D.A. Sinclair is a supporting character in the Image Comics series Invincible and its 2021 animated TV series of the same name.
He is a scientist who used to turn people into Reanimen robots to evolve humanity in his own twisted way before he is defeated by Invincible. After being defeated by the Invincible, D.A. Sinclair is taken as a prisoner of the Global Defense Agency and is offered a job by Cecil Stedman. D.A. Sinclair accepts is job as a scientist for the Global Defense Agency and reforms from his evil ways.
In Season 1 of the Amazon series he was voiced by Ezra Miller, who also portrayed The Flash in the DC Extended Universe, from Season 2 onwards he was voiced by Eric Bauza, who also voiced Puss in Boots in The Adventures of Puss in Boots.
Biography[]
Past History[]
Before reforming, D.A. Sinclair kidnaps homeless people to experiment on them and turn them into Reanimen robots as D.A. Sinclair believes that he is helping humanity to evolve into something stronger. Invincible and William Clockwell took note of the disappearing homeless people and tracked down D.A. Sinclair by having William disguise himself as a homeless person. Invincible and William Clockwell are able to confront D.A. Sinclair and defeat him. All the homeless people that were turned into Reanimen were able to get help by the Global Defense Agency. At the same time D.A. Sinclair is given a job to work with the Global Defense Agency by Cecil Stedman.
Upon working for the Global Defense Agency, D.A. Sinclair is able to reform from his evil ways and uses his new Reanimen robots to protect the world.
Issue #70.5[]
D.A. Sinclair hides the alternate Invincible Reanimen robots from the orders of Cecil Stedman and Invincible arrives. Cecil Stedman explains to Invincible on how D.A. Sinclair had reformed during his time with the Global Defense Agency. D.A. Sinclair takes the chance to apologize to Invincible of the crimes he has done in the past and wishes atone them by working for the Global Defense Agency. Invincible congrats D.A. Sinclair for reforming and leaves the scientist to continue working.

D.A. Sinclair introduces Chris to the Global Defense Agency and explains the advance technology the organization contains. Chris becomes interested in working for the Global Defense Agency and hopes to share his inventions with the organization.

In the aftermath of Las Vegas' explosion by Dinosaurus, D.A. Sinclair notes on how the solar panels that are planted in the empty space is able to improve life on the planet. Invincible questions D.A. Sinclair if Dinosaurus's plan of making space was beneficial, and D.A. Sinclair agrees that Dinosaurus had helped the planet by making room for solar panels. Cecil notes that the solar panels Chris had made gives twice the amount of energy compared to regular solar panels, meaning that it is able to give employments to thousands of people. This causes Invincible to question about how right Dinosaurus was in blowing up Las Vegas.

D.A. Sinclair reacts to Invincible dying by the hands of Dinosaurus on the news. With the floods Dinosaurus had caused, D.A. Sinclair works with Rudolph Conners and Chris to minimize the floods that Dinosaurus has caused all over the world.

D.A. Sinclair goes to Mark Grayson and alerts Mark Grayson that Rudolph Conners won't be able to hear them. Mark Grayson questions why D.A. Sinclair has come for him and D.A. Sinclair answers that Mark Grayson won't be alone to defy Rudolph Conners as D.A. Sinclair plans to overthrow Rudolph Conners with a secret rebellion. D.A. Sinclair leaves Mark Grayson and asks the superhero to think about his offer of rebelling against Rudolph Conners.
Issue #121[]
Immortal is getting escorted to his cell within the Global Defense Agency and D.A. Sinclair watches in anticipation for the Immortal to make his move. Immortal yells for the superheroes that are locked up in the Global Defense Agency to run to the back of their cells. Immortal blows himself up and the superheroes that are locked up use this chance to escape their imprisonment. When the robots start to corner the superheroes that are escaping, D.A. Sinclair comes in to the rescue with his Reanimen soldiers to distract the robots of Rudolph Conners. D.A. Sinclair gets another idea on how to distract the robots from Rudolph Conners by making the room incredibly white, so that the robots won't be able to locate the superheroes.
Rudolph Conners questions D.A, Sinclair as to why the scientist is betraying him and D.A. Sinclair replies that he has finally learned on what it means to be a good person. Rudolph Conners promises D.A. Sinclair that he will punish the scientist, but D.A. Sinclair escapes by using a rocket. In the secret rebellion base, D.A. Sinclair is stitching up the immortal from his wounds. D.A. Sinclair questions Immortal on how the superhero's powers works. Immortal answers that he was cursed with immortality a long time ago.
D.A. Sinclair questions Brittany on what is going on in the outside world and Brittany replies that it is somewhat peaceful. D.A. Sinclair disagrees as he believes that is what Rudolph Conners wants them to think. D.A. Sinclair later eats with the superheroes that escaped on a long table before Rudolph Conners arrives on the scene by teleportation. the superheroes prepare to fight Rudolph Conners, but Rudolph Conners reasons with them on how he benefited the world. Rudolph Conners explains he needs the help of the superheroes and that defying him is pointless as it would only cause destruction on the peace he created.
