Eventually, the two became friends and Forrest took care of Dan, who had lost his legs in battle. Later, Dan became Forrest's first mate and co-worker in the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and made them wealthy. Later, Dan baptized himself and later invested in Apple, making both Forrest and Dan extremely rich. A few years later, Dan went to go to Forrest's wedding, where he met Forrest's wife Jenny and Forrest met Dan's fiancée Susan.
Personality[]
Dan is first shown as a grumpy and suicidal lieutenant. When Forrest saved him, he became an angry, hopeless, depressed man who really needed Forrest's help. He later became a cocky albeit peaceful man when he became Forrest's first mate.
