Daynaal is a young male Trandoshan and the nephew of the infamous and notorious pirate Sellaccc Orryak, leader of the Ganguls who appeared in the Disney Junior television cartoon series "Star Wars: The Young Jedi Adventures." He was voice by actor Judd Goodstein.
Biography[]
Daynaal was a young Trandoshan male who lived during the High Republic Era. He was the nephew of the pirate Sellaccc Orryak, leader of the Ganguls. Orryak tried to teach him how to be a pirate by having him assist her in ruining the Life Day celebrations of the Wookiees on the planet Kashyyyk, although Daynaal was reluctant. After the Ganguls shot down a shuttle (In front of a horrified and shocked Daynaal) carrying food for the Life Day feast, Orryak had Daynaal transport the supplies. Daynaal was pursued to the Ganguls' shuttle by the Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs, as well as the Wookiee Johgeshakka, whose brother Rudi had been piloting the starship and had been taken prisoner by Orryak. The Ganguls captured the Jedi, but Daynaal freed them, while Orryak and the other pirates departed to cut down the Life Day tree. As the Jedi attempted to stop the pirates, Daynaal and Rudi gathered Wookiee villagers to assist them, leading the Ganguls to flee. He then confronted his wicked aunt Sellaccc Orryak, who furiously tried to kill him for betraying her, only for the Wookie Rudi to intervene and save Daynaal's life. After Sellaccc Orryak and her fellow Gangul pirates members were forced to retreat, Daynaal himself was subsequently invited by the Wookiees to celebrate the Life Day Festival with them, to which he was happy to accept.
Appearance[]
Personality[]
Unlike most Trandoshans, (including his aunt Sellaccc Orryak, leader of the Ganguls), Daynaal the reluctant Trandoshan is a good, kind, caring, honorable, and compassionate kid at heart with a sense of morality. Due to his un-Trandoshan-like behaviour and unwillingness to become a member of the Gangul's, Daynaal is seen as an outcast by the other Gangul's, especially his wicked aunt Sellaccc Orryak, who saw his sympathetic feelings as weak. Making friends with both the Jedi younglings and the Wookies made Daynaal a better person than his aunt.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Trandoshan Physiology: Like all trandoshans, Daynaal posses many of his species key traits such as arm regeneration (which is never shown), Incredible Strength, and other abilities.
- Intelligence: Daynaal is skilled, a quick problem solver, and is also resourceful.
- Strength: Despite being young, Daynaal is pretty strong enough to lift and carry heavy boxes.
- Staff: Daynaal later gets a Wookie staff when he and the other Wookie villagers arrive to help the Jedi save Life Day.
Trivia[]
- Daynaal is the first ever onscreen Trandoshan to be on the side of good.
- Daynaal is also the very first onscreen Trandoshan to be accepted as a friend to the Wookies, even though Wookies and Trandoshan are mostly known to have a rather complicated bad blood relationship toward one another as Trandoshan are primarily a vicious, savage, highly xenophobic, bad tempered, aggressive, bloodthirsty, brutish, reptilian species that are known to hunt and kill Wookies mainly for sport, pleasure, and are known to also hang their hides as prized trophies.
