Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, is one of the two main protagonists of X-Men: Evolution (alongside Jean Grey). He is the field leader of the X-Men with the power to shoot energy blasts from his eyes, and the first student to be recruited by Professor Charles Xavier.
He was voiced by the late Kirby Morrow, who voiced Hot Shot in Transformers Cybertron, and Jay in Class of the Titans.
Biography[]
Childhood[]
During their childhood Scott and his younger brother, Alex were forced to abandon a plane that had caught on fire while their parents sacrificed themselves as the plane crashed. Unfortunately as the two brothers parachuted out of the plane, Scott's parachute caught on fire which caused him to fall to the ground faster and hit his head. Although he survived the fall, he spend some time in the hospital, and he believed that Alex had also died in the plane crash alongside their parents.
Life as an X-Men[]
At some point in his life Scott developed the mutant power of generate optic energy blasts, but due to hitting his head in the plane crash he could not control the blasts. However, he was soon approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who was also a mutant with the power of telepathy, and was recruited to be his student at his mutant school, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in Bayville, NY. As a student for Xavier, Scott was given a pair of the ruby quartz crystal sun glasses to help keep his powers in check and developed a friendship with the second student the Professor recruited, a girl named Jean Grey, who also had telepathy like the Professor and telekinesis. The two were made part of the Professor's mutant team the X-Men, with Scott acting as the field leader. As Scott attended the local high school, Bayville High, with Jean, he developed a rivalry with Jean's boyfriend, the school star football player Duncan Matthews. As the X-Men were later joined by Kurt Wagner, Kitty Pryde, Evan Daniels, and Rogue, Scott did his best leading the team while to trying to keep the existence of mutants a secret from the public, and fight against a group of rogue mutants called the Brotherhood lead by the shapeshifter Mystique, who unbeknownst to them is their school principal, Miss Raven Darkhölme.
