The history of young paranormal investigator Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls.

Normal Past[]

Born on August 31, 1999, Mason Pines grew up with his eccentric twin-sister Mabel in Piedmont, California. where they would be each others best friend, while growing up, kids would often tease him due to having a birthmark in the form of the Big Dipper Constellation which made everyone call him "Dipper", this made him hide his birthmark at the age of 5 in shame.

Nevertheless, growing up with his family were happy times for Dipper. They would celebrate all forms of holidays together, specifically Halloween because he would go trick-or-treating with Mabel, and his hidden smarts even helped him get through great years of school together with his sister.

Going to Gravity Falls[]

Dipper and mabel packed up

Dipper & Mabel all ready to spend summer away from home.

At some point Dipper overheard an argument between his parents that traumatized him, implied to be divorce. In the summer of 2012, now 12-years-old, alongside Mabel, are sent by their parents away to spend their summer away from home when they "felt like they needed fresh air." They sent them up north to a sleepy-town in central Oregon called "Gravity Falls" which is the home of their paternal great-uncle (or "Grunkle" as they call him) Stanford or "Stan" for short.

Dipper and Mabel working in the shack

Dipper inside his summer home... and part-time job

Grunkle Stan runs his house as a tourist trap called the Mystery Shack and upon meeting them, they quickly discover that he is a showman, falsifying the mundane into "evidence" of the strange and supernatural, though Dipper sees that the real mystery was that the dim-witted locals of the town easily buy it. During their stay, Dipper & Mabel became employees at the Mystery Shack alongside it's handyman Soos Ramirez, who saw their great-uncle as a father-figure, & Wendy Corduroy a teenage girl who works as a cashier & whom Dipper develops a crush on (despite her being a lot older than him).

While he did see everything in the Mystery Shack as a fake, Dipper would always have an uncanny feeling and occasionally felt an unnerved feeling about the town's "monster in the forest legends", believing their are more to their sightings then they are saying. Though while Soos believes in these conspiracies, Stan & his sister would shrug his paranoia off and would continue on with their personal stuff. While Stan would continue to make money off of these legends, Mabel sees their 1st summer away from home as a chance for her to have an "epic summer romance" and pretty much (as Dipper puts it) flirts with every boy she meets, which either disturbs or frighten them, though Dipper remains believing in his theories but thinks that with living with his Grunkle, working in the shack was "going to be the same, boring routine all summer", unaware that one day will change him & his family's life forever.

Discovering the Journal[]

One fateful day, Dipper gets a strange message in the form of Mosquito bites that frighteningly spell-out "BEWARE" which immediately terrifies him, but since it was actually spelled "BEWARB" (the Mosquitos who gave him the message are absolutely terrible at spelling), his Grunkle brushes it off when he gives him the job of hanging up signs to the mystery shack in the spooky part of the forest.

Gravity Falls Dipper Pines Find THE JOURNAL

Dipper discovering the Journal

By chance Dipper finds a hollowed-out tree-stump, with a mechanical box with two levers inside, when he flips them, it opens up a hole where he finds a mysterious Journal inside it. The Journal, with a 6-fingered hand symbol & the number 3 on the cover, was written by a mysterious author who had started confirming that there are actual supernatural occurrences, once which he/she says are drawn to the region. Dipper is surprised by all the things & creatures the journal contains, but finds a message from the author that says the reason he hid the book was because he felt he was being watched by a mysterious enemy with a message to all readers that says you have to "TRUST NO ONE" in Gravity Falls, which just fuels up his nervousness.

First encounter with the Falls' weirdness[]

Dipper suspicious of Norman...

Dipper being weary about her sister's new "boyfriend"...

Dipper is terrified

...And frightened he might be undead

Taking the Journal back home & showing it to Mabel, Dipper actually gets the chance to use the Journal's knowledge when Mabel reveals to the family that she actually managed to find a boyfriend who claims to be a teenager named "Norman" who Mabel met at the cemetery, but after sensing something strange about Norman, he decided to consult the Journal's knowledge to see if it could help. Reading the Journals contents to see if any one of it's creatures would tell something of "Norman's" behavior, Dipper finds one page that he sees that describe "Norman" the most: his pale skin and bad attitude makes him think that he's actually a surprisingly intelligent zombie, but since he doesn't have any proof of it, he is able to get advice from Soos that to make sure everyone believes him, he's gotta have evidence to prove it.

Dipper searching for evidence

Dipper spying on "Norman" to see if he's right.

Knowing the handyman is right, Dipper decides to secretly follow Mabel & "Norman" around to see if he's correct. Following the "couple" around town, Dipper is somewhat able to gather enough to at least confirm his suspicions are correct, but when he shows what he thinks "Norman" actually is in the Journal, Mabel, who's actually hoping to be some kind of supernatural creature (she hopes he might actually be a vampire), doesn't believe him & shuts the door to their bedroom on him. Going out, Dipper thinks Mabel might be right as he looks back at the evidence he recorded, but when he pays more attention to one video he recorded he witnesses one of his hands fall of with Mabel not noticing, confirming what he believes to be true. With Stan to busy with making money from his "attractions", Dipper is able to get Wendy to give him the Shack's Golf-cart & is able to get weapons from Soos and goes of into the forest to rescue his sister.

Awkward sibling hat

Dipper hugging Mabel after defeating the gnomes

Following his sister's sudden cries for help, Dipper arrives at Mabel's location somewhere in the woods, but when he makes it he's actually surprised to discover that "Norman" is neither a vampire or a zombie as they thought because he turned out to be a bunch of Gnomes stacked together & their leader Jeff intends to forcefully marry Mabel to make her their queen. Cutting her sister free, Dipper takes her sister & flees the Gnomes, but they prove to be more stronger than he thought when they are shown to be able to unite & form a giant gnome monster, giving chase to the twins through the forest, Dipper & Mabel are cornered by them as they make it to the mystery shack, just before Dipper can look into the Journal, Mabel seemingly gives into Jeff's proposal, but just as she kisses him, Mabel grabs a leaf-blower to suck him in and allows Dipper to shoot out directly at the giant one, splitting it apart, sends Jeff flying and scare the other Gnomes away. After scaring them away, Mabel apologizes for her earlier doubts which makes Dipper comforts her while also gives hope that her next one might actually be a vampire, which is enough to cheer her up as they do their "awkward-sibling hug".

Dipper's new look

Dipper adjusting his new hat

Entering the Shack afterwards, Grunkle Stan allows them to take some of the merchandise for fun, & while Mabel get an actual grappling-hook, Dipper gets a brand new hat (his last one was lost during the gnome chase) with a blue & white color-themed and a Pine tree in the front. Later that night, Dipper decides to keep the Journal so he can finish the author's unfinished entries & with Mabel at his side, wonders what other mysteries in the town are waiting to be discovered by them.

Dipper feeling ready to see more weirdness

Dipper wondering if there's more out there... not knowing how right he is

As Dipper and her sister officially get some shut-eye, completely unbeknownst to both of them, while Grunkle Stan may be a shady & somewhat-professional (mainly due to all the local residents being to dumb to realize the weirdness happening in their town) con-artist, he too has secrets that he doesn't want anyone else knowing, so secret that it's got to the point where he even has a secret room hidden behind the vending-machine which he enters every night.

Cracking his first Mystery[]

That did not end well

Dipper, Mabel, and Wendy watching the angry guests leave

Sometime after going through the Gnome adventure, Dipper & Mabel are guided by Soos to an abandoned room where Stan (who was already inside it) shows them the wax museum attraction, one of the Mystery Shack's biggest attractions before he closed them inside it, after Mabel makes him a new wax-figure (a model of himself) out of one that melted, Stan decides it's enough for him to reopen the museum. Unfortunately, Stan lied that there will be free pizza & once everyone questions it he runs inside with everyone's paid money, making everyone leave the Shack in a fury.

Dipper determined to prove the cops wrong

Dipper rallying Mabel to find Wax Stan's vandalized to prove to the cops they're wrong about him.

Later that night while they're preparing for bed, Dipper & Mabel discover that while Stan went to the bathroom, wax Stan got mysteriously decapitated and when Blubs & Durland, the local authorities who are just to dumb and lazy to even solve the case, forces Dipper to get him & Mabel to find wax Stan's head & prove to the cops that they're wrong about him.

Dipper suspects board

Dipper's suspects on who's the murderer

The next day, Dipper & Mabel begin searching for the vandalizer's identity when they find their first clue: footprints in the carpet with one shoe that has a hole inside of them which lead to an axe behind the chair, with Soos' inspection, they deduce that their first suspect to talk to would be the giant & aggressive lumberjack Manly Dan, & are even allowed to by Stan since he's their uncle. Upon going to the biker joint he regularly visits, Dipper learns from Manly Dan that the axe is actually a left-handed, & he's right-handed, making Dipper lead the mystery to the vandalizer that's left-handed, after going around town, Dipper seems to finally deduce the suspects he's looking for. That night, Dipper leads the cops to the office of the supposed suspect Toby Determined who runs the Gravity Falls Gossiper, seeing how all the clues seemingly lead up to him, however, he reveals that he was actually making out with a cardboard cutout of the girl of his dreams, and when the cops check the axe, they find it has no fingerprints, which leaves him both confused and very embarrassed.

Dipper realizing who the vandalizer is, before they confirm his suspension

Dipper discovering who cut off Wax Stan's head... before they come alive.

After that incident, Dipper, his sister, Soos (along with the other wax figures) attend a funeral for wax Stan hosted by the original Stan which causes Stan & Soos to leave run out of the room crying, but when they leave, Dipper discovers that one of wax Stan's shoes has a hole in it which makes Mabel say that pretty much all the wax statues have them, explaining that's how they stick to their poles. This revelation makes Dipper realize that not only did he discover who the vandalizer is, but they discover that the Wax figures are cursed objects that come alive every night & their leader: a wax version of famous detective Sherlock Holmes, explain that he was actually trying to murder Stan as their revenge for him locking them away, they just got wax Stan by mistake, much to their shock.

Gravity_Falls_-Wax_off_fight

Things then take a turn for the worst when now that they know their secret, the wax people decide to kill them to ensure that their secret remains hidden, backed into a corner, the twins discover that they can melt them due to them being wax, which allows them to wipe the floor with them. During the fight, Dipper is soon forced to swordfight against Sherlock with a fire iron as his weapon, thinking fast, Dipper leads the mad wax detective outside long enough for the sun to rise & melt him back to liquid. Afterwards, Mabel discards all the wax people into the fire, return wax Stan's head to Stan, & even rub in the cops faces that an "adorable city boy" beat them in cracking an unsolvable case, though the head of wax Larry King is still alive but he doesn't actually pose a threat to them when they find him.

Meeting Li'l Gideon[]

Dipper seeing Gideon for the 1st time

Dipper unimpressed with his uncle's "business rival"

Sometime after that while watching TV, Dipper, Mabel, & Soos find a commercial that is promoting Stan's business rival Gideon Gleeful, who claims he's a psychic, which makes them curious enough to go visit his latest show despite Stan's disapproval. When they see it, Dipper sees Gideon, whose actually just a child, as an even bigger fraud then Stan thanks to his adorable looks & easily deceiving the foolish audience while Mabel finds it impressive, with neither of them aware of someone else's astonished feelings.

Dipper mabel

Dipper promising to tell Gideon that Mabel's dumping her.

The next day, Mabel is visited by Gideon himself, who admits to Mabel that after meeting her during the show last night, he developed a crush on Mabel & asks her out on a playdate, to which she accepts. But while she still sees him as a friend, his feeling for her soon grow and he asks her out on an actual date, which she couldn't bring herself to say no to & thanks to a crowd around them, later that night, Gideon pulls her into the romance zone & invites her to a completely romantic club, & even worse, Stan (who was at first against Gideon going out with his great niece) makes a deal with him that promises a lot of money if she actually marries him, which terrifies her. Bummed with seeing his sister like this, Dipper volunteers to say to Gideon that Mabel's not into him on Mabel's behalf, which seemingly works at first, but has dire prices that will come to bite him back big time.

