Dell Hopkins is a minor character of the 2010 western action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption. He is a lawman who works in the states of West Elizabeth and New Austin and supports John in some missions.

Background[]
Dell Hopkins could possibly be born between 1860-1870, which was around the American Civil War and the Reconstruction era, causing him to be influenced and become a sheriff, which is why he is very devoted to his job although this was never confirmed and was only based on his appearance. He is a lawman who collaborates with Marshal Leigh Johnson in New Austin and with Edgar Ross in West Elizabeth on some occasions.
Red Dead Redemption[]
He can be encountered at the sheriff's office at MacFarlane's Ranch and pays John Marston after he catches and delivers a bounty target to the lawmen of Blackwater. He also smokes his cigarette in front of the Blackwater hotel after paying John.
He also appears in another random encounter mission in which a different lawman assigns Marston to deliver an outlaw to the nearest town and Dell is usually the lawman who collects the captured outlaw. Dell Hopkins can also be present with the lawmen on tracking down John Marston if he has a high bounty. Dell can be killed by John during his pursuit, although he will respawn and still appear in missions.
During the mission "Spare the Rod, Spoil the Bandit", Dell is seen riding with Marshal Johnson along with his deputies and John to investigate the mess near Ridgewood Farm. He assists them during the shootout with the bandits as well as in the shootout with Bill and his gang at Mercer Station. Dell and his group were able to take out the attacking bandits and managed to capture Norman Deek.
In the mission "Great Men are Not Always Wise", Dell Hopkins is seen again assisting John Marston, Edgar Ross, and Benton Manning in gunning down Dutch's gang in the bank. Dell, John, and Benton were then ordered by Ross to get down and reach the bank to try capturing or killing Dutch van der Linde. After confronting Dutch, Dell blames John for the death of Muriel Scranton because he didn't do anything to stop Dutch even when he had the chance to do so. He then joins and accompanies Ross and the lawmen and chases after Dutch, which fails as he was able to escape.
