Biography[]
Devcon was an Autobot who left Cybertron at some point during the Great War. He became a bounty hunter, tracking Decepticons, and followed Ramjet, Dirge and Astrotrain to the planet Monacus. There, he met up with Smokescreen and his ally, the gambler Bosch. He also saved Slizardo, the henchman of the local crime boss Lord Gyconi, from a couple of robot thugs, earning Slizardo's undying gratitude. Smokescreen asked his help in freeing a group of other Autobots led by Optimus Prime who were being held by Gyconi as payment for a gambling debt having been placed in a form of stasis.
When Smokescreen was ambushed by Dirge and Ramjet, Devcon came to his rescue, managing to shoot the pair down. Smokescreen noted they could use him on Earth. Devcon declined to join him but did agree to help free his friends. They were then approached by Slizardo, who explained that the Decepticons were about to take the captive Autobots off planet. Devcon joined Smokescreen in attacking the Decepticons, with his contribution allowing the four captive Autobots to be ushered to safety. The Decepticons fled the scene and Devcon opted to pursue them off planet, inviting Slizardo to join him as his new partner.
Trivia[]
- Devcon was originally named Defcon but there was a veto on using cold war terminology in the series, so the spelling was changed but his name was essentially pronounced the same. Despite the name being given as Devcon in the script, many fans believed he was called Defcon until he was included in a comic by 3H Publications several years later.