Dipper watching Gideon's telepathy powers

Dipper watching Gideon use telepathy before being attacked by it.

A little while after that, Dipper gets a call from Toby Determined (who apologizes to the latter about framing him for his last mystery) who says that he wants to to know about all that he's learned about the town's theories, which Dipper excitedly accepts & agrees to meet him on 412 Gopher Road, which is actually the home of an abandoned warehouse, Little did he know was that Toby was bribed to bring him there by Gideon in exchange for his crush's phone number. When Dipper arrives, he is confronted by Gideon who angrily accuses him of turning Mabel against her, but he also reveals that he is indeed right about Gravity Falls "having secrets [he] couldn't begin to comprehend", which he is shown to have knowledge about when he reveals to have an enchanted amulet that allows it's user to levitate stuff & attacks Dipper with it, which makes him realize that his uncle was right about him being a monster.

The Pines' twins & Gideon levitating

Dipper & Gideon rescued by Mabel before crashing to the ground.

Eventually Mabel decides it's time to break up with Gideon herself & arrives just in time for her to witness Gideon try & kill her brother (as well as seeing his True colors), Gideon tries to explain, but Mabel grabs the amulet & tosses it to Dipper once he's free, but Gideon tackles him which sends them both falling to the ground, fortunately, Mabel uses the amulet to save them before officially breaking up with him & destroying his amulet, making Gideon vow revenge on their whole family. Despite his threats, Dipper & Mabel brush it of as the former thinks without the amulet, he's nothing but a defenseless con-artist.

Little does he know is that while Gideon has made a handmade-version of the Mystery Shack, he promises from afar to Dipper that he'll see his revenge come to them, while also revealing to the audience that his knowledge of the amulet & the town's supernatural wonders is that he too is in possession of a Journal containing Gravity Falls' bizarre phenomena's, which even resembles Dipper's Journal with the sole exception of a 2 being in front.

Heading to a haunted convenient store[]

After awhile, Dipper & Mabel hang out with Wendy up in the roof during breaktime, which slowly fuels up his crush on her, which is something Mabel easily catches up on, & although he tries to deny it, Dipper learns he's right when he actually lays awake at night thinking about her, much to his distraught.

The next day, when Wendy learns that she's heading somewhere with her friends, Dipper lies about his & Mabel's age as a chance to hang out with her, afterwards, he gets on a good grounds with Wendy's friends, but soon finds himself on the bad side of the emo rocker of the group Robbie after he accidentally mocked his graffiti on the water tower before everyone set of to their location: the abandoned convenient store "Dusk 2 Dawn" which was closed because of some people who died their.

After spending sometime hanging there, Dipper begins discovering some unsettling things in the store, but can't bring himself to tell anyone else because they'll just think he's the "scared, little kid" he fears Wendy might not understand. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when he lays on the spot where the murdered people were, which awakens the ghosts of the store which slowly takes them one-by-one and possesses his sister (who went into a food coma after consuming numerous banned candy) to communicate with them, after taking cover with Wendy & thinks of why they would be taken, when she mentions the things they were doing are just "normal teenage things, Dipper discovers what he has to do to save everyone.

Standing before the possessed-Mabel, Dipper says with Wendy watching that he's not a teenager, which enough for the ghost, actually just the ghosts of an old couple to let Mabel free. To convince them to let the others free, Dipper embarassingly & willingly performs "the lamby dance" to appease them & let the others go, which they fortunately do, & Wendy was so impressed with his bravery that she covered up the fact of his embarassing moment, giving everyone (except Robbie) newfound respect for him as they all leave the store.

Discovering a National secret[]

The Mystery twins spring into action.

Dipper & Mabel prepare to discover who really found the town.

During the town's annual pioneer day of which they due to celebrate the day Gravity Falls was founded (which Stan was trying to avoid because everyone acts like their from the 1600's), Dipper soon tries to comfort Mabel after her attempt to light the festivities only ends up getting mocked by the local rich-girl Pacifica Northwest for her silliness, & due to her great-grandfather being the "founder" of the town, the whole crowd other than her brother don't feel sorry for her. Wanting to cheer her sister up, Dipper remembers reading about something in the journal that suggests Nathaniel may not be the man history claimed he is which sends the twins on another mystery not just to put Pacifica's family in her place, but to find out who the true founder is.

Dipper & Mabel eager to discover who the real founder is.

Dipper and her sister about to find out who really founded the town.

Going around the town to decipher the clue the author found, Mabel's silly-antics surprisingly lead them to a hidden trove of historic cover-ups sealed away by the government to ensure it doesn't spread towards the public. Upon finding a file hidden specifically for the Northwest family, the twins not only learn that Nathaniel Northwest was never the town's founder (actually used to be manure shovelling village idiot) but also learn that the real founder was actually a man named Quentin Trembly, just as Mabel questions who Quentin Trembly is, they are caught by Blubs & Durland.

Gravity_Falls_-_Who_is_Quentin_Trembley?

Gravity Falls - Who is Quentin Trembley?

Dipper and his sister watch who Quentin trembly is.

Afterwards, Dipper & Mabel learn via a film-reel the life of Quentin Trembly: Originally a man who participated in the the 1837 presidential election, a literal landslide occurred that kills all the other candidates and left him the sole survivor, making him win by default & becoming the 8½th President of America. Unfortunately, he was an insane man who garnered the reputation of America's silliest president, making up several absurd and crazy policies which ultimately led him to be kicked out of office & escaping to the valley he named Gravity Falls (after plummeting into it 'cause he was riding his getaway horse backwards) & made it's many odd rules, upon his disappearance he was officially replaced by William Harrison as president & Nathaniel as town founder. Afterwards Blubs reveals the man's body encased in solid peanut brittle due to his belief he could use it to live forever, he also explains that he & Durland were tasked with finding his body & found it due to Mabel leaving a trail of candy wrappers along the way before being sealed in a crate along with Trembly taken back to Washington DC on the train.

The Twins meeting Quentin Trembly

Dipper & Mabel discovering Trembly is alive

Depressed with thinking she caused this, Mabel eats a piece of the peanut brittle which releases Quentin's body that's surprisingly alive, afterwards with some unexpected help from a woodpecker (Quentin actually made a law where it would be legal to marry them), the crate opens up which allows them to get into a chase across the train by the cops. Just as they were cornered, Dipper advises Quentin to trick the cops into forgetting about their whole mission and leave on a vacation, and due to their stupidity, they gladly do.

A goodbye for now to a president

Dipper & Mabel bid farewell to Quentin

Returning to town, Quentin, happy that the twins set him free, sorta makes Mabel a congressman but impressed with Dipper's genius, gives him his president's key which can open any lock in the country before riding off backwards. Afterwards, after Mabel chooses not to reveal about her family's conspiracy, Dipper decides to do it himself & shows her the document about her family's secret while also calling her family a sham, later, they go onto free their uncle, who due to everyone's acting got himself locked up in stocks, and with the key they do so with ease.

Time-loop adventure[]

S1e9 depressed dipper

Dipper depressed after giving Wendy a black eye.

When Stan decides to open-up a carnival, Dipper gets the chance to ask Wendy out on a (rather platonic) date, but when he plays a baseball game, he accidentally hits Wendy right in the eye which allows Robbie to step in & ask her out on a date which she accepts, leaving him heartbroken. On the other hand, Mabel has a different chance of luck when spotting a poster and wins herself a pet pig she names Waddles.

S1e9 the twins prepare to go back in time

Dipper and Mabel as they go back in time

Later that evening, Dipper encounters a man who got in the way of him treating Wendy's eye who reveals himself to be a time-traveler from the future named Blendin with a tape measure that allows it's user to go anywhere in time, who says he's on a mission to stop a time anomaly, but when Dipper advises him to take a break, he takes the tape & plans to use it to go back in time to stop himself from striking Wendy in the eye with Mabel tagging along to win Waddles again, but each time he does so it results in the same way.

After several tries, Dipper is successfully able to not only avoid hitting Wendy but also wins her a stuffed-animal she wanted with Mabel's help, but with her involvement, it causes Waddles to won by someone else, much to her shock. Wanting to undo it, Mabel wants to go back in time & get Waddles, but Dipper declines it, leading them to get stuck in the pioneer times where she intentionally messes it up. After a crazy chase through time, the twins end up back to the present they currently made, & when Dipper rejects Mabel's plea, she dejectedly bumps her head on the totem pole in sadness. Not believing in it at first, Dipper tries to prove it by sending himself forward in a day, week, & a month in the future, but still finds her depressed state, which ultimately makes set the original timeline back to when it was.

S1e9 that% 27ll do pig

Dipper glad he at least made his sister happy.

After being bear-hugged by a thankful Mabel & Waddles, Dipper is soon confronted by an angry Blendin before being arrested by superior time agents Lolph & Dundgren for failing in his mission, which makes him realize that they were the time anomaly (Mabel's mess-up in the pioneer times have still continued through there) he was meant to stop. Though still bummed with hitting Wendy in the eye, Mabel decides to cheer him up by sending Waddles at Robbie & humiliating him in front of the public & make everyone (him & Wendy included) laugh, which makes him happily remark to Waddles that'll do.

A "little" problem[]

S1e11 dipper has a crystal

Dipper collecting a height crystal.

Sometime later, Dipper soon gets his insecurities get the better of him when his sister (being born 5 minutes earlier) rubs it in his face when she's grown a few millimeter taller than him, which causes him to look in the journal for a way to make himself taller. Using the book, Dipper went to a part of the forest where there are crystals that grow or shrink the objects that enter it's range of light, taking a shard & strapping it onto a flashlight, Dipper uses it to make himself slightly taller, but when he uses it on himself again, Mabel catches him in the act which causes them to fight over the flashlight. This however, takes a turn for the worst when Gideon, who spent most of the day trying to get Stan to hand over the deed to the Mystery Shack over to him (he saw this as the best way to get revenge on the Pines family), witnesses the whole scenario & grabs the flashlight to shrink them before taking them back to his home.

S1e11 twins tickling their enemy

The Twins tickling Gideon into submission.

With the twins now as his prisoners, Gideon begins to interrogate Dipper on how he found the crystal, but he refuses to answer his question. And when Stan thinks he has them as prisoners as a joke, Gideon decides to just simply shrink Stan & take the shack by force, rushing back home before Gideon, the twins are seemingly too late to stop him, but are thankfully relieved when Gideon found out he just shrank Soos instead, after settling their earlier size feud, which was due to fact that Dipper won in many other games prior, he & Mabel are able to tickle Gideon into submission & letting Stan roll him out of the shack before getting the flashlight & return to their normal size, with Dipper letting her keep an extra millimeter which he replies that she earned it.

Unbeknownst to them, while Gideon truly did want the shack as an act of revenge, it was also part of the reason of him wanting it. He also intends to search the shack for something that lies inside it. That something is heavily implied to be Dipper's Journal & the latter's earlier interrogation was the closest he got to him realizing Gideon's plan.

A spooky "Summer"-ween[]

S1e12 what to do for the night now

Dipper unsure how to spend the holiday now.

On June 30th, Mabel & Dipper are introduced to "Summerween", a holiday in Gravity Falls because the townsfolk love the regular holiday so much, while easily excited about the holiday, Dipper initially has his view on the holiday (& Halloween in general) changed when Wendy says trick-or-treating is only for kids & invited him to go to a Halloween party she & Robbie are going too, making him feel conflicted about going trick-or-treating with his sister & her friends.

