The Defence Force, or fully known as the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force (JAKDF), are major characters in the science-fiction, action manga and anime series Kaiju No. 8. It is the military operation in duty of eliminating any kaijus that appears in Japan, having many based established all over their country. The organization is further led by the goverment office of anti kaijus, the Neutralization Bureau.
History[]
Since its founding, the organization was successful in its job of cleaning up any kaijus raoming around the surface of Japan. However, an infamous catastrophe took place when an infamous kaijus of the name of Kaiju No. 6 appeared, taking the lives of 200 officer-level members as well as 3 captains, including the wife of General Shinomiya, Hikari Shinomiya, the parents of Kikoru Shinomiya.

For someone to join, they have to be 33 of age or under to join. Anyone under that age will fill a document, serving as the first-part of the exam and wait to receive a letter informing whether they can take the second-exam to actually join the organization.
The second phase itself is comprised of 2 parts: physical assessment and an faculty evaluation. The former entails standard military fitness exercises (jogging, rock-climbing), while the latter, a pivotal assessment of innate capabilities, varies annually. This segment offers two potential scenarios: Kaiju Disposal or Kaiju Neutralization. Participants will be offered high-tech advanced suits that measure their something unclear, either their strength, determination, or anything else that can be either cognitive or physical abilities. The second phase takes place in an enclosed ravaged city locked kaijus in it, to serve as an environment to test the participants like in actual missions.
During the year where Kafka and Leno took the exam, participants were assigned to take down as many kaijus as possible, with the one with the top kill count holding the highest potential to pass the exam and join the organization. Successful participants receive their examination outcomes within days by mail and participate in the Presentation of Enlistment Certificate ceremony. During this event, they are formally inducted as official members of the Force, solemnly pledging to dedicate their efort for the service and protection of the country.
