Daitou is one of coastal defense ships built by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. She named after Daitō Islands located in the Philippine Sea. Launched in June 1944 she was quickly worked up and soon set to work escorting convoys. She survived several sub and air attacks to be still intact when Japan surrendered. Set to work post-war as a minesweeper; She struck a mine in the Tsushima Straits mid November '45 and broke in two.