S1e12 yadda yadda tick or treat blah blah or die

Dipper now being forced to trick-or-treat by the summerween trickster

Unfortunately, Dipper is actually forced to go trick-or-treating when he and the others are confronted by a creature known as the Summerween Trickster: a monster of town folklore that comes out every Summerween that attacks those who "lack Summerween spirit". The Trickster warns them to collect as many candy as possible & if the last candle is blown down, he will come and eat them, which makes Dipper come along with the girls & Soos to collect as much Candy as possible.

S1e12 Not the best end of summerween

Dipper & co. caught before being rescued.

After a long-haul of collecting candy, Dipper is soon caught by the others (he faked being sick to try & get out of trick-or-treating before the Trickster revealed himself to them) about his earlier ruse & soon lose all the candy they got. When they attempt to stop the last one from going out but accidentally blow it out themselves & the Trickster pounces on them, fortunately they are rescued by Soos & hop on his truck, though Dipper is given the cold shoulder by his sister about his earlier lie, unfortunately, the Trickster is actually shown to be a shapeshifter who soon crashes the truck inside a convenient store.

Letting Soos have his treats

Dipper and the others awkwardly letting Soos eat the Trickster.

While hiding, Dipper admits that the other reason that the other reason he didn't wanna go was because he was feeling he was getting older, which makes Mabel admit that she wanted to go trick-or-treating was because she just wanted to make-up for the remaining ones they had left. After settling their differences, they attempt to escape the store, but Soos (under the pressure of all the fear they've been facing) plays with a talking skull & get eaten by the Trickster, the kids attempt to attack the monster with the toy weapons they got, but are also captured & the Trickster reveals himself to be a sentient monster made out of all the candy that got rejected by the kids every year, making him vow that if he won't be eaten by anyone at all then he'll eat everyone else. Fortunately they are rescued when Soos, being a true candy enthusiast, eats his way out of his belly before eating the rest of him, which actually makes the monster happy.

S1e12 mabel bandage

Dipper healing up Mabel's wound.

Returning back to the shack, Dipper admits to going trick-or-treating to Wendy, but is actually fine with it because the party was actually a lame one, though the others are still down that they don't have any candy, Grunkle Stan shows them hundreds of candy for them he got after scaring away to kids when they saw him half naked. Celebrating while watching Halloween movie, Dipper treats a wound Mabel got earlier, which makes her happy, while also reconciling about their earlier argument.

Helping Mabel run the Shack[]

S1e13 Dipper and his temporary boss.

Dipper just after his sister made a bet with Stan

On another particular eventful day, after being used as one of his uncles propagandas, Dipper & the others are later forced to paint the Shack's sign to attract more customers, but then things get an unexpected when after Mabel learns that Stan rejected the idea of Soos being the Shack's mascot, she makes a bet with Stan over who could make more money: If Mabel wins the bet, she gets full control of the shack & Stan must sing an apology song with lyrics she made, but if Stan wins she'll have to wear a shirt with the word "LOSER" on it. Though initially worried for Mabel, Dipper decides to calm down because he thinks there's no way for Stan to make so much money on vacation, unaware that Stan is actually using his vacation as an excuse to go on a game-show where he can win money.

S1e13 behold... The Gremloblin

Dipper showing off the Gremloblin

With Stan gone, Dipper enjoyed the treatment Mabel gave the employees, with him being given the job of capturing an actual monster for the Shack, and with his journal in hand, he heads off into the forest to find the right monster that could be perfect for a prop. After some searching, Dipper is successful in capturing a monster in the form of a beast in the journal called the Gremloblin, a giant Goblin & Gremlin hybrid with the power to show people their worst nightmares, however, the tourists see this as fake and get paralyzed with fear, forcing Mabel to give out some of their money.

Gravity_Falls_-_Gremloblin

The Twins dealing with a loose monster

To make matters worse, the Gremloblin manages to break free from the cage he was locked in, because Mabel left him a key inside his cage for a 10-minute break and begins wrecking havoc in the shack, fortunately, Dipper is able to scare the monster away by making him see his worst fear (being his dad) & flies away in fear. Unfortunately, with little money left and Stan coming home soon, Mabel goes through the tough boss style with Dipper showing tourists the bizarre & fake attractions they apparently adore & love, earning enough money to help Mabel win her bet with Stan.

S1e13 celebrating Stan losing

Dipper & the others cheering for Mabel's victory.

On the day of Stan's return, Dipper & the others count the money they have to pay for the damage the Gremloblin caused, but it all soon runs down to just one dollar just as Stan returns to the Mystery Shack to hear everything. But just as Stan boasts that he just won 30,000 dollars, he reveals that he lost all of them because he got the word to win it all wrong because it was the word "please" (which Stan initially thought would never win a million dollars), making Mabel win by one dollar. But while Stan is eager to follow through with the bet, Mabel willingly lets him take control of the shack, which Stan happily accepts. Fortunately, Dipper is able to turn Mabel's win into enjoyment for her when he reminds her of Stan doing an apology song made by her, which she along with everyone help record.

Journey into Stan's mind[]

Watching Stan beat up Gideon

On a rainy day, Dipper and his family watch another commercial promoting Gideon's business but get a warning that Gideon is planning on moving his business on the property of the mystery shack, which Stan says that it can only be possible if he somehow has the deed to the shack. When Gideon breaks in and tries to find out the code to the safe where the deed is in, Stan easily shoos him away, but when he boasts to himself that the code to the safe is in his brain, he provokes a spying Gideon to use "[his] journal's greatest secret" against him.

The next day, when a bat flies into the kitchen, Stan has Dipper take care of it, but after spending most of the summer having to deal with his uncle's crazy orders (when he wasn't solving mysteries), Dipper says he's had enough & tries to put his foot down on the task, but after a brief stare-down with Stan, Dipper soon faces the bat & gets clawed wounds. After being treated with bandages, Dipper angrily shoots a nerf-dart at a portrait of Stan after he wonders what he really thinks of him, unaware that he was gonna get his answer much sooner than expected.

S1e19 The gang before entering Stan's mind

Dipper and co. preparing themselves to enter Stan's mind.

Afterwards, while cleaning up the living room with Stan asleep, Dipper gets a surprised warning from Mabel & Soos because they had secretly watched Gideon, in an attempt to steal the safe's code, summon a sentient one-eyed yellow floating triangle & ordered him to enter Stan's mind & steal the code, when reading his page on his journal, Dipper learns that he's actually a dangerously powerful & crazy dream demon named Bill Cipher the author encountered, and warned every reader to "never let him into [their] mind". Upon witnessing Bill in a shadowy state enter Stan's mind, Dipper & the others prepare a circle around the sleeping Stan & reciting a chant, Dipper teleports them all into Stan's mind to beat the demon to the code.

S1e19 Dipper has a hole in his heart

Dipper heartbroken when he think Stan hates him.

Upon entering Stan's mind, they find a blurry version of the Mystery shack before being immediately confronted by Bill, who quickly shows just how dangerous he is by going intangible on Mabel & blasting a hole right through Dipper body before flying through the mind shack. Going through the maze of minds of Stan's memories, Dipper comes across a section of Stan's memories revolving around him, which urges him to see what he really thinks of him, upon peaking through one, he comes to the depressing conclusion that Stan actually hates him due to (seemingly) calling him "useless" and "wanting to get rid of him" to Soos in secret while he was chopping wood one time, making him angrily give up on stopping Bill's plan even when he actually succeeds in finding the memory.

Dipper with a new sense of clarity for Stan

Dipper seeing the positives of Stan's behaviour on him.

However, while trying to find a way out of Stan's mind, Dipper stumbles upon the same memory of Stan taunting him from earlier, only to discover that it was only half of the memory he witnessed as he also told Soos that when he was a kid, he was as meek as Dipper was, & when his Dad signed him up for boxing lessons (which was worse than his time being bullied on playgrounds), he actually learns that the lessons are actually paying off when he beats up a thug to save a girl, with Stan even saying that he's being tough on Dipper is because "So when the world fights, he fights back", making him feel less-resentful on him. Then when he accidentally stumbles into the memory, he gets some wise words from the memory Stan that in the mind, anything is possible for everyone to do, which is something he takes to heart after he fixes the hole in his stomach.

Gravity falls Dreamscaperers Fight

Dipper and co. fighting Bill in the mind.

With this newfound knowledge, Dipper rushes to save Mabel & Soos from Bill: They were able to prevent Bill from telling Gideon the code to the safe, but upon doing so, learn that Bill (who claims that they just cost him something very important) is an even more dangerous monster when angry by bringing their worst fears to life. But just as they're about to be destroyed, Dipper swoops in & blasts a hole right through his body as payback for what he did to him earlier, and after telling the other two of the mind's abilities, they easily push back Bill's attacks & imagine a hole they plan to shove him out of Stan's mind, but Bill still proves himself to be more powerful in the mind, but even though he destroys the portal out of Stan's mind he admits that he's impressed with their skills (especially with Dipper) and willingly leaves Stan's mind, but not before warning them of a coming darkness that'll change their lives forever & that "[he'll] be watching [them]" just as Stan wakes up which quickly sends the three back into the real world.

S1e19 Pines family shocked that Gideon won

Dipper and his family scared that Gideon has taken over the shack.

However, just as things begin to settle down in the real world with Dipper even giving Stan a choke hold which is something he is impressed with, the wall behind them suddenly explodes as Gideon steps in front of them. He reveals to them that after Bill failed to steal the code to the safe, he went with his plan B which involved him using dynamite to blow apart the safe's door & steals the deed with ease and unscathed. This theft somehow makes Gideon the new owner of the property the shack is on and as soon as he states, calls for a demolition crew to the house to the ground, causing everyone inside to flee just as the sign is torn apart.

Saving the Mystery Shack[]

S1e20 Dipper scared that it was not a dream

Dipper screaming after Gideon took the Shack from them.

Directly after Gideon successfully takes over the mystery shack, Dipper and his family are forced to move into Soos' place with his grandma, where he would continue to have nightmares about those events before being reminded that it actually came true. When news spread of Gideon being the shack's new owner & claims of having big plans for it which he plans to show to the whole town, Dipper feels unsure if he can fix it, but after a comment of Mabel's terrible plan to stop Gideon along with the poor living conditions of Soos' place, Dipper goes along with his Grunkle to find a way to get their home back fast.

S1e20 Goodbye

Dipper and his family being carried away.

Sneaking into Gideon's event under disguises, Dipper and the others learn to their shock that the little conman intends to turn the entire property around the shack into a theme-park that's based on him & even planned on turning Waddles into his business' new mascot as well into a mini-version of himself. Dipper and his family tries to expose Gideon's crime of breaking-in their home & stealing from them, but when Gideon shows the deed to the public, the idiot cops (along with the absurd "finders-keepers" law of the town) do nothing to stop him & to add insult-to-injury, Gideon puts a pin he owns on Stan before kicking them out.

Dipper and his sister prepare to save the Shack themselves.

Soon afterwards, Dipper and the others learn from Wendy that with the shack gone, she's now jobless which leaves her dad to make her leave Gravity Falls and begin working at her cousins logging camp, much to his sadness. His displeasure is made even worse when he learns that with no money left & his con-man confidence shattered over losing his home & business to his rival, a depressed Stan informs everyone that he intends to send Dipper & his sister back to California because of his promise of sending them back home if can't take care of them any longer to their parents, with Stan & everyone no longer confident in getting the shack back, Dipper & Mabel decide to use the journal's knowledge to force Gideon into giving them the shack back.

S1e20 Going to the gnomes home

Dipper & Mabel going to the Gnomes for help.

