The Global Allied Fleet Commander is a minor character in the manga and anime Attack on Titan. He is a Marleyan navy commander and later the leader of the quickly assembled allied fleet, which consists of numerous nations that became a part of the Global Alliance. The Commander is tasked to lead humanity's last collective defense against the Rumbling. As a high-ranking official of the Marleyan military entrusted with commanding a global fleet, he presumably ranks as either an Admiral or Vice Admiral.
Appearance[]
The Commander appeared to be an older man of average height with grey hair and a short beard that connected to a long mustache. He had olive-colored eyes with thick eyebrows.
He wore a black Marleyan navy Service dress with a life jacket over it. While also wearing white gloves and a black service cap that had the Marleyan emblem on it.
Personality[]
The Commander appeared to be firm in the face of adversity, understanding the grim situation that humanity is under, yet is fairly hopeful knowing the strength that the Global Allied Fleet possess. He overall appeared to be serious and thoughtful, only becoming more worried from the fleets’ lack of progress against the Wall Titans. Considering the man’s important position, its assumed that he was a loyal and trusted official in the Marleyan military.
Story[]
Past[]
Most of the man’s past is unknown, only that he was a resident of Marley and became a member of his nation’s military. He would eventually earn a high-ranking position in Marley’s navy division, although it is unknown if he directly participated in many of Marley’s wars against different nations. As a Navy leader, it is likely that he was involved with the four-year long sea conflict of the Marley Mid-East War.
Marley arc[]
After the formation of the Global Alliance after the festival in the Marleyan city of Liberio, it is unknown if the Commander was tasked to become a part of the “Scorched Earth Operation” on Paradis Island. If he would have had a part in that mission, it wouldn’t be put into action after the devastating result of the failed raid on Shiganshina.
War for Paradis Arc[]
After Eren Yeager successfully took control of the Founding Titan, he activated the Rumbling, causing all the Titans inside the Walls of Paradis Island to start marching towards the outside world in order to completely wipe out all terrestrial life on the rest of the planet.
The Commander would be quickly mobilized to lead the world’s strongest Fleet to the Marleyan city of Karifa, assembling a defensive blockade along the northeast shore of Marley, each warship carrying the most advanced artillery on the planet. He’s seen standing with his fellow Marleyan navy captains and soldiers on their warship. He reflects on humanity's troubled state of existence as he looks at a gigantic smoke cloud with his binoculars erupting from the sea coming at them at high speed. He reasserts the position he and the rest are in, knowing that the world’s strongest warships have gathered and that all of humanity now has collective enemy to put their sights towards. While the responsibility is heavy, they know that all of humanity will perish in the Rumbling if they would lose.
The Commander holds the signal and waits for the steam cloud to come closer before they can launch their attack, when it does reach the fleet’s area of fire. The Commander shouts the order and all warships begin shooting towards the steam cloud. Numerous shells hit the swimming Wall Titans as they are broken apart from the explosions. The Commander watches from afar but is shocked we he notices that many Wall Titans continue swimming towards them. They continue shooting projectiles at the Titans but the overwhelming number of them makes the entire counterattack seem futile. The steam cloud draws closer and closer until the Wall Titans finally pass the warships, including the one where the Commander is on. He looks on as the steam cloud envelops him and the rest of the soldiers, he is then brutally yet swiftly scorched to death as the extreme heat of the steam burns him to the bone. Whatever was left of the Commander's corpse would be lost as the ship he was on was blown away from the Wall Titans emerging underneath the ships.
