~ Coral |
Coral is a cockapoo who is a mer-pup rescuer and Skye's long lost cousin, a recurring character of the Canadian cartoon series PAW Patrol.
She is voiced by Kaia Oz.
Appearance[]
Coral has light pink fur and a cream-colored muzzle, chest, and paws. She has aquamarine blue streaks in the small, curly tuft of fluff on her head, ears, and tail. She wears purple stars adorned with small clusters of pearls over her shaggy ears and a blue pearl necklace with a purple shell charm. She has a mix of purple, light blue eyes and blueish-purple eyeshadow over her eyelids.
As a mer-pup, only her lower body changes with her having a pink, purple and blue fish tail with light pink streaks and a purple fish scale pattern.
She wears a black and purple diving suit with glowing light blue highlights when summoned for an Aqua Pups mission. With it, she wears a matching colored helmet with headlights and a top centerpiece resembling a seahorse's coronet. Unlike the rest of the Aqua Pups, her helmet does not have the PAW Patrol's symbol in the center.
Personality[]
Coral is a plucky little mer-pup who is outgoing, brave, and clever. She loves not only being a mer-pup herself, but being with the other mer-pups of Puplantis. She has a friendly personality and gets along well with other pups. If there is trouble in Puplantis, she will do anything to help.
She likes to sing and dance with the other mer-pups and play games with the pups in Adventure Bay. Having discovered that they are long-lost cousins, she enjoys being around Skye the most.
Biography[]
One full Magical Mer-Moon lit evening, she heard a lullaby when she was a baby land-pup and swam out to sea to sing along. She then nudged noses with a Mer-pup which turned her into one. She had so much fun in their underwater world and their home of Puplantis that she stayed with them (as explained in "Aqua Pups: Pups Save A Floating Castle"). She can become a land pup by bumping paws with one (as seen in "Aqua Pups: Pups Save A Floating Castle") or by changing into her Aqua Pups outfit in the Whale Patroller (as seen in "Pups Save a Merdinger") to help the PAW Patrol on missions.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Save a Floating Castle”, Coral is first introduced serving as the liaison for the Mer-pups due to being able to speak land-pup English instead of the Mer-pup barks and howls. When she begins singing a lullaby that Skye had sung part of earlier back aboard the Flounder, Skye joins in with her. Afterwards, when Coral explains that she knew that lullaby from when she was just a baby land-pup, Cap'n Turbot figures out that Coral must be the pup from the legend he remembers of a land-pup who willingly became a Mer-pup and stayed with them underwater, and it is discovered that Coral is Skye's long-lost cousin. Soon enough, Coral and Skye are alerted to trouble elsewhere in Puplantis in the form of Moby and his squid buddy McSquidly, who nearly stray into cross-traffic before being rescued, though Moby makes it clear in Mer-pup language that he did not appreciate the rescue, even if it was his own fault because of his headphones keeping him from hearing where he's going. Unknown to Coral or Skye, when Moby shares a paw-bump with Zuma and Rocky, it causes him to be turned into a land-pup, and be able to speak land-pup English permanently. While Moby takes advantage of his newfound abilities to create his own vehicle, pup pack, and other things, while planning to deal with his annoyance over the other Mer-pups and their singing, Coral and Skye share a paw-bump that restores both of them to land-pup form so Coral can play on land with the rest of the PAW Patrol. However, they soon learn that Moby is attempting to move Puplantis far away so he can live in it alone, away from the rest of the Mer-pups and their singing. Coral is thus inducted into the PAW Patrol as part of their Aqua Pups sub-branch of rescue operations, being granted her own pup pack, vehicle, and pup tag to communicate with the other pups, with helping her fellow Mer-pups with getting Puplantis back from Moby. While they manage to save the city proper initially, Moby attempts to escape with the castle itself, and nearly runs it into Adventure Beach, before a well-timed splashdown of the Whale Patroller breaching the surface creates a large wave to push the castle back over Puplantis so it can sink back into place once Rocky deflates enough of the inner tube floaties Moby used to make it float to allow gravity to pull it back underwater. With their mission complete, Skye offers Coral to stay on land with the rest of the PAW Patrol, but Coral reassures her cousin that the Mer-pups need her more, but will be available should any new problems develop in the future. After Coral is turned back into a Mer-pup, she and the other Mer-pups wish the PAW Patrol well before returning underwater, with Coral gazing up at the Mer-Moon as Skye does an aerial stunt with her manta ray themed Aqua Pups vehicle in front of it before heading for home with Ryder and the others.