Little did Dipper & the others know that while they were trying to get the mystery shack back, Gideon had begun building his theme-park while also using it as a cover-up for his real plan to try & find the same journal he & Dipper have, only the journal he's trying to find has the number 1 on it because it was kept by the author himself and Gideon assumes that the journal is hidden somewhere in the shack & intends to use all journals to unlock the "unlimited power" he thinks they possess. Meanwhile, outside the shack's construction-site, the twins look into the journal to find something useful they can use to get the deed to the shack back before the bus coming to take them out of Gravity Falls before sundown, after denying to use any weird creatures Mabel agrees with, Dipper decides to get the help of the gnomes (something which Mabel is nervous in doing considering her previous encounter with them) to use as an army against the tough guards Gideon is hiding behind to intimidate him into giving them the shack's deed.

Dipper and his sister being carried off by Gideon... right after the latter took his journal.

Heading back into the forest & returning to the place where they first encountered gnomes, Dipper & Mabel reunite with Jeff while he is taking a bath (in a bunch of squirrels), which is something that grosses them out, when Dipper asks Jeff for his & his clan's help, he initially denies to do so after Mabel's earlier denial of him, fortunately, Dipper lies about Gideon being a woman & promises Jeff to make Gideon their queen in exchange for their help, which he agrees to. Heading to the Mystery Shack & calling Gideon out, the Pines twins signal the gnomes and they easily take down Gideon's security with ease, unfortunately, Gideon discovers another weakness the gnomes possess: whistles, and completely gains control of the gnome army as he has them tackle the twins. As if things couldn't get more worse, the Journal falls out of Dipper's hands, which Gideon notices, completely overjoyed that the Journal was in Dipper's possession this whole time, Gideon taunts Dipper with the fact that he was only successful was because of the Journal's knowledge & sends them away.

Unfortunately, while the Pines twins assume that they already lost everything to Gideon, they get into an even bigger problem because just as Gideon prepares to use the Journals, he gets a good look at Dipper's Journal when he sees the 3 in front, because he originally thought there were 2 of them. Thinking that Dipper has the last Journal, Gideon rushes outside right next the statue of himself to greet visitors to his theme-park, which is actually a giant robot built by the town's local crazy inventor & upon taking control of it, he pilots down the road to stop Dipper from leaving Gravity Falls.

With Soos as their Bus-driver, the twins & Soos soon go off of the main road & unto the cliff over the town with the Gideon-bot in-tow, unfortunately for them the twins are forced to jump onto the bridge connecting the sides with the Gideon-bot following soon after. Once Gideon questions Dipper where Journal 1 is, Dipper assures him Journal 3 was the only one he is, only for Gideon to grab both of them & throwing him back on top the cliff before heading back to the shack to find the final journal & takeover the world with a captive Mabel as his empress. Despite hearing his sister's cry for help, Dipper is to rattled with Gideon's earlier taunt about him being utterly useless without the journal & seemingly and sadly wanders back into the woods in defeat.

However, just as it seemed Gideon had finally won, the threat of his family in danger springs back Dipper's determination to help his loved ones & he jumps off the cliff directly into Gideon's robot and begins fighting him inside it, despite having a rough match, Dipper is able to get Gideon to punch himself & due to his body controlling the bot, he makes the robot punch itself, breaking apart the robot's neck & sending it's head spinning around & ultimately causing it to fall of the bridge, but just as Dipper & Mabel crash onto the ground, Mabel saves them by sending her grappling-hook onto a ledge & making them land safely (proving Dipper wrong about it being useless), as well as letting Dipper retrieve Journal 3 in the rubble. But when people started gathering around the crash-site, Gideon tries to blame the attack on them which the town still believes in, but just before the twins are arrested, Stan arrives just in-time & reveals to everyone that the reason Gideon is able to guess everyone's future (aside from everyone being to dumb) is because he was actually spying on everyone through hacked-cameras, causing everyone to turn on him & place him behind bars, with Gideon now in the big house & the deed back in his possession, Stan happily declares to everyone on the news that "the Mystery Shack is BACK IN BUSINESS".

After settling down back in their room, Dipper tells Stan that he finally trusts him enough as he shows him the Journal, though Stan merely laughs it of and takes it, though Dipper is initially unsure about his uncle's reaction, Mabel assures him that he doesn't need the Journal for adventuring after his victory over Gideon's robot, making Dipper feel very confident about himself.

Later that very night, Stan once again enters his hidden room behind the vending-machine but this time with the Journal in-tow, after going down a mysterious elevator, he takes out Journal 3 along with 2 (which he took in-secret while claiming his deed) before revealing he has the 1st Journal. Opening all 3 to a specific page to show blueprints to a mysterious machine, Stan uses the codes on it to activate the machine that ultimately allows it to activate, pulling the lever that turns it on, a confident Stan can all but utter "HERE WE GO".

The next day after Gideon's fall, Dipper asks for his uncle to give him the journal back, to which Stan gives back immediately (he made copies of it's every page with Waddle watching him) & claims it was "too boring" for him to finish, just after Mabel plans a karaoke night in celebration, much to their chagrin. Afterwards, Dipper exclaims to Mabel about being to busy on wondering on what Bill said about things changing, but Mabel still encourages him he could still do it.

S2e1 at odds with stan

Dipper annoyed with his uncles denial.

Later that day, what Stan didn't know was that while he turned on the machine under the shack, it created a shockwave that attracted the attention of a nearby government facility, causing 2 agents named Powers & Trigger to travel to the town straight into the Mystery Shack. Upon arrival, Dipper is excited to see this & shows them the journal, making them interested in this and they agree to meet with him tonight in an agreement to work together, but Stan confiscates the card the agents gave him as a way to call them when he's ready to tell them everything he knew, with a little help from Wendy, Dipper is able to get it back, but gets caught by Stan who tells him that he's grounded once the party's over due to him ignoring the obvious danger he could get him & the family into if he bites off more than he could chew.

The Undead Rising

Dipper & the agents watching zombies arising.

Meeting with the agents outside the shack, Dipper is able to show them the journal, but after looking at all the minor & ridiculous stuff, they deem it too ridiculous and prepare to leave but unwilling to let it happen, Dipper tries to use one of the journals incantations to stop them, unbeknownst to him the incantation he said was a raise-the-dead spell & by saying it, accidentally brings to life a horde of zombies who drag the agents to the ground & scare away the party-goers. With no way on how to stop the zombies & Soos getting turned into one, Dipper, Mabel & waddles barricade themselves in the shack before being saved by Stan as they head up inside the attic for cover, it was during this time that Stan admits that he is aware of all the weird things happening in the town & was only lying in hopes of protecting them.

Getting to the roof & though hesitant at first, Dipper & Stan successfully sing "Taking over Midnight" with her and destroys every zombie within the shack's range, afterwards Stan decides to let Dipper keep the journal only as a means of self-defense & both promise (while secretly fibbing) to no longer keep secrets and go looking for danger respectively.

S2e2 all we'll ever be

Dipper depressed that he can't find a way to tell Wendy his crush on him

After sometime discovering all the hidden details in Journal 3 Dipper decides that the time has come to uncover the biggest mystery he hasn't solved yet: who wrote the Journal, but the day before he does so, he feels like it's time to confess his feelings to Wendy 'cause she had just broken up with Robbie, but couldn't bring himself to do so because she's annoyed that Robbie's to obsessed in trying to get her to change her mind, much to his displeasure.

Afterwards they find a lab with a cave on the other side, but while Dipper was still reeling on his failure to tell Wendy his feelings for her, Mabel decides to take matters in her own hands & locks him & Wendy in the cave outside the lab. When wondering what the author did here, they get attacked by a mysterious creature & when they try tell Mabel about it she refuses to believe it (as she thinks it's a joke by Dipper) until Dipper confesses to Wendy his feelings.

Coming along with the man who he thinks is the author, the man says the the creature he locked inside here is an alien called the Shape Shifter who almost escaped the last time, which prompts Dipper to show him the Journal. Unfortunately, Wendy shows Dipper that the author looks exactly like a mascot from a can of beans and is ultimately proven right when the man reveals that he is the Shape Shifter & while he doesn't know what happened to the real author, he gleefully uses all the creatures drawn in the journal as new forms for him to take before giving chase to the two once again.

Little did he know was that Wendy was on the other side & overheard everything he said & the Wendy he found was the Shape Shifter & the 2 Wendy's battle for the Journal, after telling who the real one is, Dipper is able to stab an axe through the shape shifter's chest & shove him into a cryogenic chamber which Soos & Mabel activate, but not before the alien Taunts Dipper that if he continues trying to find the author, he'll meet a gruesome fate and takes the form of him screaming before being completely frozen in place.

S2e2 Dipper and the others discovering the laptop.

Dipper & co. find a laptop in the bunker.

After sealing away the bunker, Dipper talks with Wendy about what he said earlier, but while she says she was completely aware of his feelings for her, she says she can't be with him due to their age differences, but she does comfort her that being just friends with him is good enough for her before riding back home. After Mabel apologizes for her earlier pushiness, Dipper shows disappointment in the fact that they couldn't find the author in the bunker, but when Soos reveals he seemingly brought a suitcase he found there, they discover that it's actually a fixable laptop that they think belongs to the author & may hold the answers they seek.

Dipper & his family meet the northnwests at the court.

On a satisfyingly relaxing day, Dipper & the others head to the local golfing course for some downtime, but things get a lot more intense when Mabel, after getting beaten to the front page news by Pacifica earlier & when she proves to be a much better golfer than she is (with some training from a professional), challenges her to a golfing match at midnight. Though upset that she was outdone by the rich-girl once again, Dipper assures her that if she beats her at this she'll get to rub it in her face everytime they meet, prompting her & Dipper to break into the course so she can practice before midnight.

After some time failing to sink a hole in the windmill hole, Dipper hears some noise coming from the inside of the windmill, and when he & Mabel open the inside, they discover a species of little golf-headed people known as Lilliputtians who control the balls that go through the hole. When Mabel mentions that they're waiting for her rival, they discover that there are different tribes that live in the holes & have a long-time rivalry for years on whether whose better at controlling the balls, and when they see a sticker on Mabel's chest that says "UR THE BEST", they beg her to give whichever one of them the sticker to end their war.

S2e3 sorry paz

The Twins depart with Pacifica on good terms.

With this set in mind, Dipper advises Mabel to let them help her win her match with Pacifica (arguing that Pacifica cheats in life due to being rich) & the one who helps her the most will get the sticker. Though while things go well at first, one of the tribes get into dangerous measures when they kidnap Pacifica & threaten to kill her if Mabel doesn't give them the sticker, something the other tribes do soon after. However, Mabel decides that none of them gets it & decides to put her rivalry with Pacifica aside, and even gets the tribes to work together... against them, prompting them all (except Sergei) to escape the golf course.

Afterwards, after apologizing for their earlier scheme to Pacifica, Dipper, Mabel along with the rest of their family give a slightly-remorseful Pacifica back to her mansion & even slightly begin to bond with the heiress as well as finding a new side of Pacifica they can all be good friends with.

A deal with a Nightmare[]

S2e4 here we go again

Dipper annoyed that her sister has another crush.

After sometime, Soos is able to get the laptop back up-in-running & when Dipper & Mabel head to the library to turn it on & see what information it has inside while also hoping it could have knowledge on who the Journal's author really is. Unfortunately like every other computer in existence, it has a password with an 8-letter word to access. But while Dipper is intent on finding out what it is, Mabel falls in love with a young puppeteer named Gabe, who in a lovestruck state, says that she's another puppeteer whose got another show debuting next week, forcing Dipper to help her prepare it next week, little did he know was that he's being watched by a frightening stalker with another agenda.

S2e4 air quotes

Dipper with Bill as the demon attempts to get him to make a deal with him.

