Dimitri is one of three potential animal allies that Link can call on for assistance in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. He is a young red Dodongo that can traverse waterways with relative ease, even swim up waterfalls, and can gobble up most things in a single bite. Link can also carry him around instead of riding him using the Power Bracelet/Power Gloves.
Biography[]
In Oracle of Seasons, Dimitri is found being tormented by the boys who serve as the safety patrol for Sunken City in Holodrum. To help Dimitri, Link offers the boys all of his bombs. Once the boys leave to go on patrol with the bombs, Dimitri thanks Link for the help and allows him to ride him so Link can reach the Master Diver and pass his test to acquire the Zora's Flippers to swim. Otherwise, he would need Dimitri to get anywhere due to his ability to swim up waterfalls. Before that, if Link acquires a Strange Flute from the Subrosian Dance Hall after passing the mini-game, he'll find Dimitri being tormented by three soldiers of the Great Moblin in Spool Swamp. Once Link pays them 80 Rupees to get them to leave, Dimitri helps him navigate the area to reach the Poison Moth's Lair, and the Strange Flute becomes Dimitri's Flute. This also bypasses the encounter with the boys in Sunken City as Dimitri will be needed to navigate the Natzu Region, which is now the "Natzu River", requiring Dimitri to swim through to reach Sunken City.
In Oracle of Ages, after Link completes the Moonlit Grotto dungeon on present-day Crescent Island, he finds Dimitri on the shoreline being looked over by two Tokay, who intend to eat him. Link offers the Tokay some Ember Seeds to eat instead, and the Tokay scamper off to find water when the Ember Seeds prove to be too hot for them to handle. Grateful for the help, Dimitri gives Link a ride back to the mainland from Crescent Island, then takes his leave once Link is able to get back to Lynna City on his own. If Link acquired a Strange Flute from the Lynna City Item Shop before making his way to Symmetry City to reach the fourth dungeon, the Skull Dungeon, the fairies from the Fairy Woods will seek him out, telling him Dimitri got lost in their forest and needs Link's help to rescue him. Once Link finds Dimitri, the fairies will transport them safely back to the forest entrance before taking their leave. Appreciating the help, Dimitri turns the Strange Flute into Dimitri's Flute so Link can call on him for help when needed. Link then uses Dimitri to navigate the Nuun Highlands to find Mutoh's men so they can finish the bridge to Symmetry City.
In a Linked Game, if Dimitri was Link's animal companion in the first game, he will automatically receive Dimitri's Flute after helping Dimitri in the second game while making his way to the third or fourth dungeon.
