Cyno (Greek: κύων kúōn, dog) is a major character and playable character of Genshin Impact. He serves as one of the deuteragonists in Chapter III of Sumeru's story arc and supporting characters in the webcomic series.
He's a General Mahamatra, and he leads the Matro in striking fear into the hearts of researchers of the Sumeru Akademiya, investigating crimes and protecting Sumeru as well as arresting those who violate the regulations as stated that he wont hold back for those who commit serious crimes as well as academic offenses. On the other hand, he has the tendency to crack unfunny jokes.
He is voiced by Li Qingyang in Chinese, Jung Eui-jin along with the late Lee Woo-ri in Korean, Miyu Irino in Japanese, and Alejandro Saab in English. Irino also voiced Mirai Kakehashi in Platinum End, Yuuichirou Hyakuya in Seraph of the End, Shōya Ishida in A Silent Voice, and Sora in Kingdom Heart. Saab also voiced Akihiko Sanada in Persona 3 Reload, Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail, Gabimaru the Hollow in Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, Einar in Vinland Saga Series, and Tatsuya Shiba in The Honor at Magic High School. Both also voiced Mirai Kakehashi in Platinum End.
Appearance[]
Cyno is a young man with dark skin, light orange eyes, and white long hair. He wears a dark purple hat known as a jackal head, a least gold armor, a bottomless shirt but black warping on his arm, kilt-like skirts with a gold belt with orange jewels dark purple pants, and dark black socks with tight gold armor. In pre-skip, he wear a dark brown cloak with two ears with one purple.
Personality[]
He is serious, emotionless and loyal about his duty, but cares a lot about protecting the citizens for gathering the social distance of Sumeru. In the manga, he meets with Amber and Collei, after which he decided to give the residue of the curse away and defeat Barnabas. Thereafter, Collei and Cyno move to Sumeru to say goodbye to Mondstadt. In the game, he met the traveler and Paimon to help to free Buer and arrest Azar to save Sumeru. In the event, he has a terrible joke and can't believe it doesn't work well.

- Cyno is based on Anubis, the Egyptian god of cemeteries and embalming as well as a protector of a grave.
- Cyno's favorite food is Duel Soul.
- He's the only playable characters (not count Traveler and Paimon) that companion voicelines refer to Buer as Nahida instead of Lesser Lord Kusanali. Hinting that he views her as a person rather than a god to worship.
- Nahida is the first character that likes Cyno's terrible jokes. The second is Albedo. This is maybe because they are intelligent and Cyno jokes are funnier to them.
- He is the only male Electro character in Genshin Impact since version 1.1 up to 5.2, along with Razor, Sethos and Ororon.
- Cyno is the second non-archon character with two story quests. The first being Naganohara Yoimiya.