For the rest of the week Dipper along with his friends & family help his sister write a puppet show she called "Glove Story" which is basically her version of meeting Gabe, but while all this is happening Dipper spent all week trying to find out what the password is-- making him ignore his sleep with each failed entry. The night before Mabel's performance, Dipper wonders in there's someone who can give him a clue on what the password is, however when he had slightly fallen asleep, he gets an unexpected visit by none other than Bill Cipher, who offers him a hint on what it is in exchange for a small favor, but while he's obviously paranoid on his antics, Dipper is still offered the chance before waking up screaming.

Returning to the kitchen and warning his sister about Bill's comeback, Mabel tells her that he'll help him with the password only for her to ramp it up when Gabe mentions another girl's he attended the night before, forcing an angry Dipper to try & figure out the password on his own. Heading to the attic & trying to discover the password, he slightly falls asleep where he dreams that the laptop had to many failed entries & prepares for a total data wipe in 5 minutes with only one last try to discover it. At that moment Bill appears once again & offers up his deal last night, when Dipper questions what does he want the sentient nightmare simply requests a "puppet", though Dipper is hesitant to give out one, Bill reminding him of his chance to get infinite knowledge as well as the fact that despite everything he's done for her Mabel has never done anything for him in return causes Dipper to give in & take the demon's deal.

Unfortunately, Dipper's paranoia is proven right when the puppet Bill was asking for is him and the moment they finished shaking hands, he frighteningly rips his soul out of his body & when he realizes what he did he watches in horror as the demon possesses his body and unexpectedly breaks the laptop. When Dipper is confused of his his actions, Bill explains that he's got big plans coming & doesn't want him in the way before heading to destroy the journal all while treating his body like a test-dummy, when Mabel mentions that she's using the journal as a theater prop for her show to both Dipper & Bill the former tries to warn her about the crazy triangle, but without a body he's pretty much a ghost to everyone all while Bill catches a ride to the theater.

S2e4 puppet convo

Dipper (with a puppet of himself) warning Mabel about Bill.

Flying across town wondering where his hijiacked body is, a spectral Dipper remembers that everyone is at the theater and flies into it where he watches Bill get a role in the play as a reverend and discovers that the journal is in a pretend cake as part of the final act but is at the top of the stage. Still unable to get any attention without a vessel, Dipper resorts to using a sock-puppet of himself & is able to warn Mabel about Bill's plan and has her try & get before Bill does, all while covering for Mabel so they play can go on & get Gabe's love.

While Dipper reaches the closing acts of the play, Mabel gets the Journal but just as Bill (dubbed 'Bipper' by Mabel due to him inside her brother's body) threatens to drop the cake, Mabel being reminded of all the thing's Dipper's done for her willingly drops the fake cake & fights the dream demon for both the journal & his twin's body. Though while Bill claims he's got no weakness, Mabel takes the advantages of all the weaknesses Dipper's body's got which ultimately forces him to eject his body which allows Dipper to take control of it, but although Bill warns them that big things are coming, Mabel shuts him up through a bunch of fireworks that destroys all her puppet & the whole stage.

S2e4 puppet bump

The Mystery Twins are back together.

Though Mabel believes that everyone will think it was all part of the show, she accidentally jinxes which makes everyone leave in boos & hisses while Gabe, disappointed that Mabel seemingly sullied his work leaves in anger but not before he awkwardly kisses his own puppets/hands, leaving the twins weirded out completely. Afterwards Dipper apologizes for ruining her play & destroying all her puppets, but Mabel reveals that the sock puppet of herself survived and apologizes for wasting all week obsessing over a crush rather than helping him, reconciling with each other & heading home, but not before Dipper heads to the hospital to tend to all the damage Bill did to his body. Unaware that Bill's rant about big plans are coming he told Dipper earlier are coming up very quickly.

Gravity Falls - Old Man McGucket WROTE THE JOURNAL?!

Dipper thinking that Old Man McGucket is the author.

After sometime recovering from all the injuries thanks to Bill hijacking his body, Dipper is now more unsure than ever on how to discover the author's identity now that the laptop is busted & wasn't even close to learning what it held. But as he was doing so Mabel, who was just sulking over how every one of her summer romances since heading to town ended in disaster, discovers a label on the laptop that says "McGucket labs" and although he is completely confused with this revelation, Dipper confusingly & shockingly deduces that the town's local crazy cook Old Man McGucket might be the man he was searching for.

With Mabel, Soos, and Wendy, Dipper heads to the junkyard to visit McGucket for answers, but he admits that he actually doesn't remember anything prior to being the hillbilly he is now, when Dipper shows him the journal in an attempt to help him recover his memories, he doesn't react to anything until he sees a picture on the journal with a crossed-out eye. Upon seeing it, McGucket completely freaks out which makes Dipper deduce that something or someone associated with the symbol messed with his mind & with McGucket recovering fast, they head to the museum for answers as well as hoping it could also get McGucket his memories back.

Sneaking into the museum, Dipper and the others witness a couple of hooded-figures with a hostage, following them, they run into a section of the museum with a bunch of eyes all pointing to one eye that's edged out of the wall which functions just like a button, upon pressing it, it opens a secret door under the museum. Going down a bunch of stairs & hiding behind a curtain, Dipper & Co. watch a bunch of bathrobe-wearing individuals bring in the town's local diner waitress Lazy Susan, who was freaked out over seeing a bunch of Gnomes try & steal a pie, when she tells them what she saw, Dipper & the others watch in shock as the leader takes out a weird-looking gun & uses it to erase her memory and leave her completely clueless about it as they let her leave & send her memory to an unknown museum room the call "the hall of the forgotten".

S2e7 hall door

Dipper, Soos, and McGucket at the hall of memories.

Deducing that those mind-erasers must've done the same thing to McGucket a long-time ago, Dipper has Mabel & Wendy keep an eye out for the mind-erasers while he Soos & McGucket try and find the hall of the forgotten, following the pipeline that carries the canister of Susan's recently-erased memory across the museum, the 3 eventually manage to find not just the hall of the forgotten, but hundreds of memories. Searching throughout the erased memories all over town & with a conveniently-placed TV, Dipper realizes that the erased memories of everyone in town (Robbie included) are the ones that involve every mysterious thing they've encountered, but when McGucket finds his memories on a self, he accidentally sets of an alarm that gets all of them (but himself) captured.

S2e7 tied up

Dipper and the gang captured by the Society.

After being tied-up to a pillar with the rest of his friends, Dipper is confronted by everyone of the mind-erasers they witnessed which makes them ask who they even are, and considering they are going to erase their memories anyway, they reveal themselves to be typical residence of the town ranging from a weirdo who married a woodpecker (which is still very legal in the town) to a total stranger who goes by Blind Ivan & the cult-like people before them call themselves Society of the Blind Eye. When Dipper asks why are they doing this, Ivan explains that they to are aware of all the weirdness happening in the town but before they arrived, everyone knew about them & were to frightened by what they've seen & couldn't find a way to stop them, that is until the society's founder (who they all forgot) invented the memory gun that allows those hit by it to forget a specific memory & took it upon themselves by helping the scared townsfolk by making them forget about all the strange things they've seen, which ultimately reduced everyone in town into the clueless bunch of buffoons they are today.

When Dipper argues that messing with memories is ruining lives, the society shrug it off (but not before revealing that Mabel was going to use it on herself to forget about her summer romances just to rub it in him) & prepare to ensure they don't reveal the memories to everyone by erasing everything they've seen in Gravity Falls: during their whole summer vacation, which makes them reveal all their secrets to each other before they forget all the good times they had together. But just before that happens, McGucket barges in and rescues them & they arm themselves to fight of the society, in the heat of battle, Dipper races with Ivan for McGucket's memories but ultimately loses it, but just before Ivan blasts them with the memory gun McGucket steps in & because his mind was already messed up, he is completely immuned by it's affects and knocks him out hard.

Gravity Falls - "Society of the Blind Eye" McGucket's Memories

Dipper and everyone learning of McGucket's past.

After taking care of the leader, Dipper & Co. manage to tie up everyone of the Society's members but just to make sure that they can't erase the memories of everyone again, Dipper uses the memory gun on them to make them forget all about the Society as well as make them think they were visiting the museum, but since Ivan spent so much time with the Society Mabel is forced to come up with a new identity for when he can't remember himself. After putting an end to the Society, Dipper convinces a worried-at-first McGucket to see his memories where they discover his real life; His full name is Fiddleford Hadron McGucket and he explains he was helping a visiting researcher who was studying Gravity Falls' weirdness including with making a device where he said would help mankind where it would turn out wrong which made him quit, it was this experience that revealed he was the one who made the memory gun & the founder of the Society but constant use of the memory gun on himself made him the crazy man he is today.

Seeing this made Dipper realize that McGucket is not the Journal's author but he did work for him as well as help everyone decide (McGucket & Mabel chief among them) that it's better to learn from bad experiences rather than forget about them entirely, with his recovering memory McGucket offers to fix the broken laptop Dipper showed him to further his goal. Little did he or anyone know was that Stan has also become determined more than ever with his goal: to finish making sure the machine is stable no matter what.

Celebrating Soos' birthday[]

Dipper & Mabel learning today is Soos' birthday.

On July 13th, Dipper & Mabel discover that toady is actually Soos' birthday and seeing that no one has actually prepared any form of party for him, they along with Grenda and Candy, decide to do it themselves not only as because it's his birthday but as a thank you for all the times he was their to help them out. With their experience in birthday parties & preparing everything he loved, the twins show Soos the party they hoped he would adore, but they soon find out that it makes him anything but happy & tries to find excuses to leave, confused, Dipper & Mabel learn from Wendy & Stan that since his childhood, Soos actually hates his birthday and won't tell any of them the reason why.

The Twins surprised to see Blendin again

Wanting to make sure he enjoys himself on his birthday, Dipper & Mabel decide to take him to a laser tag arena (which was originally a mattress store) to play there, which is starting to cheer him up. But just as they're about to enter the arena, they unknowingly enter a time window and are reunited with Blendin, who explains that after accidentally getting him arrested he spent all his time in prison preparing to get his revenge on them & revealed he challenged them to GLOBNAR: a futuristic gladiatorial game where the winner gets a time-themed wish and gets to decide the fate of the loser, though not wanting to go through with it, Dipper and his sister steal the time tape to get back to their own time.

S2e8 twins realize

The twins sadly learning one of the things you can't get for someone's birthday.

Unfortunately, they pull the string on the tape to far back and are sent all the way back to the year 2002 in the time when the laser tag arena was just a mattress store and the time tape is broken, not wanting to mess-up the timestream and needing to avoid the time-police, the twins secretly sneak into the mystery shack to get the tools needed to fix the tape. While waiting, Mabel shows how to open the vending machine to an 8-year-old Soos, something he would pick up in life, but although Dipper manages to fix the tape, he is convinced by Mabel to follow Soos 'cause it's his 8th birthday today which'll allow them to see why he hates it, spying on Soos and seeing he's actually enjoying it at first, Dipper & Mabel still don't know why Soos would hate his birthday until they sadly see the real reason was something personal to him specifically: learning that his deadbeat dad (who he hasn't seen for his whole life as well as implying the fact that his mom passed away) wasn't coming back to see him.

Knowing that their friend will only be happy if he sees his dad again, Dipper and Mabel ultimately decide to accept Blendin's challenge to not just get back to their original time, but to win the Time wish for Soos so they can give him the birthday he always wanted, returning back to Blendin's time, the twins & Blendin are brought into the colosseum to compete where they're also being watched before the ruler of the world, a sentient giant infant known as Time Baby. After getting ready to fight, Dipper along with Mabel compete against Blendin in all sorts of time-themed games, but thanks to his training in prison Blendin easily gains the upperhand over them, eventually with the twins just one point behind Blendin they eventually prepare for the final challenge: laser tag, but since it really isn't that challenging Dipper normally hits Blendin while he has Mabel grab the victory orb, allowing them to win in a landslide.

The twins & Soos continue celebrating the former's birthday.

