, carved by Moonchanter Aila in 500 years ago.
Kuutar was born within the Sanctum of the Oathbearer around five-hundred years ago, in a fulfillment of the prophecy stating that a new Goddess of the Frost Moon would one day be born. She doesn't remember the circumstances of her birth, aside from a particular song that was sung, which she would hum periodically. Her birth was witnessed by Aila, one of the grandchildrens of Lovia, and she subsequently agreed with the Frostmoon Scions. During her time as the Frostmoon Scions, they cared more for having desires granted by Kuutar, rather than seeing Kuutar herself as a person. During that time, the Frostmoon Scions was under the reign of the infamous archpriestess Lovia, who wanted her the "destined heir of Elysium" from the Moon Goddess, by committing heinous crimes. Upon realizing she could no longer answer their prayers, she left the Frostmoon Scions & joined the Fatui as the third-ranked Harbinger as Columbina (aka "Damselette"), where the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya offered her a second home.
While being part of the Fatui Harbingers, both Tartaglia and Scaramouche saw Columbina to be the dangerous person, as they both warns The Traveler upon their encounter, while she's naive and oblivious to her surroundings no matter the situation. She was simply kept within Snezhnaya without do much aside helping Il Dottore in his kuuvahki-related projects, which she quickly lost interest in. Nonetheless, she would appreciate some of the other harbingers' company, particularly Sandrone. The Damselette is seemingly on a good term with Arlecchino, who used to frequently creep up on her and isn't being very much wary about Columbina, and Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter, known as La Signora, who taught to express gratitude of others. Nonetheless, she was never sent to retrieve any Gnoses from the Archons of the six other nations. Columbina a.k.a. "Damselette" was the Third of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, a group of powerful men and women who commanded the Fatui. The Fatui were a military faction who governed over the nation Snezhnaya and followed the Cryo Archon, the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya, in her quest to overthrow the Heavenly Principles.
Before becoming a Fatui Harbinger, she was called Kuutar and was worshipped by the Frostmoon Scions for over 500 years. She is also called “The Moon Maiden”, or “The New Goddess”.
Funeral for The Fair Lady[]
At some point after Scaramouche obtained the Electro Gnosis and cut off the contact with the Fatui, Damselette, alongside the other Harbingers, gathered in a cathedral in Snezhnaya for the funeral of La Signora, the Eighth Fatui Harbinger, who had been executed by the Electro Archon Beelzebul during a failed Fatui plot in the nation of Inazuma. As the other Harbingers talked and bickered among themselves, Columbina rested on her fallen comrade's coffin and hummed her a commemorative melody. Pierro, the Director of the Fatui, proceeded to silence the gathered Harbingers and made a speech in Signora's memory as her coffin was encased in ice. After the funeral, Columbina conversed with the Second Harbinger Il Dottore and learned that he was working on a plot involving "blasphemy."
Palestar Edict[]
Columbina would soon leave the Fatui upon learning that their plan in seeking her power as the Moon Goddess and return to Nod-Krai so she can have her power back. This forced the Tsaritsa to issue the "Palestar Edict", with one of the directives of this decree being to prioritize her return to Snezhnaya no matter the cost.
Damselette would later take refuge in Silvermoon Hall in Nod-Krai, hiding from the Fatui and encountering the Traveler. Having spent most of her power for the Tsaritsa, she meets Lauma, the representative and Priestess of the Frostmoon Scions, who aids in hiding her. Columbina explains that the Wild Hunt is led by the "Racher of Solnari", Rerir, one of the Five Sinners of Khaenriah, who is likely seeking the Moon Marrow.

Powers & Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Lunar Deity Physiology: Since she was derived from Huurrekuutar as the current Goddess of the Frost Moon, Columbina can use the following powers:
- Lunakinesis/Kuuvahki: Columbina uses lunar power, also known as "Kuuvahki", a pure, primordial form of elemental energy originating from the moons. In essence, it is the power of the light realm, and it is one of the most ancient and primordial form of elemental energy, just like a beam of light that can be split into seven colors, it is the light before dispersion takes place.
- Immortality: Because she was a goddess, Columbina is considered immortal and currently living for over 500 years, and she also cannot be killed through conventional methods.
- Teleportation: While Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins, The Traveler, and Sandrone were fighting Rerir and before they would be killed by him, Columbina all teleported them to safety by sending them into the Silvermoon Hall.
- Absolute Elemental Manipulation: Columbina can use the seven elements of Teyvat, even enhancing them with Kuuvahki. She can also use water to make a heel/shoe to walk with.
Abilities[]
- Political Influence (Formerly): When she was one of the Eleven Fatui Harbinger, Columbina was invested with nigh-unlimited executive authority by the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya. With the political and economical power invested in her, Damselette could call upon almost any resource in furtherance of the goal of the Fatui. She could command the authority of any Fatuus who weren't themselves Harbingers, and presumably wielded unquestionable authority in Snezhnaya. Additionally, her official position as a Snezhnayan diplomat meant that she could not be prosecuted in foreign nations without significant political tension being caused. She later no longer carry this influence ever since her retirement from the Fatui, this is likely due to her change of heart after witnessing their secret plan to steal her powers.
- Absolute Body Condition: To be added
- Transcendental Strength: Due to her divine powers, she had been stated by The Wanderer that her power is very strong and is fearsome. However, it is noted that Columbina's strength was above an average Allogene as of now, meaning that her power is still incomplete and was yet to achieve the level equal to or beyond that of an Archon. (see Weaknesses below)
Weaknesses[]
- Anxiety: To be added
- Power Strain: As mentioned above, Columbina made an unspecified promise to the Tsaritsa that uses too much of her divine power. Though the limit for this cause remains unknown, she needs to rely on immediate recovery. In addition, this weakness was what lead to many in the Fatui sought to steal her powers and strip away of her divinity, which could lead her to death.

Trivia[]
- The etymology of figures, places, and concepts related to Nod-Krai were derived from the various stories of European folklore. In Finnish mythology, "Kuutar," meaning "lady moon," was the name of a goddess of the Moon who wove clothes out of golden yarn and was the mother of bees and wasps.
- The codenames and titles of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers were derived from stock characters in commedia dell'arte, a form of traditional Italian pantomime theater characterized by its masked characters that represented fixed social types. "Columbina," meaning "little dove," was the name of the intelligent, gossipy, and rational lover of the clown Pierrot. She was often depicted as having an affair with the trickster Harlequin, breaking Pierrot's heart in the process.
- Like most Fatui Harbingers, Columbina was first depicted in the "Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter's Night Lazzo" online video before any appearance in game. Damselette was the only Harbinger not mentioned in game or in any other form of media prior to the release of the video.
- The melody Columbina was singing during the funeral of the Eighth Harbinger was a rendition of the melodies of "Chrysalis Suspirii" and "Saltatio Favillae," both of which were Signora's theme songs.
- Columbina's visual design was reminiscent of a seraph, a type of angelic being depicted in Abrahamic religions. The seraphim were six-winged angels associated with the concepts of light, purity, and ardour that flew around the throne of God chanting hymns. In Christianity, they were described as possessing the highest order in the celestial hierarchy that ranked the types of angels in terms of power and authority.
- Columbina is hinted to be the 'true' seventh and final member of The Seven because of her own Statue of the Seven in Nod-Krai. Whether she was forcefully dethroned by the Cryo Archon or did it on purpose in the past is currently unknown.
- Unlike the previous Fatui Harbingers, she doesn't have an introduction title card. This is due to her resignation from the Fatui which took place before the events in Nod-Krai.
