“ | His small face protruded from over the collar, looking almost painfully excited. When he had lined up with his terrified-looking peers, he caught Colin Creevey's eye, gave a double thumbs-up, and mouthed, I fell in the lake! He looked positively delighted about it. | „ |
~ Dennis' excitable personality |
Dennis Creevey (b. c. 1983) is a supporting character in the Harry Potter series. He is a Muggle-born wizard, younger brother of Colin Creevey and Gryffindor student who is a member of Dumbledore's Army, became it in his second year, thanks to Harry Potter.
Personality[]
Apparently, Dennis had a personality similar to that of his older brother, so he was very excitable and obsessed with magical celebrities, primarily Harry Potter.
History[]
Early years[]
Dennis was born into the Canon family, a Muggle family. In 1992, Dennis's older brother Colin was admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the family was amazed to discover that the boy was a wizard. But he was too, Dennis. Probably the latter and his parents were frightened and worried when Colin was petrified by a basilisk.
Dennis began studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on September 1, 1994. While traveling by boat, he fell into the water and was rescued by the giant octopus. He was sorted into the Gryffindor house, as he was his brother.
First Year[]
He and Colin supported Harry during the Triwizard Tournament. During the final test, the other Hogwarts champion Cedric Diggory was assassinated by Peter Minus under orders from Voldemort. Because of their blind faith in Harry, Dennis and his brother believed him when he announced Voldemort's return. Given the latter's hatred of Muggle-borns, the news of his return likely worried them considerably.
Second year[]
The Ministry unfortunately refused to believe Voldemort's return and appointed Dolores Umbridge as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher hoping to get her to take control of the school. Dolores turned out to be cruel and incompetent and refused to teach practical defensive spells to any student. To remedy Harry, Ron and Hermione founded an underground Defense group, Dumbledore's Army, which both Canon brothers joined. It is worth noting that Dennis broke the school rules by accompanying his brother to Hogsmeade for the first meeting of the group, as you can only go to the village from the third year and up, but it is not known how he did it.
Third year[]
Dennis and his brother were thrilled when the Gryffindor Quidditch team won their first game of the season, and tried to get Harry an action-by-action analysis of the match. Colin was not among the ES members who participated in the fight with the Death Eaters at the end of the year, but probably only because he no longer controlled the bogus galleon the members communicated with and therefore did not see Hermione's request for help. It is possible that he attended Albus Dumbledore's funeral.
Clandestinity[]
When Voldemort gained control of the Ministry, he began hunting Muggle-borns and therefore Dennis and his brother were unable to return to Hogwarts. It is probable that in this period the Canons went underground. Although he could no longer attend school, Colin returned to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts alongside other members of Dumbledore's army, but it is not known whether Dennis did the same. Colin died in the fight, while it is unknown what happened to Dennis. Since he is not listed in the Fallen Fifty he is likely to have survived.
