Darkrai (ダークライ) is the titular overarching protagonist of Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai, the tenth movie of the Pokémon: The Series. It was mainly accused for causing destruction around Alamos Town (mainly by Baron Alberto). In reality, it was actually warning others about Palkia (and later Dialga) are the threats and it was trying to protect town from these two Pokémon deities.
It was voiced by Kōji Ishizaka in Japanese, and by Scott Williams in English.
Personality[]
During a flashback, it was seen attacking few other Pokémon in the garden. When it was deeply wounded, Alicia came opened its hearts by singing Oración song, thus healing it and it is welcomed to the garden by Alicia and other Pokémon. Darkrai developed a special attachment to Alice as it believed she was Alicia, Alice's grandmother, who helped Darkrai when it was injured a long time ago. Ever since then it had stayed in that garden. It also once saved Alice after she fell off a cliff.
In the present, Darkrai was mistaken to be evil during the movie, attacking people and giving them nightmares. Baron Alberto in particular constantly accused Darkrai of all the anomalies occurring in Alamos Town. It was only later that it was revealed that Darkrai was actually trying to prevent Palkia and Dialga from destroying Alamos Town when Palkia trapped the city in another dimension.
Powers and Abilities[]
- High Endurance: It was able to tank attacks from multiple Pokémon all at once. It was also shown to takes hits from Dialga and Palkia. Although, Darkrai does have its limit as it was eventually fall to Dialga's Hyper Beam and Palkia's Aura Sphere.
- Sleeping inducing / Dark Void: Using this move will drag its foe into a world of total darkness and puts them to sleep.
- Dark powers / Dark Pulse: Darkrai unleashes its dark aura imbued with dark thoughts.
- Electricity powers / Shock Wave: It strikes its foe with a quick jolt of electricity.
- Evasion / Double Team: It can make illusory copies of itself to raise its evasiveness.
- Shadow casting: It is able to cast a shadow and travel through walls and grounds.
- Telepathy: It is able to speak human language through telepathy, although it's communication skill is very limited.
