David Shield is the anti-heroic secondary antagonist of the 2018 anime superhero film My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, the first installment of the My Hero Academia film series.
He is a former sidekick of the superhero All Might as well as a scientist who develops supports items for heroes. After seeing All Might's weakening body, David hires criminals to invade his island home, as a cover to steal technology which will restore his old friend's strength.
He was voiced by Katsuhisa Namase as an adult and Ryōhei Kimura as a young man in the Japanese version, and by Ray Chase in the English version.
Synopsis[]
David is Melissa's father and a scientist who creates support items for heroes. Likewise, he is All Might's best friend and the one who made his signature Golden Age costume. Episode 58 (the tie-in episode for the film) reveals that he was actually All Might's first sidekick when he started his career in the USA.
Abilities & Skills[]
David's scientific pursuits revolve around inventing support items for heroes. He has earned a Nobel Prize for his work and his uniforms are the only costumes able to withstand All Might's strength. His other inventions include a powerful Formula One-style car that can keep up with All Might and turn into a rocket jet, bubble-producing liquids that can easily nullify explosions, and a powerful Quirk-enhancing interface that can give someone enough power to challenge All Might.
