OMG. You are such a liar!
~ Courtney annoyed with Norman

Courtney Babcock is the tritagonist of Laika's 2nd full-length animated feature film ParaNorman.

She is 17-year-old girl and a cheerleader and acts stereotypically snobbish and mean-spirited most of the time. Courtney resents Norman and when he says he can see the dead, she goes out of her way to prove he`s a liar. Until the night when she puts aside her differences and stands up for him, because even though she acts like she hates him, she loves Norman with all her heart. She attempts to flirt with Mitch Downe, Neil's older brother, many times during the events on the night of the 300th anniversary of Agatha Prenderghast's hanging. She is later disappointed when she finds out Mitch is gay, after he mentions his "boyfriend." She is the older sister of Norman.

She is voiced by Anna Kendrick, who also voiced Princess Poppy in Trolls.

Courtney is a tall, beautiful and fair-skinned teenager with a slender, pear-shaped figure, blue eyes and long, straight blonde hair, usually tied into a high-ponytail with bangs by a light pink hair tie. She also wore light purple eyeshadow, black eyeliner and light pink lip gloss for makeup.

For attire, Courtney is dressed in a rather fitted, two-piece light pink tracksuit with much lighter-colored trimming, and a pair of matching-colored sport sneakers. She accessorizes with small silver earrings.

Personality[]

At the beginning of the movie, Courtney exhibits an indifferent and distant attitude towards her brother Norman, often resorting to taunts and attempts to expose his dishonesty. However, as the plot progresses, we witness a significant transformation in her character as she embarks on a determined quest to locate her missing sibling. Despite her previous dismissive behavior, Courtney's actions demonstrate a genuine sense of worry and care for Norman's wellbeing, particularly when he finds himself facing imminent peril.

Her aloofness comes to an abrupt end as she finally comprehends the undeniable truth of his supernatural ability to communicate with the deceased. It is this profound realization that ignites a newfound empathy within her, as she witnesses firsthand the immense suffering he endures as a result of being an outcast. Consequently, her demeanor undergoes a remarkable transformation, as she begins to exude kindness and offer unwavering support towards him.