Some of the superheroes go to Rudolph Conners to support his cause while the others stay behind because they still hate Rudolph Conners for betraying them. One of the people that stayed behind is D.A. Sinclair.
Issue #124[]
Invincible is taken back into the past and D.A. Sinclair has a brief cameo appearance of being arrested by Invincible and the police. D.A. Sinclair begs the police and Invincible that his work is too important and Invincible is aware that D.A. Sinclair will be given another chance to continue creating more Reanimen robots in the future for the Global Defense Agency.
Issue #125[]
While D.A. Sinclair does not appear in this issue, he is mentioned by Mark Grayson, when he is talking to the past version of Cecil Stedman. Mark Grayson tells Cecil that he is aware that Cecil will use D.A. Sinclair's Reanimen to protect the world because D.A. Sinclair is too useful to be locked up in prison. This impresses Cecil Stedman and hopes to assist Mark Grayson in anyway he can.
Issue #142[]
D.A. Sinclair uses a mech to join the fight alongside the other superheroes to defeat Rudolph Conners. With the defeat of Rudolph Conners, his brain is locked up in a tube by Invincible. D.A. Sinclair informs invincible and Immortal that the tube that holds Rudolph Conners's brain is able to perform vocal commands, but it will make Rudolph Conner's brain immobile. This will ensure that Rudolph Conners will never be a threat in the future.
Issue #143[]
In D.A. Sinclair's final appearance, he briefly appears as a cameo when listening to Rudolph Conners's solution to the Viltrumite problem on earth. Rudolph Conners suggest that the Viltrumites and their children leave the planet Earth to ensure that they do not cause any destruction on the planet. Invincible agrees with Rudolph Conners as it is the most effective way to rule the Viltrumites with the least amounts of casualties.
Personality[]
In the past, D.A. Sinclair used to experiment on people because he believes he is making humanity evolve by turning them into Reanimen robots. When experimenting on the victims he kidnaps, D.A. Sinclair has complete disregard towards their feelings. D.A. Sinclair talks to his victims in a calm polite manner while he experiments on them in becoming his Reanimen robots. D.A. Sinclair can be greedy as he uses a paralyzing serum on the victims he experiments on rather than pain killers, so that D.A. Sinclair can save money. When he is caught by Invincible, D.A. Sinclair attempts to justify his actions towards Invincible to dodge responsibility for his actions, but Invincible breaks D.A. Sinclair's jaw.
In prison D.A. Sinclair talks to Cecil and questions him on why the scientist's crimes are not revealed in public. Cecil replies that he is interested in D.A. Sinclair's work and gives D.A. Sinclair a job in the Global Defense Agency. D.A. Sinclair accepts Cecil Stedman's offer and does what he can to impress Cecil with his work. Cecil compliments D.A. Sinclair for his good work, and D.A. Sinclair continues to work hard on making his new Reanimen robots. When creating new Reanimen robots from the corpses of the alternate evil Invincibles, D.A. Sinclair is disappointed as he wanted to spend time with his wife Justine.
When Invincible and Cecil Stedman visit D.A. Sinclair, D.A. Sinclair apologizes to Invincible for his past actions and hopes to improve by working for the Global Defense Agency. Invincible congratulates D.A. Sinclair for the scientist's reformation. In the aftermath of the Viltrumite War, D.A. Sinclair is disappointed due to the fact he wishes to have used the Reanimen made from the alternate corpses of the Invincibles to fight the Viltrumites. Upon meeting Chris, D.A. Sinclair introduces his guess towards the Global Defense Agency in a genuine kind manner. With the solar panels attached on where Las Vegas once was, D.A. Sinclair compliments Chris for his hard work in planting the solar panels.
As Dinosaurus kills a cloned Invincible in front of the world, D.A. Sinclair is one of the people to react in shock in believing that Invincible actually died, even though it was just a clone. With the world being flooded, D.A. Sinclair showcases his desire to protect the world by minimizing the floods. Once Rudolph Conners takes over the world, D.A. Sinclair acts as Rudolph Conners's helper while D.A. Sinclair plans to overthrow his boss in secret. D.A. Sinclair warns Mark Grayson that the superhero can help him defy Rudolph Conners, as D.A. Sinclair is with a secret rebellion group. After Immortal blows himself up to break the superheroes out of prison, D.A. Sinclair aids in support by using the Reanimen to attack Rudolph's robots.
Rudolph Conners questions D.A. Sinclair on why the scientist is defying him and D.A. Sinclair replies that he just wants to do what is right. Rudolph Conners attempts D.A. Sinclair for the scientist's disobedience, but D.A. Sinclair is able to use his intelligence to escape Rudolph Conners. In the end D.A. Sinclair uses a mech to join the fight alongside the other superheroes to defeat Rudolph Conners and locks Rudolph Conners's brain in a jar to defeat him once and for all.