Though once they begin to decide what faith of Blendin, Dipper has a private talk with his sister on what to do with him, but while they're completely fine with erasing him from existence, Dipper has an epiphany for him & points out that it really was their fault that Blendin lost his job & wanting to make it up for him, they request that his job is restored & is given hair, something which a fair Time Baby grants & makes a joyful Blendin let go of his grudge on them. After making up with Blendin, the twins go back to their own time to give Soos his wish, but after telling them of all what they went through for him, a happy Soos decides to give up waiting for his dad uses his wish to fix up Dipper & Mabel, and an infinite slice of pizza, and goes on to continue celebrating his birthday.

Ghost mystery in a Manor[]

Gravity_Falls-_Pacifica_asks_for_help

Gravity Falls- Pacifica asks for help

Dipper reluctantly deciding to bust a ghost for the Northwests.

On a particular rainy day after rescuing Blubs & Durland from a giant vampire-bat (which was able to make the front-page news), Dipper prepares himself to binge-watch a whole marathon about a ghostbusters-parody, only for it to be interrupted by a news-report which gets the attention of his sister & her friends, the news-report is talking about how the northwest is hosting an annual party & inviting millionaires all over the world which something the girls dream of going to. Though Dipper tries reminding them what a jerk Pacifica's been to them, he gets an unexpected visit by the young heiress herself who needs his help specifically because a ghost is haunting her home & although Dipper refuses at first, he ultimately does so in exchange for getting his sister & her pals their very own invitations to the party, something she desperately does so.

A New side of the Rich

Dipper finding more about this side of Pacifica.

After heading to northwest manor and dropping by her sister and pals, Dipper is greeted as the "man (technically kid) of the hour" by family patriarch & Pacifica's father Preston, who after being forced to wear a tuxedo is guided by Pacifica to the room where the haunting is. With the journal & Pacifica in-tow, Dipper is able to draw in the ghost but soon begins chasing them throughout the halls, after flipping through a bunch of the Journals pages Dipper learns they can trap the ghost in a silver mirror, but when they head near a room full of them, he sees the fear Pacifica has for her parents for the first time because said room is full of their favorite carpet pattern, though once they head into an abandoned room, Dipper is able to get a silver mirror & trap the ghost inside, causing a delighted Pacifica to hug him in excitement, much to both their embarrassment.

S2e10 dipper storming out

Dipper leaving the manor after finding out the true purpose of the haunting.

After busting the ghost, Dipper is thanked by the Northwests and heads off to excorsist the ghost, with Dipper commenting that Pacifica might not be so bad after all (even implying he's starting to develop a crush on her), however when he said this the specter then reveals to him the story about why he wants revenge: Half-a-century ago when he was alive, he was one of the many lumberjacks asked by Nathaniel Northwest to build the mansion over the promise of a grand party & the whole town would be invited, it took them many years to build many would sadly pass away but the thought of the party kept them going, but when it was finally finished & they all got ready for the party, the Northwests showed they never really wanted to invite any commoners & shut them out, but while his friends sadly walk away, Archibald furiously begged for them to keep their promise, but with the trees gone, he was swept away by a flood & his life was taken by an axe to his head & with his last words swore he'd return from death to have revenge should they not keep their promise. What he didn't expect is that Nathaniel heard every word of it but instead of taking the warning, he wrote everything down & passed it on throughout his family to ensure their reputation is still intact, hearing the whole story made Dipper realized that he was only used as a way for the Northwests to escape ghostly justice, causing him to angrily confront Preston about this, which is something he ruthlessly admits to doing, & when he looks angrily at Pacifica she doesn't have the nerve to tell him due to her parent's influence, causing him to leave in a huff, just not before commenting about how Pacifica's just as bad as his parents.

S2e10 final form

Dipper's "final form" as the Shapeshifter predicted.

After leaving the mansion, despite being still angry with the Northwests duping him, Dipper knows that the ghost is just to dangerous to be roaming around and prepares an exorcist ritual to send him to the afterlife, but when he decides to honor the ghosts "last wish" of seeing the forest one last time, the ghost uses this as his advantage to heat up the mirror's handle which causes him to drop it & set the ghost free, allowing him to wreck havoc in the manor & turn everyone into wood while rhyming (something which he found odd), but when he says that the only way to save themselves is for a Northwest to open the gates to the town, and knowing that Preston or his wife is willing to do it, he goes to find Pacifica to save everyone. Finding her in the same room earlier, Dipper finds a sulking Pacifica looking at all the painted horrible things her Family has done, seeing for the scared girl see really is, a guilt-ridden Dipper apologizes for his earlier outburst & inspires her by telling her that she doesn't have to be like her parents, now once again confident, Dipper & Pacifica head back to the hall to save everyone, but when he tries to trap the ghost again, he knocks away the mirror & turns him into wood, petrifying him in the exact pose the Shapeshifter predicted would happen to him.

Trashing the carpet

Dipper & Pacifica happily trashing a carpet... as well as growing closer.

But just as Dipper thought he along with everyone else would be wood forever (along with the fact that the ghost intends to burn down the whole mansion), Pacifica, fighting back against her parents' objections, brings up all the physical & mental strength in herself to open the gates to the manor, causing not only the whole town to run into the manor in joy, but causes everyone & everything, the twins & their friends included, to return to normal as well as allow the spirit to finally pass on in peace, after watching Preston moan in defeat, Dipper helps raise Pacifica's spirits even more as they happily trash one of her parents carpets, while also implying that she's beginning to reciprocate his feelings for her as well. A little while later, Dipper once again runs into McGucket, who while at first seems to be enjoying the party like everyone else (except Pacifica's parents), he secretly brings Dipper to a corner where he tells him that with his recovering memories, he manages to fix the laptop & that he discovered something frightening in it, but since he wanted to enjoy himself, Dipper calmly tells McGucket they'll discuss it tomorrow.

Little did Dipper know was that by flaking out on what McGucket was gonna tell him, he failed to discover that the laptop had revealed a countdown timer which is set to end in 24 hours which makes the terrified genius to believe something BIG, heavily implying to be Bill's plan, is coming. If that wasn't enough, Powers & Trigger, having spent the past few weeks gathering the information they need to prove Gravity Falls is the place & disguising themselves as guests to the party, decide that they have enough information to show their superiors & call in the cavalry.

Discovering Stan's secret[]

After the party, Dipper & Mabel get ready to sleep, but while everyone else is asleep, Stan is able to successfully sets the machine to a safe state, revealing that the laptop was set to it's timing, & sees that it will fully activate in 18 hours, unaware of the challenge that'll appear in front of his doorstep the following morning.

The following morning, after setting off a bunch of fireworks with their uncle, Dipper & Mabel are in shock to once again reunited with Powers & Triggers who along with a bunch of other agents, arrive to arrest Stan for his supposed theft of numerous cans of radioactive waists and when the twins try & protest against this, the agents have them taken away. But just before he is put in a van with his sister driven by Trigger, Dipper is told by Powers that the reason they're cornering the Shack is because there's an apocalyptic machine under it just as Stan says he's innocent, causing him to be conflicted on who to trust.

On the road heading to an unknown location, the twins try to get Trigger to change his mind & let them free, but since he refused to listen, Mabel is able to get his focus off the road and causing him to crash into Manly Dan's van & allowing them to escape, but not before being reminded that Stan could by a bad guy, causing Dipper to become even more conflicted. Heading back to the shack & passing by all the guards present, Dipper & Mabel sneak into Stan's office to prove his innocence, though they are at first relieved to find videotape that finds him innocent, it quickly fades away when they watch footage of him actually doing it as well as numerous fake ID's, though they believe the latter bit was part of his con-man career, they are shocked to find a newspaper that says "STAN PINES DEAD", this along with the fake ID's leave the horrified twins to believe that Stan...isn't...STAN?!?!?!

Completely horrified with the fact that they've been living with an imposter this whole time, an terrified Dipper & a torn-up Mabel decide to find more answers to see what he's been really hiding and when Mabel finds the code to the underground room behind the vending machine, they set of to look for the answers they seek, although they at first run into some bump in the form of Soos (who Stan ordered to guard the machine), they eventually get him on their side. Going down the basement & into Stan's underground office, the 3 discover the other two journals folded into the machine behind the door & when they read it in neon light, it could destroy the world as they know it, realizing the agents were right Dipper rushes to find a way to shut it down, but when they see that the off button is on the lever needed to activate it, the 3 rush to press it just as Stan arrives to stop them.

Gravity_Falls-_Epic_Final_Scene_-_The_Author_of_the_Journals

Gravity Falls- Epic Final Scene - The Author of the Journals

Dipper and his family officially meet the Author.

Despite trying to explain everything to them, completely furious that his so-called-"Grunkle" has been lying to them this whole time, an enraged Dipper along with Soos attempt to turn him in just as the machine fully-activates & Gravity literally falls across town, while Dipper & Soos pin Stan to the wall to stop them from turning off the machine, a completely grief-stricken Mabel is left right next to the button, but just before she presses it, a desperate Stan completely admits to most of his crimes but shows that he really isn't a bad guy & really loves his family, which is enough to convince Mabel just as the machine blows up. Just as everything settles down, Dipper and the others are shocked to see that the blast was so strong that it also destroyed the machine, but are even more shocked to see a mysterious-hooded figure walk out of the center of the machine, picking up one of the journals, Dipper questions who is that, an equally-bewildered Stan can all but say that it's the very man who wrote the journals: his twin BROTHER.

Learning the Stan twins backstory[]

S2e12 the gang demands answers

with the author back, Dipper & everyone want answers from Stan-ley

In the aftermath of the machine's destruction, Dipper is completely shocked to discover that the author of the journals, who also happens to have 6 fingers (the same number of fingers on the hand symbol of each journal), is related to him, but is met with an even bigger shock when he learns that Stan's real name is Stan-ley & the author is the real Stanford, whose also equally confused. Once Dipper & everyone in the room demands answers from him, with his mission finally over, Stan decides to tell everyone exactly why he did what he did prior, which he starts by talking about his past, which in his words, a lifetime ago:

Born in Glass Shard Beach New Jersey during the 1940's, Stan and his brother grew up with their dad & mom who were running a small pawnshop business, back then he & Ford were the best of friends & everyday they would go out & explore their town's beach, though while Ford would be constantly teased for his 6 fingers Stan would always be by his side & vice-versa & together they'd make the dream of sailing around the world as adventurers, but that all changed when one fateful day, Ford's science project was able to get him the chance of going to his dream school & would thereby leave him behind, but while he wanted to be happy for him he couldn't bear the thought of him going but when he vents his frustrations on Ford's project he accidentally messes it up which ultimately gets his brother turned down & in his grief was to quick to assume he did it on purpose, but while he was only angry of his chances at his dream school being sabotaged their deadbeat dad, who only saw Ford's project as a chance for money (even though it would only be for the research & would be watched by the government), heartlessly kicks Stan out 'til he makes a good fortune & because Ford is to afraid of him, he couldn't say anything to say otherwise. Taking his dad's challenge for him to heart, a now homeless Stan made it his obsessed mission to make loads of money as possible to not only get his family's trust back but to prove to them (and to a slightly larger extent himself) that he isn't a screw-up, he first started this by trying to find buried treasure but once he accepted the fact that it was hard to find he swiftly went to business attempts, but his first cheap product: a shammie he dyed in an attempt to remove stains, only made them worse which angered customers so much that New Jersey pretty much banned him, afterwards Stan continued his con-artist regime where he traveled all across America (sometimes out of it) looking for his chance to prove he was worth something, creating numerous fake identities for himself & getting banned from numerous states each time.

S2e12 dipper fangirls

Dipper excitedly learning how the journals came to be.

