I was scared to lose your light. I was scared that the peace you built would crumble… But my ideas and that device were nothing more than ways to keep the status quo. Even though the future, and hope, were right in front of me. I didn’t notice them…
~ David Shield.

David Shield is the anti-heroic secondary antagonist of the 2018 anime superhero film My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, the first installment of the My Hero Academia film series.

He is a former sidekick of the superhero All Might as well as a scientist who develops supports items for heroes. After seeing All Might's weakening body, David hires criminals to invade his island home, as a cover to steal technology which will restore his old friend's strength.

He was voiced by Katsuhisa Namase as an adult and Ryōhei Kimura as a young man in the Japanese version, and by Ray Chase in the English version.

Synopsis[]

David is Melissa's father and a scientist who creates support items for heroes. Likewise, he is All Might's best friend and the one who made his signature Golden Age costume. Episode 58 (the tie-in episode for the film) reveals that he was actually All Might's first sidekick when he started his career in the USA.

Abilities & Skills[]

David's scientific pursuits revolve around inventing support items for heroes. He has earned a Nobel Prize for his work and his uniforms are the only costumes able to withstand All Might's strength. His other inventions include a powerful Formula One-style car that can keep up with All Might and turn into a rocket jet, bubble-producing liquids that can easily nullify explosions, and a powerful Quirk-enhancing interface that can give someone enough power to challenge All Might.
