Biography[]
Season 9[]
Connie first appeared when she and her group were rescued by Judith Grimes while escaping a walker herd. They eventually arrived at Alexandria and faced mixed reactions from the residents. Despite some tensions, they were allowed to stay temporarily. Later, they continued their journey to the Hilltop Colony. During their travels, they had to confront a hoard of walkers they previous encountered in Washington. However, because they were unprepared to face such a big threat again, much of their belongings and one of their group members were lost. Their initial welcome at Hilltop was tentative. Their fate, and whether they’d be fully accepted and embraced as members of the community, was up in the air also. Around this time, Connie met Carol.
In Hilltop, they faced adversity, from residents and external threats to the community at large, especially when Alpha and her Whisperers arrived at Hilltop demanding her daughter, Lydia, be returned to her. Connie decided to hide in the cornfield to avoid detection. Connie watched Alpha's actions from afar, including when she order one of her Whisperers to leave a crying baby to the walkers. Connie managed to save the baby, which inadvertently caused more conflict and tension with the Whisperers. Daryl intervened, however, and Connie’s group was able to enter back into Hilltop safely.
Connie and Daryl teamed up to search for Lydia and her boyfriend Henry, who snuck out of Hilltop and into the woods. During their search, they encounter a hoard of walkers. They devised a plan to separate the Whisperers from the walkers. After successfully escaping the Whisperers, Connie, Daryl, Henry, and Lydia decided to go to Alexandria, with Connie suggesting Lydia come with them. Connie, Daryl, Henry, and Lydia arrived at Alexandria, where Michonne expressed skepticism about Lydia’s loyalty to their communities, believing her to still be an agent for Alpha. Later, During a fair that was being held at The Kingdom, Connie expressed gratitude to Michonne for her help. She also had a heartfelt reunion with her sister, Kelly. At the Kingdom, Connie listened to Siddiq's speech about the tragic events that had occurred.
Season 10[]
Connie and the Coalition created a militia to train the community residents for future threats. They conduct beach training and assist with fishing nets. Connie notices signs of affection between Kelly and Daryl as the two get along very well. This sparks a connection between Connie and Daryl. Despite difficulties communicating with her due to her deafness, Daryl is very kind and accepting of her, and willing to go the extra mile to learn ASL to talk with her, which Connie finds enduring. Later on when a satellite from space crashes in a nearby forest sparking a widespread forest fire, they help extinguish the fire, but in the process cross Alpha's border, breaking a peace treaty between them, The Kingdom, Alexandria, and the Hilltop. They fight off walkers, and salvage parts from the fallen satellite. A few weeks later, Kelly mysteriously disappears and Connie searches for her with Daryl. They find Kelly in the woods, miles from home, with stolen food and other supplies. Kelly expresses her frustration at slowing losing her hearing like Connie did. Connie reassured her and suggests lying about the supplies she took. Kelly later apologizes to Daryl for stealing and considers him family.
During a mission to find a walker horde, Connie joins the group and crosses Alpha’s border. When they chase Alpha into a dark building, Connie and the others follow. However, they fall into a trap and find themselves surrounded by walkers. In a dire situation, Connie and Magna become trapped in a cave after an explosion caused by TNT goes off. Magna returns to Hilltop without Connie, uncertain of her fate. Eventually, Virgil finds Connie alive near Oceanside.
Season 11[]
Connie is found alive by Keith, a surviving Whisperer, while her friends continue to search for her. Kelly manages to locate an abandoned camp, revealing that Connie had been chased by an unknown group and trapped with walkers before escaping. Connie and Virgil hide from a walker hoard in an old house and are ambushed by cannibalistic survivors. They managed to escape and survive by covering themselves in walker guts and sneaking through a horde of walkers. Kelly arrives in time to rescue them. They return to Alexandria in the midst of a powerful storm.
Connie helps defend Alexandria when a hoard enters due to a damaged wall. She and the group repair the wall and eliminate the hoard, and she reunites with Daryl. However, with Alexandra having endured damages beyond repair due to the powerful storm, its residents seek shelter and eventually move to the Commonwealth. In the Commonwealth, Connie becomes a journalist with Kelly as her interpreter. She exposes corruption and helps plan an uprising against Governor Pamela Milton. Connie is captured due to her attempted whistleblowing, but is later rescued. Her efforts are proven successful as the Milton family is eventually removed from power.
A year later, Connie still lives in the Commonwealth and works as a reporter, determined to keep the new administration honest.
Personality[]
Connie is a smart and experienced survivor who happens to be deaf. She uses her heightened senses to read people and situations, giving her an edge in the post-apocalyptic world. She communicates with her group and others using American Sign Language (ASL), which she sees as an advantage because it doesn't attract walkers. Many of her friends, including Daryl, learn sign language to communicate with her.
She's incredibly resourceful, surviving the collapse of Alpha's Cave and escaping from a massive Whisperer herd even without food, water, or rest. When faced with danger, like the encounter with The Ferals, Connie comes up with clever solutions, like using walker guts to protect herself and Virgil. Despite her hardships, she remains willing to help in Alexandria and harbors no ill feelings towards Carol for what happened.
As a journalist, Connie is dedicated to uncovering the truth and exposing corruption. Before the apocalypse, she got Pamela Milton's uncle kicked out of Congress through her reporting. Even in the Commonwealth, where she continues her work, Connie plays a crucial role in exposing corruption within the government, leading to the downfall of Pamela's corrupt regime.
