~ Depa Billaba |
Depa Billaba is a supporting character in the Star Wars franchise.
Depa serves on the Jedi High Council and went on missions to Nar Shaddaa and Haruun Kal. In the stress of battle, Depa succumbs to the dark side of the Force. Jedi Master Mace Windu rescued Billaba from the space pirates who killed her parents. Eventually, Windu took Billaba as his Padawan. Over the years, they have developed a close bond.
Depa later sat on the Council when Master Qui-Gon Jinn came forth with knowledge of the Sith's return and a young boy named Anakin Skywalker believed to be the Chosen One. Not long after a disgruntled Jinn returned to Naboo, where he was slain by the Zabrak Sith and cremated on a funeral pyre there, a ceremony which Depa attended.
Billaba offered an ordered perspective to the wide-ranging minds of her fellow Jedi.
Depa Billaba was wise and spiritual. She practiced the traditional culture of her planet, Chalacta, in honor of her parents. However, Depa fought in a brutal guerrilla war on Mace Windu's homeworld, Haruun Kal, and fell to the dark side.
Depa Billaba took on an apprentice named Kanan Jarrus who survived the Jedi Purge, lived on to continue his Jedi training and trained another, Ezra Bridger, in the ways of the Force, both of whom became heroes in the Rebel Alliance.
