Constance von Nuvelle is a major protagonist in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. In Three Houses, she is one of the four titular main protagonists of the Ashen Wolves campaign.

A former noble of the Adrestian Empire's House Nuvelle, Constance made her way to Abyss after her house was completely wiped out in the war of Dagda and Brigid. There she would plan, scheme and dream of one day restoring her fallen house to its former glory. As the Ashen Wolves House are either neutral or allies to Byleth no matter what route is chosen, Constance succeeds in her goals no matter what conflict unfolds in the war.

She is voiced by Sarah Emi Bridcutt in the original Japanese version and Kirsten Day in the English version

Personality[]

Constance is a very vocal, determined, haughty and boisterous yet kind young woman. While she has attributes that can commonly found among the nobility, Constance is neither conceited nor prejudiced; She is openly friendly to everyone from all walks of life. While she does have a strong degree of arrogance, Constance never puts others down and is simply supremely confident in her own skills and abilities. Despite being loud, she speaks in a manner typical of a noble and conducts herself as such, having a very sophisticated speech pattern and abhors bad manners, something she never shies away from reprimanding others for.

That being said, due to the tragic events of her past, Constance has a severe split personality. While it is not so problematic in that she is still Constance and her identity does not change, the other side of her is the complete opposite of her main and dominant personality. Whenever Constance is in the sunlight, it triggers the memories of her trauma and she becomes extremely depressed, self-nihilistic and drastically self-deprecating. She sees herself as completely worthless, a tremendous burden, and annoyance to everyone else, often regarding herself as nothing but dirt while being very overly praiseful of her friends. She does not see any worth in her own life, and is almost impossible to be convinced otherwise when she is in this state.

Despite being a prodigy in the magical arts and having astounding skill and ingenuity in them, in some regards Constance can be extremely thick. When Yuri pointed out that she wouldn't want to be stuck licking the boots of nobles, Constance took this quite literally, and began pondering ways to be able to use her magic to make boots and shoes taste like candy, stating she would have no problem licking them if they all tasted like licorice. In total disbelief at her idiocy, Yuri then proceeded to ask her if she was "some kind of damn fool."
