Dáin Ironfoot is the character of The Hobbit. In the Jackson's film, he's played by Billy Connolly.
Biography[]
Dain participated in the Battle of Azanulbizar, in which (in the book source) he killed Azog (who is killed by Thorin during the Battle of the Five Armies in the film). However, he never dared to enter Moria, just like Thorin. He remembered the Balrog, who once drove out all the dwarves from there. Later, he also took part in the Battle of the Five Armies. Initially, he wanted to drive away the elves and residents of Lake Town who came to demand part of the treasure, but when the orcs came, he had to unite with those whom he wanted to drive away in order to defeat a common enemy. Later, when his cousin Thorin died, his only living relative, he became King Under the Mountain. He also took part in the War of the Ring, albeit indirectly. When Sauron's minions came to him demanding to know what he knew about the Bagginses, he sent them to hell. Later, when Sauron's minions came with weapons in their hands, he and the ruler of Dale Brand stood up to defend their kingdoms. Both Brand and Dain died fighting bravely for their kingdoms.
Personality[]
Dain is similar to his cousin Thorin in many ways. He's as rude. This is especially well shown in Peter Jackson's film adaptation, where he tells the elves and people "Please get out of here right now" and even calls Thranduil a cowardly forest fairy. But he is also a brave warrior, ready to protect his people from any threat.