In “All Pups on Deck”, Coral in her Mer-pup form, is completely surprised when the golden statue of Chickaletta from Adventure Bay ends up in Puplantis. Calling Ryder and the pups to let them know, when she learns that the rest of the PAW Patrol's allies, like Liberty, Rex, Al, the Cat Pack, Tuck and Ella, and even Sweetie and Arrby, are in similar situations, Ryder decides to call everyone in helping to stop the perpetrator in Codi Gizmody. When the golden statue is returned to Adventure Bay, Coral lends her support with her Aqua Pups vehicle, delivering the final punch when she uses her bubble to destroy the Codi-Molisher and sends Codi away. After Codi ends up sending herself and Elly-Dee to the moon to keep her out of the way for a while as she plans her revenge, Coral is hailed as a hero with the rest of the PAW Patrol and their allies by the grateful citizens of Adventure Bay.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Save a Mer-Race”, Coral participates in the Puplantis Friendship race and along with Skye, Moby, Mayor Goodway, Cap'n Turbot, and a little mer-pup named Kelp; but is nervous to enter. Skye calms her down by having take big breaths. She starts the race well, but an ink device McSquidly placed in her sub detonates causing her to crash. Rocky fixes her sub, but she doubts she can win. Ryder reassures her, and she remembers to breathe and have fun. She sees Cap'n Turbot's diving bell stuck under a shipwreck thanks to Moby's ink trap and helps Skye lift it off, but is unable to until Zuma helps out. The diving bell is too damaged to continue racing, but Coral and Skye continue and pass Mayor Goodway in a cave only to find that she got trapped in it. Too far away to help, they continue racing on land until Moby's trap sends Kelp flying to the top of the train station. Skye has Coral continue racing while she helps Kelp. While racing on the bridge, Moby pours ink on the road, but Coral takes a deep breath and uses Moby's ink to pass him. Out of traps, McSquidly attempts to grab Coral with his tentacle only to grab a piece of Coral and slow Moby down allowing Coral to win the race. Now Queen of Puplantis, Coral makes her wish to have to biggest celebration ever much to Moby's dismay.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Save a Merdinger”, Coral meets Mayor Humdinger, in disguise as a mer-pup himself, and shows him the colored pearls produced annually by the Shell of Puplantis. When the Kitten Catastrophe Crew uses a mechanical shark to cause trouble in Puplantis, she sees that it knocked over the statue of King Merpup. She calls the PAW Patrol, and they find that Mayor Humdinger stole the Shell of Puplantis in an attempt to steal a purple pearl. They find the shell clamped onto Mayor Humdinger's "tail", but Coral uses her bubbles to tickle it off him. They manage to take back the purple pearl, and Humdinger is left fleeing for his life with the Kitten Catastrophe Crew from a shark that had apparently fallen for Humdinger's mechanical one.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Save the Whale Patroller”, Coral has a playdate arranged with the PAW Patrol, but a net sunk onto the library in Puplantis trapping her. The pups remove the net freeing Coral, but Moby hijacks the Whale Patroller causing it to crash into everything. Coral calls some sea animals as substitutes for the pups' rides with hers being a seahorse. When they catch up to the Whale Patroller, she has the sea animals call in their friends, and they swim ahead of the Whale Patroller and make a powerful current to slow it down allowing the pups to turn off the engine and take it back. They return to Puplantis and continue their playdate.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Save the Reef”, she takes pictures with Cap'n Turbot in front of an old sub that's about to tip into Deep Reef Trench, a coral-filled crevice, When they finish taking pictures, she hears someone in the sub only to find Moby and McSquidly. She warns them of the situation before getting locked in the sub with them and calling the PAW Patrol. When they free her, Moby and McSquidly get stuck in the sub again when it falls into the reef. Rubble stops it with his ride, but gets stuck. Coral calls in sea animals to help the pups attach the Whale Patroller's cables to the sub and pull it up. They set it far away from the trench and free Moby and McSquidly who were trying to get a part for Moby's ride only to find that it was a can of fish food.
In “Aqua Pups: Pups Stop a Giant Squid”, Coral and Skye help the mer-pups celebrate the opening of the museum's Puplantis exhibit, but Ryder calls them and warns them that Moby is trying to use a shell to summon a giant, silver squid to Puplantis. She joins Ryder, Chase, and Zuma in Squidland to find Moby's trail and later arrive in Puplantis to find that the squid is taking the golden orbs the mer-pups were going to release to kick off the celebration. She finds the squid likes to pop her bubbles and uses them to lead the squid home before starting the celebration.
Equipment and Abilities[]
Her pup-tag is purple with a light blue shell on it. It has a silver border around it. When in use, it can contact Ryder and the pups. When she is in her mer-pup form, her shell charm on her necklace also serves as a pup-tag.
Her pup-pack contains a bubble launcher that can shoot regular bubbles and sticky bubbles.
Her vehicle is a silver, purple, and blue submarine in the shape of a seahorse that can also converted into a motorcycle when she is in her sea and land missions. Unlike its submarine form, the head's bubble launcher becomes unusable. Fortunately, she is able to use the bubble launcher equipped in her Pup Pack as an alternative.
She can understand and translate any mer-pup, communicate to the sea creatures by singing, and is an excellent explorer of the ocean.
