Danny Pennington is a former supporting antagonist turned tritagonist of the original 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

He is portrayed by Michael Turney.

History[]

Danny is a punk kid who is the son of April O'Neil's News boss Charles Pennington whom he has a strain relationship with his son. Unbeknown to Charles is that Danny is one of the delinquent kids who is secretly working for the Foot Clan, run by the Shredder. After being taken to school by Charles, he was caught and arrested for robbery.

After getting bailed from his father, they stopped by at April's apartment where Danny caught a glimpse at Michelanglo one of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles under April's apartment. After a brief argument with his father while being taken to school, Danny rushed out of the car and ran away as he goes to the warehouse where the Foot hides out as the delinquent children from the streets uses it as their place to hangout while training to become members of the Foot.

After a speech from the Shredder, who demands that they must find and punished the Turtles for interfering in their business, Danny revealed to them their location.

After a failed attempt at defeating the Turtles which caused April's apartment to be burnt in flames, Danny watches as he shows signs of guilt. Danny meets with the Turtles sensei and father figure: a mutated rat name Splinter whom the Foot had abducted a few nights before, due to them finding the Turtles home after Raphael save April from their clutches. When Splinter gently asked about Danny's family, Danny stated that his father couldn't care less about, but Splinter retort saying that he refuse to believe as to him all father's care for their sons.

It was revealed by Shredder's second in command: Tatsu that Danny has been missing. One night, when the Turtles along with April and masked vigilante: Casey Jones returned to their home in the sewers, they found Danny hiding in there cabinated. April attempted to call Charles, but Danny insisted on spending the night.

April gave Danny one of her drawings of the Turtles, and after struggling to fall asleep as Splinters words about fathers beginning to sink in, he sneaks his way out of the sewers and back into the Foots Layer to see him as he was unknowingly being followed by Casey. Upon seeing Splinter, Splinter reveals a tale of how back Japan in he once had a family as he was raised under a man name Hamato Yoshi who was who was considered Japan's finest warrior as Splinter mimics his movement learning everything he knows from his master's move set. Yoshi has a rival of a man name Oroko Saki who has competed Yoshi for the love of a woman named Tan Shin, but Shin's love was only for Yoshi, so rather than trying to fight Saki for her hand, they decided to go to America along with Splinter, but Saki vow vengeance as he breaks into there home and killed them both. With his cage destroyed from all the commotion, Splinter leaps to Saki's faces scratching it open which led to Saki throwing him down to a floor, and slice half his ear off before disappearing.

Danny wonders what happen to Saki, with Splinter stating that no one knows, but the bandana that Danny wears has the Symbol of the same clan Saki work for. Beginning to see the error of his ways, Danny decided to get rid of it, not before being confronted by the Shredder who found the drawing of Leonardo in Danny's pocket, which forced the Shredder to rally the Foot in the pursuit to take down the Turtles once and for all, and tells Tatsu to kill Splinter. Upon hearing this, Danny attempts to return to Splinter, but bumps into Casey who disguise himself as one of the Foot, and leads him to Splinter.

Danny and Casey unlock the keys to unchained Splinter, but was confronted by Tatsu and the delinquent children. After a brief confrontation between Casey and Tatsu ending with Casey defeating him with a golf club, the head of the kids insist of attacking him, to keep there loyalty to the Shredder, but Splinter stated that the Shredder only used them for his own personal gain. Casey and Danny held on to Splinter and lead them to where they noticed the Turtles being overpowered by the Shredder on the roof top. Splinter disappears right before them to save his sons and settle the score with the Shredder who was revealed to be Saki all along, after Splinter defeated Shredder, added with Casey crushing him with a garbage dispenser, Danny return to his father, not before returning the money he stole from April that one time. Danny tells Charles to call him Dan now.
