“ | You wish to do as I did? Stand before its unthinkable might and save this world? Prove it. Show me what you've got. | „ |
~ Crane initiating his trial for Sonic. |
“ | Bravo. You are every bit the hero I hoped you would be. My people thoght the same of me. They looked to me for hope and inspiration. I...wasn't enough. You freed my dearest friends from their Titan shells, and for that you have my deepest thanks. I, however, was lost. What you see now is the memory of me before we flew into battle. I always wondered how things ended. Now I know. Take my blessing, and with it, my thanks and my hopes. You are this world's hero now. | „ |
~ Crane congratulating Sonic, and deeming him his successor. |
Crane is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Master King) of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
He was the pilot of the Supreme Titan who, in his ambitions to protect his race and the world, volunteers in trying to contain The End. While he succeeded in this endeavor, trapping The End in Cyber Space as a result, this had cost him his life.
Personality[]
Crane is described to have been highly altruistic and noble, doing what he can to protect his people. As a result of this, the other Ancients have looked up to him as a source of hope during the worst of times.
Crane is also implied to be very much like Sonic personality-wise, as when Master King interacts with Sonic, he tells him that his "incolence" and willingness to risk himself reminds him of Crane, who was apparently an annoyance to him.
Biography[]
Past[]
While Crane was alive, he was known to have been the Ancients' greatest hero, being a highly inspirational figure to others who risked his life consistently for the sake of his people.
Long ago, Crane was one the Ancients that evacuated from their home planet when The End started to attack them. Crane and the other Ancients had settled on the Starfall Islands when the Chaos Emeralds powering their ships were drawn to the planet by the Master Emerald.
Some time after their departure on Earth, The End followed the Ancients in an attempt to destroy the Earth along with them. In an attempt to defeat The End, the Ancients had built four giant robots powered by the Chaos Emeralds, the Titans, with Crane being one of the chosen pilots. When the four Titans attempt to confront The End, they are unable to defeat it. Crane then decides that the only means of stopping it would be to contain it in Cyber Space, and so traps The End inside of the Supreme Titan. Doing this, however, had killed him in the process.
Sonic Frontiers[]
As Sonic shuts off the towers on Rhea Island, he sees memories of the Ancients' evacuation onto Earth. He eventually sees a memory where Crane attempts to conceal The End inside of Supreme.
The Final Horizon[]
On Oranous Island, Sonic meets up with a memory of Crane on top of his memorial, and challenge s him in a trial to see if Sonic can defeat The End. Crane is impressed with Sonic's performance, deeming him as a worthy successor. Crane also laments about how he failed to stop the End, as his people had faith in him.
Quotes[]
“ | You remind me of another. They vexed me then as much as you do now. They also gave everything to stave off the end. | „ |
~ Master King, declaring his annoyance towards Sonic, and how much he reminds him of Crane. |
Trivia[]
- Crane has many similarities to Sonic, both being highly acclaimed heroes who desire to protect others, and are seen as sources of hope and inspiration. Additionally, both show themselves to be self-sacrificial; like how Crane sacrifices himself in order to contain The End and save his people, Sonic takes on large amounts of Cyber Corruption in order to free his friends from Cyber Space, and eventually makes use of it to defeat The End.
