Darok: Old men like me never die in places like this.
Pharh: No?
Darok: No. We die in interesting places like, oh, brothels.
~ Darok telling Pharh about the places were old Klingons died.

Darok was a male Klingon hero introduced in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode Once More Unto the Breach. He was portrayed by Neil Vipond.

History[]

Darok was born in the 23rd century. His mother died in an attack against the Romulans. For years Darok had wished that he had spoken to her before she left. Darok's father later died when a ship crashed into the brothel he was visiting.

He served for many years in the Klingon Defense Force. By the late 24th century he was an aide to General Martok. Martok would often give him a hard time about growing old and not dying in combat.

When Kor was appointed to the IKS Ch'Tang by Worf over Martok's objections Darok quickly became friends with the elderly Dahar master. In Darok's eyes Kor represented the Empire he remembered from his youth. Darok defended Kor even when his memory issues became apparent and Kor had to be relieved of duty.

Darok learned of the suicide mission Worf was going to undertake to keep Martok's task force from being destroyed by Dominion forces. He leaked the information to Kor, who intercepted and knocked out Worf with a hypo before Worf could beam aboard the IKS Ning'tao. Kor beamed aboard the Ning'tao and engaged in the Jem'Hadar in a battle to the death. Kor succeeded in keeping the Dominion forces busy until Martok's forces could reach friendly space. Darok brought a bottle of blood wine to the bridge. Martok, Worf, Darok, and the other warriors drank to the memory of the old Dahar master.

Darok remained with Martok through the remainder of the Dominion War as Martok became Chancellor of the Klingon Empire after Gowron. He remained loyal to the House of Martok after a coup led by Martok's former lover Gothmara and her son Morjod. Darok died in the final battle of Martok's forces against Morjod and Gothmara's warriors. When he died Darok had a smile on his face, the warriors who found him weren't sure if it was because he saw someone he wanted to see in death, or because he did not see someone he was hoping to avoid.