On the other hand, Ford eventually failed to get into his dream school & was forced to attend a literal back-up school for those like him, while there Ford (still bitter with Stan's supposed betrayal) decided to shorten his social life where he would spend hours studying for his future plans, after sometime he was able to graduate ahead of his class & able to gain dozens of college money for his work, but after graduating he had absolutely no idea on what to study because he already was skilled in all the other stuff, but when he looked directly at his 6 fingers on one fateful day, it got him thinking on other weird things like him which made him decide to study on all sorts of anomalies, and according to his research Gravity Falls has more strange sightings than anywhere else not just in the United States, but in the whole world. Driving to the town and using his money to build what would become the Mystery Shack, Ford immediately discovered the weirdness he was searching for when he saw a giant hand take his car, knowing he'd have record the things he'd find, Ford began to keep the journals (much to Dipper's excitement) to record, afterwards he began seeing all sorts anomalies in the town which made him feel right at home, but after creating Journal 3 he began wondering where it all came from but after getting information from an unknown source he deduced that he would find his answers in another universe & decides to build a portal to see if he was right, but since he couldn't do it by himself he called his college pal Fiddleford McGucket for help, after sometime they were able build the portal but during their first test Fiddleford got sucked into the portal & while Ford was able to save him he was terrified of what lies on the other side & begged him to destroy it, but because he was to obsessed with the glory that came with it ultimately causes Fiddleford to quit & Ford immediately started going nuts.

Fearful on who to trust now, a crazy Stanford calls in Stanley (who eventually settled down in a hidden motel to avoid the enemies he had made) to come to Gravity Falls to help him, seeing this as his chance to finally reconnect with his brother again, Stan waists no time in heading to Gravity Falls to meet him, upon arrival in the winter season, Stan meets up with Ford who shows him the portal he created, when he says that he's decided to entrust the 1st Journal (having already hid the other 2) to him he mentions their dream which makes Stan hope they might actually do it, only for him to basically say to get away from him as far away as possible to hide it, angry that Ford just basically called him to turn him away again, a frustrated Stan vents all he'd been through but makes the mistake of assuming he mainly moved just to live it up with the money he got (likely from their dad) & deciding to take the more logical way of hiding the Journal by burning it, but not willing to let his research get burned Ford starts fighting his twin for the Journal & in the ensuing struggle Stan gets a burnt mark on his back & the portal get activated, unknown with this but hurt of what his brother did Stan shoves the Journal back to Ford but it causes him to be caught in the portal's gravitational pull & Stan can only watch in confusion as Ford throws the Journal as he gets sucked in. After the portal shuts down, shocked that he accidentally got his brother banished, a grief-ridden Stan tries to pull the lever to get him back which fails miserably & leaves Stan completely guilt-ridden, the next few weeks Stan moved into Ford's now abandoned house & knowing his Journals have a way to bring him back he spent weeks trying to turn the portal back on but without the other journals he has no clue on how to work it, eventually he ran out of food & had to go into town to buy more but when he sees he doesn't have any money to buy anything he is mistaken for his twin brother, at first he tries denying it but when he hears people saying they will literally pay anything just to see what's inside Stan decides to take advantage of people mistaking him for Ford to his advantage, at first he was expecting an angry mob like always but the citizens, having been completely dumbed by the society's erasing efforts, immediately take a liking to it & seeing people pay more money, Stan feels like he finally found a home again & officially starts his tourist trap in Ford's house which names the Mystery Shack (after changing it from the Murder hut), by day he would tour people around the house but by night he would go down into the basement to bring the real Stanford back, but not willing to let anyone else get hurt he lied to everyone, including his family, to ensure their safety.

S2e12 Mabel is worried

After the intense family reunion.

After hearing the full story, a now guilt-ridden Dipper apologizes for his complete distrust in Stan from earlier, but Stan wholeheartedly forgives while also saying the fact that he wouldn't believe himself if he was in his position, but after the whole story is over they discover that the military has found the door to the basement, just when they think they're all about to be arrested, Dipper reveals he still has the memory gun & giving it to Ford, he uses it to create a mind wave to erase all the agents memories (Powers & Triggers included) of the town so he can pretend to be one of them to send them to someone else. Though once night fell, Dipper is left unsure with the fact that he found the author's identity in a dramatic way, & when Mabel is left fearful over the possibility they might get dumb & turn out like the older pines twins, after secretly eavesdropping them & seeing their still angry with each other, he promises her that they will never grow apart like Stan & Ford, though she is still quite fearful of the what the future has in store for them.

Playing a board game brought to life[]

S2e13 nerd oath

Dipper & Ford bonding over Dungeons, Dungeons, and more Dungeons.

After meeting the author & putting the portal thing in the past, Dipper continues his summer vacation with the typical monster of the week coming at them, but now that Ford is living in the basement Dipper is eager to learn everything he knows, but due to Stan's earlier agreement with him he can't talk to him. Fortunately Dipper is able to lift his spirits from this when he buys his favorite role-playing game Dungeons, Dungeons, & more Dungeons and hopes his family might play with him, but the way he explains the rules pretty much bore everyone (except for Soos but can't play with him because he's already in a fantasy game club), fortunately he finds out that Ford actually loves the game & Dipper actually begins bonding over it.

S2e13 faceoff with the game

Dipper & his family meeting Probabilitor.

While playing, Ford still refuses to admit what he's been doing down under the basement, but he does admit that while he's been stuck between dimensions he reveals that he did pick up a bunch of other interdimensional stuff, one of them being an outlawed die with literally infinite sides which will bring any of it's possibilities to life. However, they make the mistake of bringing the game up to the living-room & when Stan, who has an extreme dislike for "nerd" games, throws down a pack of dice with the infinite-sided-die in it, it summons the games mascot Probabilitor the Annoying & other characters from another dimension into their dimension.

S2e13 we brought muffins

Dipper & Ford escaping the game.

Because Dipper & Ford are the currently smartest players he ever met, he has his minions kidnap them as they fly out of the shack & into the more enchanted side of the Gravity Falls forest, after tying them up the nerdy wizard prepares a boiling pot to eat their brains just so he can increase his intelligence, but before he can do that Mabel, Stan, and Grenda arrive to stop that from happening, but not willing to give up so easily, Probabilitor challenges Stan & Mabel to a real life version of the game he comes from with the nerdier twins as their players. Despite struggling earlier Stan & Mabel eventually get the hand of it but when Probabilitor summons the games most powerful monster, Stan secretly sticks a piece of gum on the dice to make it land of the right number needed to defeating, allowing them to win the game, save their respective twins, & send Probabilitor back to his own dimension.

Dipper and Ford

Promising to keep a secret.

After settling down & finishing a series finale he and his family was watching, Dipper once again meets up with Ford which makes him finally reveals what he's been doing under the basement, he finally dismantled the portal but reveals the effects of Stan activating it & why he was angry for him using: the universal rift the machine created from its instability was able to slip through it but it was fortunately small enough to be contained, for now, not wanting to let anyone especially Mabel get hurt, Dipper promises Ford he would not tell anyone about it.

Running Stan's mayoral campaign[]

S2e14 vote for stan

The twins becoming campaign managers.

A little while later, Dipper and his family soon attend a town meeting when Gravity Falls' century-old mayor Eustace Befufftlefumpter finally kicks the bucket & a sudden mayoral campaign is announced to pick his replacement. Although things start out normal Gideon's father & assistant Bud starts his campaign as mayor which prompts Stan to participate to, confused on why he's doing this, Stan explains that once he leaves Gravity Falls when summer's over he won't have nothing to do & being mayor is the right place he needs, considering Stan will pretty much cheat his way to win, as well as suspicious on what Bud's really planning, Dipper & Mabel decide to help Stan win the elections legally.

S2e14 poor soos

Using desperate measures.

Getting ready for Stan's mayoral campaign, Dipper & everyone else soon learn trying to make Stan look like a good candidate is easier said than done when he's forced to bring Stan out of a heated radio argument & his approval ratings soon drop from zero to the negative side, going to Ford for help, Dipper is given a pair of ties that when one wears one of them then they'll control anyone whose wearing the other which is able to get Stan enough votes for election day, but when he finds out about this he furiously tries to win this on his own, resulting in the twins to get Soos to participate in it himself.

S2e14 well we know who the winner is now

Dipper & Mabel as Stan wins the most votes.

On election day, in which the citizens are required to throw bird seeds at the candidate they like the most (because in the end they will release an eagle that'll fly to the candidate with the most seeds & kiss which will anoint him/her mayor), Bud somehow does surprisingly well & when the twins comment on how he's surprisingly acting like Gideon, they quickly discover that Gideon, having been spending all summer behind bars after his arrest, is actually controlling him in an attempt to control the town by other means & leaves them locked away in a monument for the old mayor that is set to blow up once the new mayor is crowned.

S2e14 yeah vandalizm

The twins going to celebrate with Stan after defeating Bud.

Attempting to escape the monument, Dipper & Mabel are soon dangling over the side, but just before they fall to their doom, Stan comes in the last minute to rescue them, apologizing to them for his earlier distrust from earlier with them and vice versa, when Bud tries to blow them up immediately, but they are able to avoid it in the last minute which Bud gets knocked out and at the last minute, with the whole town watching, they all throw seeds at Stan's location & when they release the eagle, he flies at Stan once he lands & officially makes him mayor, much to both Stan & the twins joy. That is until Stan is officially disqualified for every crime he did, which leaves the town's local enthusiast Tyler Cutebiker, the only candidate that filled out all the paperwork, win by default, despite this, Stan is still a hero to the twins & they go have fun to vandalize Tyler's new mansion.

Little did they know, Gideon is still not over with the Pines family yet, but because the mind control spell (the one he used on his father because he believed the twins were using magic on their uncle to win the election) was only a one-time-use, in a very desperate attempt to get revenge on the Pines & get Mabel for his queen, decides to turn to Bill for help by saying he's finally ready to make a deal with him, likely by joining him is grand plans which are coming very sooner than anyone in the town is expecting.

Preparing for Bill's endgame[]

S2e15 - they recognize it

Dipper & Mabel learning that Bill is coming.

On a fateful day when the twins were eager to play a (somewhat cursed) board game, Dipper & Mabel are called into an emergency by Ford where they reveal to him that they not only tangled with Bill, but also learn from him that the dream demon's powers are continuing to grow which could spell danger for the whole family. Luckily they learn that Ford knows a way to make the shack "Bill-proof", but while he has all the necessary ingredients to make a forcefield so Bill can't touch them, he lacks the last ingredient because it comes from the hair of a unicorn, something which a unicorn-obsessed Mabel, along with the rest of the girls, volunteer to go & retrieve.

However, Dipper learns from Ford that the unicorns he encountered before are (as stated by him) too difficult to reason with, so he takes Dipper to the elevator down to the floor where his most private studies reside, something even Stan didn't know when he moved there, when Dipper asks why is he here, Ford tells him if they can't Bill-proof the shack then they'll do the next best thing: Bill-proof their minds. While in his studies, Dipper asks what Bill is exactly, to which Ford replies that while he doesn't much about him, he does tell him that Bill is not only older than our galaxy but also because he's not even from our universe; he really lives in an alternate universe known throughout the multiverse as the Nightmare Realm & has been really projecting himself through a person's mind because he really doesn't have a body himself, hearing this, Dipper is then placed a headpiece on his head strapped to a machine that'll scramble his thoughts so much even Bill can't read them, which is confirmed much safer for him because Ford installed a metal plate in his head to ensure Bill doesn't enter his.

Though after a while, due to the process taking to long, Dipper is wondering on how Ford even knew Bill but his great-uncle still refuses to tell him what it is, but with his own mind desperately telling him to figure it out himself, Dipper takes the headpiece off before the process could be completed & secretly places it on Ford to see his thoughts, while they did look seemingly normal, Dipper is shocked to witness a young Ford make a deal with Bill just as Ford wakes up seemingly possessed by the demon. Despite Ford trying to explain himself, a now-paranoid Dipper grabs the memory gun in an attempt to erase his memories, but because of the metal plate in his head the blast simply bounces back & hits the machine, destroying it.

