Welcome all the newcomers - um, looks like Storm Desmond's really put me on the map, I guess, we're now at six thousand listeners, that's crazy! Now, I'm thinking - oh, uh, right, em, thanks Blartichoke. There's been, there's been a bit of hostility in chat, I guess, um, new people don't really knowing the deal… that's fine, that's fine! If you're asking me to replay something I've already played before, sorry, I only do live stuff, cos real life has got no repeats! Ahah, that's something we say in chat, that's something we say.
~ DJ Chaac in one of his livestreams.
Maybe it's just some background noise for you guys, but this stream has meant a lot to me. Um, everything? I wasn't really creating before this, I'd sunk into this shitty depressive thing, and you guys, you guys helped me find myself again? Find my voice? Heh. A lot of people, in real life, they make fun of my lisp, but you guys are all just so n

ice when I talk…

~ Chaac telling his viewers how much he enjoyed making music for them.

DJ Chaac is a character in the SCP Foundation. He is an ancient Mayan god of rain, thunder and lightning who after becoming depressed due to having nothing to do decided to open a YouTube account to stream his music that was comprised of patterns of storms. He wished for people to enjoy his music, wanting to use his powers to entertain others, and so when he manifested these storms those who heard it would believe to be hearing DJ Chaac's livestream and as result improve their mood. This phenomenon was known as SCP-3880.

He is based on the deity of the same name. SCP-3880 which features him was an entry for the 2018's 72 Hour Jam Contest. In the site he is voiced by his author Rimple.

Biography[]

Not much is known about DJ Chaac apart that he is the ancient Mayan god of storms born on December 3rd. After his worship died out, Chaac fell into depression as he didn't know what to do anymore, remaining in bed all morning and refusing to hang out with his friends. That was until in the modern day, around May of 2013, when he figured he could use his weather manipulation to form music which he would livestream on YouTube. Opening a YouTube channel under the name of DJ Chaac, he started a non-stop livestream titled "ILLEST RAIN SOUNDS ∞ Hours No Looping - White Noise, Nature/Healing/Ambient, Meditation/Insomnia/Study ASMR [ORIGINAL]" which consisted of soothing and relaxing background music comprised of real rain and thunder he had formed. With the help of a few friends who dabbled in magic, Chaac protected his account using glyphs, and as his stream went on he opened other accounts on SoundCloud, Patreon, Splice and Bandcamp to store his old tracks and help him continue with his work.

As he manifested various storms to record their sounds for his livestream, a small number of people inside their homes when hearing these storms they recognized them as part of Chaac's video. These people would feel relaxed, happy, creative and energetic, prompting them to check out the actual stream. At first Chaac was mostly a unknown figure, having an average viewership of 38 viewers. This soon changed when Chaac manifested Storm Desmond, an extratropical cyclone which caused rainfall on Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, exposing countless people to his music and rising his viewership to 7,400. Before this, Chaac spoke to his viewers through a text-to-speech program, but as his popularity grew he bought a microphone to speak to his audience and answer their questions. Unfortunately for him, among those who discovered his channel was the SCP Foundation and seeing his livestream and storms as threatening to the veil of secrecy, attempted to intervene.

Chaac continued with his livestream and when switching tracks or the storms' locations he interacted with his fans. When one of his viewers known as Shock Through The Heart requested Chaac to minimize the storm in their area due to their roof starting to leak, he abided to the request. As his birthday came up, Chaac planned to manifest a storm bigger than Desmond to celebrate it, calling this upcoming storm Caly. In light of these news, the Foundation tried to shut the stream down. It contacted the Alphabet Incorporated to remove Chaac's account but were unable to do so because of the magic protection he put on it. Sadly, the Storm Caly proved to be devastating as nine lives were lost to it, prompting the Foundation to hire a contractor from Three Portlands to take down his channel.

This eventually led to the war god related to storms Lúghnasa, a former friend of Chaac, accusing him of using his storm clouds for Storm Desmond while he was at BlackRock. Because Lúghnasa couldn't copyright Chaac's stream as it wasn't a video he decided to report the channel, causing YouTube to try shut it down but protection prevented it. As all his other accounts had been taken down, Chaac decided to remove the protection in order to not reveal the identity of his friends. Before he did that he spoke to his fans for the last time, telling them that the channel would be gone and that he greatly enjoyed making music for them. Despite this, he promised he would keep making storms for them and this time allow the flowers to grow beneath, the only setback being he couldn't stream it anymore. From then on, when people heard his storms, they would feel like sitting besides a friend. The Foundation, which had designated the phenomena surrounding Chaac's storms as SCP-3880, thought of giving the designation to Chaac himself since he was certainly a powerful non-human.

Appearance[]

The true appearance of DJ Chaac is never revealed and there are no details about it.

Powers and Abilities[]

DJ Chaac was a god of storms, meaning he possessed immortality and the power to manipulate rains, lightning and thunder. He could manipulate clouds to cause great storms, and use the sounds they made to form soothing and relaxing background music for his livestream. When people indoor heard these storms in real life they would have their mood lighten and their creativity and energy risen. These people also learned that these sounds were part of Chaac's livestream and if they wished they could check it out. After he was forced to close down the livestream, Chaac made his rainfalls cause those who heard it feel like they were sitting besides him as a way to comfort his fans.

Besides his natural powers, Chaac could also use magic to some extent, though this mostly came thanks to the assistance from his warlock friends. With their help, Chaac was able to put a strong cryptoarchaic ward on his accounts to protect them from being taken down by embedding power sigils in his user details. He was able to achieve this by uploading a private video in which he activated the sigils' words, though when Lúghnasa threatened to take legal action against Chaac he disabled the ward.

Personality[]

DJ Chaac was a likable and talented individual who loved making music for his fans. Before opening his accounts, Chaac had fallen into depression as he didn't know what to do, causing him to spend a considerable amount of time in bed and missing out on hanging with his friends. Upon opening his stream, he found a new purpose in creating chill-out music for people all around the world. He greatly enjoyed using storms to make music for people to enjoy, using the storms to lighten his listeners' mood and increase their energy and creativity. He also enjoyed interacting with his fans, trying to answer most of their questions and abiding to their requests on changing the intensity of the storms. He greatly valued and cared for his friends as shown when he was hurt after Lúghnasa who he believed was his friend took down his accounts and livestream he had worked on for some years, and willingly disabled the sigils put on his accounts to keep the identities of his warlock friends secret. After being forced to close down his livestream Chaac was upset by this outcome, but before he left he promised to keep manifesting storms to comfort people though he would be unable to stream it, along with allowing flowers to bloom under his rains. From then on, Chaac began manifesting rains that made people feel like they were sitting besides a close friend of theirs.