Relationships[]
Invincible[]
In the past, Invincible broke D.A. Sinclair's jaw due to how disgusting D.A. Sinclair was at experimenting on homeless people and turning them into Reanimen robots. Invincible regrets losing his cool towards hurting D.A. Sinclair, but eventually gets angry at the scientist when Invincible finds out what D.A. Sinclair had done to Rick Sheridan and all the other homeless people D.A. Sinclair experimented on. When D.A. Sinclair walks in during Cecil and Invincible's conversation, Invincible gets angry at Cecil for not punishing D.A. Sinclair for the scientist's crimes. This causes Cecil to fight Invincible using D.A. Sinclair's Reanimen robot corpses. In the end Invincible quits the Global Defense Agency and leaves Cecil to be on his own. Fortunately Invincible's relationship between D.A. Sinclair gets better when Invincible learns of the scientist's reformation from evil.
D.A. Sinclair apologizes towards Invincible for his evil actions and Invincible congratulates D.A. Sinclair for the scientist's reformation. From that moment forward, D.A. Sinclair and Invincible defend Earth on any major threats. D.A. Sinclair works with Invincible to take down Rudolph Conners from maintaining control of Earth and D.A. Sinclair locks Rudolph Conners's brain in a jar.
Cecil Stedman[]
D.A Sinclair talks to Cecil Stedman while the scientist's jaw heals from Invincible's punch. D.A. Sinclair questions Cecil if he has revealed the scientist's crimes in front of the public, but Cecil instead complements D.A. Sinclair for his Reanimen. D.A. Sinclair realizes that it was Cecil that hid the evidence and asks Cecil on why he did it. Cecil Stedman offers D.A. Sinclair a job in the Global Defense Agency, and D.A. Sinclair accepts Cecil's offer. D.A. Sinclair works with Cecil and D.A. Sinclair does what he can to impress Cecil with his Reanimen robots.
In the battle between Invincible and Conquest, Cecil becomes desperate and asks D.A. Sinclair to give him a Reanimen from the corpses of the alternate Invincibles. Unfortunately D.A. Sinclair needs more time to produce even a single Reanimen, so Cecil begins to panic. In the aftermath of Conquest, Cecil Stedman pressures D.A. Sinclair to work hard in finishing the alternate Invincible Reanimen robots which D.A. Sinclair complies. D.A. Sinclair becomes a little Disappointed as he does not have the time to spend time with his wife Justine. Cecil later thanks D.A. Sinclair and Chris for their help when the scientists builds solar panels to where Las Vegas once was.
Chris[]
D.A. Sinclair meets Chris by introducing him to the Global Defense Agency. D.A. Sinclair. D.A Sinclair hopes to work well with Chris as he believes that Chris's technology can save countless lives on Earth. Together they build solar panels over Las Vegas and D.A. Sinclair compliments Chris for the effective solar panels. They also work together and minimizing the floods, Dinosaurus had created.
Justine[]
D.A. Sinclair is married to Justine who works for the Global Defense Agency and is in love with her. D.A. Sinclair becomes disappointed with his work with the creation of the alternate Invincible Reanimen robots because he does not have the time to spend time with Justine. Cecil Stedman introduces Justine to Invincible, when D.A. Sinclair apologizes his crimes to Invincible and it turns out that D.A. Sinclair and Justine are expecting their child to be born.
Rudolph Conners[]
D.A. Sinclair initially worked with Rudolph Conners with minimizing the floods on Earth, but it their relationship changed when Rudolph Conners decided to take over the world. While D.A. Sinclair worked as Rudolph Conners's assistant in taking over the world, D.A. Sinclair secretly plotted to overthrow Rudolph Conners with a secret rebellion group. D.A. Sinclair betrays Rudolph Conners by breaking out the superheroes that Rudolph Conners had imprisoned. Rudolph Conners questions why D.A. Sinclair has betrayed him and D.A. Sinclair answers that he believes that defying Rudolph Conners is the right thing to do. Rudolph Conners plans to punish D.A. Sinclair for betraying him, but D.A. Sinclair is able to flee in a rocket.
D.A. Sinclair remains as one of the superheroes that does not side with Rudolph Conners as D.A. Sinclair does not trust him. D.A. Sinclair eventually defeats Rudolph Conners alongside the other superheroes and locks Rudolph Conners's brain in a jar. This is the ensure that Rudolph Conners will not become a danger in the future.
Powers and Abilities[]
Genius level intellect: D.A. Sinclair is able to create Reanimen robots with his scientific skills and is able to impress Cecil Stedman.
Mechanical engineering: D.A. Sinclair can turn corpses or living humans into Reanimen robots. D.A. Sinclair can even turn Viltrumite Corpses into Reanimen robots in a few weeks.
Science: Most of his scientific knowledge comes from being able to create Reanimen.
Weaknesses[]
Sinclair is only human and does not have any fighting experience. D.A. Sinclair can be easily beaten in physical combat with the example of Invincible breaking his jaw.
