Damask was a benevolent alien found in Marvel comics, debuting in Defenders I #107, she was a follower of the alien "god" known as the Rose of Purity and shared a beneficial symbiotic relationship with her "god" that kept the realm in a state of near-perfect "paradise".
History[]
Damask was one of a pair of aliens who would find themselves crash-landing on an alien world over 100,000 years ago, the pair would be nursed to health by the Rose of Purity and became the entity's loyal guardians, Damask would also become the life-mate of Zaffer and lived in a state of peace and tranquility.
Unfortunately, their peace would be shattered when Amora the Enchantress set her eyes on the Rose of Purity as part of her many schemes, setting the Defenders to capture the Rose under threat of slaying Valkyrie if they did not do as she "requested".
While at first the Defenders were greeted kindly, Zaffer flew into a rage upon realizing their intent to "steal" his "god", sadly Hulk provoked further conflict alongside Namor and the Son of Satan, Zaffer reverted back to his original savage state and became a fearsome monster more than capable of standing his own against these powerful invaders.
Damask tried to reason with Hellcat over the events but was pushed aside by the misguided hero, who sought to cut down the Rose and give it to Amora, yet the Rose came up with another plan and feigned its own "death", causing the world to become barren as a result - this ultimately stopped Hellcat, who realized the destruction she and her fellow "heroes" were doing, she called on the others to stop fighting and they eventually did so.
After the fighting stopped Zaffer lamented the "death" of the Rose, only for the world to return to its former paradise-like state as the Rose of Purity revealed it had feigned its death to stop the battle and while their fighting had pained it the entity wanted to teach them the value of peace.
Zaffer and Damask would ask the Defenders to stay with them in this new paradise and for some time the heroes seemed to agree, however Doctor Strange would inevitably call them away from this world to help deal with the Enchantress.
It is assumed the Damask and Zaffer remain in their paradise home to this day, free from Amora's influence or the hot-headed heroes who almost destroyed it.
Abilities[]
Damask was telepathic and a skilled lyre-player, she was a pacifist by nature and unlike Zaffer she refused to engage in physical combat, she was much more empathic as well, thus was more connected to the Rose and thus pleaded for both her mate and the heroes to stop fighting, knowing it harmed the Rose.
She was also granted immortality by the Rose, having already lived in excess of 100,000 years prior to her first encounter with the Defenders.
