Eugene Solano, codenamed Crux, is a supporting protagonist in the Ace Combat video game series, appearing in Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and its prequel Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion. He is an Aurelian Air Force radio operator, assisting pilots during the war against Leasath.
He was voiced by Michael Naishtut.
Biography[]
Skies of Incursion[]
In 2020, Democratic Republic of Leasath invaded its neighbour, Federal Republic of Aurelia. In the early days of invasion, Crux assisted the Aurelian Falco Squadron and its flight leader in resisting Leasathian invaders, but failed to prevent the takeover of most of Aurelia.
Skies of Deception[]
After barely saving what was left of the country's military and territory, Aurelia launched a number of counterattacks and eventually a full counteroffensive, spearheaded by Gryphus 1. Solano assisted Gryphus throughout the campaign, during the battle over Santa Elva which saw the destruction of Leasath's flying fortress Gleipnir, liberation of Griswall and eventual destruction of the enemy's stealth fighter Fenrir in the Archelon Fortress, signifying Aurelia's victory.
In the game's good ending, when Albert Genette seeks an audience with Gryphus 1, Eugene informs the journalist that the pilot had already left for a colder place.
Personality[]
Crux is somewhat sensitive but nevertheless devoted to his job. He cares for the lives of pilots under his watch and was shocked by the loss of many of them to Gleipnir to the point of tears. He remains loyal to his country and wishes to liberate it.

- "Crux" is the name of a constellation also known as "Southern Cross", which was used as a nickname by both Falco 1 and Gryphus 1.