Once Dipper is given proof that Bill isn't controlling Ford, the despondent author finally decides to come clean about his full history with Bill; When he was young, he had hit a roadblock on his paranormal research on Gravity Falls, until he entered a cave that told writings about Bill where he had answers but despite being warned not to, a desperate Ford read the incantations out loud & first met Bill in his dreams, lying that he was a muse who would choose one genius every generation Bill showed him the blueprints on where all the weirdness came from, but when McGucket saw where the portal lead to, he confronted Bill where he admitted his true intentions, causing Ford to shut down the portal & hide the journals so no onw can finish Bill's work. Afterwards when once again looking at a document with a picture with our universe & the nightmare realm & the mindscape in between, Dipper learns to his shock the very reason why Bill wanted the portal to be activated: To open a way into our universe that'll allow him & numerous other beings from the Nightmare realm to claim their universe as their own, & the rift is Bill's next best way in now that the portal's destroyed.

S2e15 Bill prof shack

Dipper and the Bill-proof barrier.

Feeling guilty about what he did earlier, Dipper & Ford agree with no more secrets, but now that the machine is destroyed they think they have no way of protecting them from Bill, fortunately for them, Mabel & the others return from their quest of getting the unicorn hair, after they learned that the unicorn they met to get it is a total jerk & had to fight her to get her hair. With the last ingredient they need, Dipper & Ford complete the ritual that creates & fully-stable barrier around the shack to protect their minds from Bill just as long as they're inside the shack, unfortunately what Dipper or anyone in the shack didn't know is that they were being watched by the very demon they were fighting against, & upon seeing the barrier, Bill simply resorts to finding his next pawn living outside of the shack, which he starts now.

Dipper & Mabel's 13th birthday.

On the final days of summer vacation, Dipper is more than excited to celebrate his & Mabel's 13th birthday which is coming by the end of the week which everyone else in the shack is eagerly excited for, but his excitement is put on hold when he is called down by Ford for urgent news. Heading to Ford's office, Dipper is shocked to learn that the urgent matter is the exact break Bill's been waiting for: the case containing the rift is slowly beginning to crack & once it fully breaks, it'll allow Bill to cause a universe-wide apocalypse Ford (& the way it was foretold) calls Weirdmageddon.

Though at first hesitant with stopping this due to trying to focus on preparing for his birthday, Mabel assures her she's got the invitation thing well & allows him to help Ford, following him to the hillside above the town, ford reveals to him that the odd-shaped cliffs hanging over the town was created when an alien spaceship crash-landed years ago (he assures him later that the aliens are all "probably" extinct) & that he used parts of the ship to make the portal & decides to do the same with the case containing the rift. While going down the inner sanctums of the ship, Dipper tells Ford his initial plans for his life after graduating High school, which makes Ford give him an offer that could change all that for him: to stay in town & become his apprentice because he's been impressed with how he's finished his journal & because he's got 12 PhD's his parents will be fine with him staying behind, but while Dipper finds it a dream come true, he still has doubts about it because he doesn't want to leave his sister.

While he also doubts himself when he considers all the other times he's messed up in, his luck gets turned around when he finds the substance needed to seal the rift permanently, but in doing so he and Ford accidentally reactivate the security drones inside the ship which detect an intruder's adrenaline, & when Dipper is unable to control his fear Ford saves him from one of the drones only to be captured by another one, racing after the drone across town, Dipper is able to pin it down & let go of his fear by standing up to it. This act of courageousness is all but enough proof for the drone containing Ford to disable itself & release him, with this newfound confidence & hearing Ford's offer again, Dipper gives off a 90% yes to staying in Gravity Falls, unaware it would bring in colossal prices much later.

Returning to the Shack, Dipper is excitedly about to tell Mabel about his future plans but only finds a heartbroken & sobbing Mabel in their room, she had just been hit with a painful reality check that High School isn't what it's cracked up to be & hurt that Candy & Grenda won't be in Gravity Falls to celebrate her birthday with her & just as she gets her hopes that she'll still have her brother by her side the walkie-talkie in his backpack made her hear him accept Ford's approval, but when Dipper tries to remind her that things change, a now-completely heartbroken Mabel takes her backpack & run of into the woods in tears. Upset that he broke his sister's heart, as well as the fact that he did indeed break the promise (not turning out like Stan & Ford) to his sister, the 10% percent of Dipper rejecting Ford's apprenticeship comes to him to bring out his second thoughts to him, but is first convinced to at least finish up the mission then talk to his sister, unfortunately, when he opens up his backpack he discovers that he picked up a picture Mabel drew for their 13th birthday which made him realize that Mabel grabbed his backpack when she ran out, with the cracking rift still inside it.

S2ep17 The Nightmare begins

Dipper & watch in horror as Bill kickstart doomsday.

Things take a turn for the worst when upon hearing Mabel (who also learned that she grabbed to wrong backpack) wish that summer could last forever, Bill takes over Blendin's body & cons Mabel into giving him the rift under the promise of fulfilling her wish, and because she doesn't even know what it is due to Dipper not telling her about it as well as her desire to not face growing up, Mabel willingly gives it, even worse, once Bill has the rift in Blendin's hands he drops it on the ground, reveals himself to Mabel & knocks her out, and can all but laugh triumphantly as his plans have finally come to fruition as the rift blasts right into the sky & opens a tear that leads directly into the Nightmare Realm & bleaches the sky blood red, as Dipper & Ford watch Bill usher in a new age of evil & nightmares with him leading the charge, Dipper can all but watch in horror as Ford says the "it's the end of the world" as Weirdmageddon has all but frighteningly begun.

Surviving the Oddpocalypse[]

S2e18 to the ends of the earth

Dipper bravely ready to take Bill down.

As soon as he enters the universe & crafts a physical body for himself, Bill wastes literally no time in releasing his goons & everything else from his world into Gravity Falls & begins terraforming the town in his own nightmarish image. Realizing Mabel is still out there Dipper rushes to find her, but can't due to the state of what's happening right now, Ford fortunately tells him that they first have to stop Bill but adds they must do it fast before Bill's powers soon envelope the whole world, when he questions if they even can stop him, Ford calmly tells him that being a hero means fighting back despite knowing it's hard, which restores his hopes as they go of to confront the nightmares, after they take cover in the shack as waves of chaos soon begin enveloping the land & cause even more weirdness.

Dipper facing Bill for the 1st time.

Fighting their way through the chaos, Dipper & Ford sneak into the town church as Bill gives his fellow demons new orders, when Ford attempts to blast him back into the Nightmare Realm with a laser gun he specifically made for this moment, the new environment causes him to miss his one shot & the place he did hit Bill healed back with ease, even worse, Bill takes immediately notice of this & blasts apart the tower with them inside. But while they were able to survive Dipper tries to help Ford up but is told by him to take his Journals & escape capture (but not before telling him that there is another way to stop all this) just as Bill grabs him & while he does offer him a place by his side he heartlessly turns him gold just to use as a backscratcher when he denies it, when Dipper tries to stop Bill himself the sentient Nightmare-turned-Reality-Warper is completely unfazed by it & simply goads him to do some "brilliant thing" that takes him down right now & when he finds nothing useful in the journal, he tries to straight-up punch the Demon in his eye, but he simply blasts him back right into a tree & to further weaken him, Bill burns up all the Journals, leaving him completely powerless to stop him & is forced to run away when Bill sick's 2 of his goons on him.

S2e18 time to save mabel

Dipper & Wendy preparing to save Mabel first.

3 terrifying days later after barely evading capture from Bill's watch-men, Dipper once again tries to call Mabel on where she currently is, but is that he could find survivors in the now abandoned Mall but is quick to enter when he now attracted the attention of a giant head with an arm on top, upon entering, he is happily reunited with Wendy (& Toby) who've been staying there since the apocalypse. After telling her the mistake he made with Mabel 3 days earlier, he looks over to the state of the world right now & believes Bill might be right about there's no place for heroes in his world, but despite them not being in love Wendy nevertheless gives him a pep-talk on how despite everything they've faced this summer nonetheless faced them head on, which fuels back is belief in himself to save his sister before saving the world when he finds a giant Bubble with the star symbol on her sweater on it & deduces she's there, however Bill, who had just turned things even worse for reality when he straight up destroyed Time Baby, reveals he's got someone in charge of the patrol of the wastelands around Mabel's territory.

Sneaking into an abandoned auto-mart in hopes of finding a vehicle that will allow them to traverse the wastelands much easier, Dipper & Wendy are soon ambushed by a bunch of prisoners who escaped the apocalypse with Gideon, now working for Bill & sporting a cowboy outfit as their leader, he says that Bill promoted him to master of the wastelands & guardian of Mabel's bubble still under the delusion that she'll "learn" to love her before being ready to take them to Bill. But just before they do, Wendy is able to weave past the guards & hijack a vehicle that allow her & Dipper to escape, with Gideon's gang hot on their tail, the two race across the chaotic wastelands dodging every obstacle in their way & surviving entering a passing row of madness bubbles, & when they encounter a giant cliff, the two go fast just enough to get over the cliff & as an added bonus, happily reunite with Soos.

Dipper, Wendy, & Soos prepare to enter the bubble.

But when they are cornered once again by Gideon & his gang who are now joined up by some of Bill's watch-men, Dipper is able to talk him down into realizing that Mabel will never learn to love him & serving Bill, making him admit that he's really working for Bill out of fear, & convince him to help them fight back against the demon, causing a remorseful Gideon to give up being a bad guy and give them the key to the bubble, with Dipper promising him to tell Mabel about his sacrifice to keep Bill and his goons busy as long as possible. With the key now in their hands Dipper, Wendy, & Soos travel up the cliff & head to the door that leads directly inside Mabel's prison, opening the lock, Dipper says they won't know what's inside but is willing to do so for his sister, which the other two agree so, with that said, the 3 interlock hands and enter the white space of the bubble.

Escape from the Fantasy[]

S2e19 this is worse than the apocalypse

Dipper annoyed that her sister's cage is her own mind.

As soon as they enter the bubble, Dipper briefly gives them a reminder that if Bill's weirdness spreads he's gonna take over the whole universe & they must first get Mabel out of here first but after a few more steps they soon all begin falling down before landing on something squishy. After getting up from the fall, Dipper realizes they're on a bouncy castle & when they go outside, they realize that Mabel's "prison" is basically made up of everything she ever imagined throughout her life, with the main town even being named after herself, much to Dipper's annoyance.

Dipper finding more of her chains

Going on an un-rejectable tour around town, Dipper & the others soon learn that despite being a carefree place the fantasy world has only one rule, but don't learn what it is because the tour guys believe no one will ever break it because of all the fun things around here. After stopping, Soos & Wendy soon slowly start to be tempted by the fantasies, but Dipper keeps them focused by reminding them that since Bill created this world he might've added his own horrifying twists to it, but they are fortunately able to learn where Mabel currently is, however when they attempt to break her out, they soon discover that she created this world and has full-control over it.

Dipper angry with his "cool" clone.

Mabel explains that after running off hearing her brother's intentions to stay in Gravity Falls she woke up here where everything is hers to command & with them here it's finally perfect for her (this is basically Bill's way on making her wish of summer lasting forever come true), but when Dipper apologizes for their fight earlier & says they've come to take her home, he learns that she made an imaginary clone of him whose (after their argument) basically everything Mabel wanted her brother to be: cool, confident & completely supportive to her, & pretty soon Mabel convinces Soos & Wendy to join her by giving them what they love; a chance to do whatever she wants in high school for Wendy & an imaginative dad for Soos (because he's been gone so long Soos doesn't even know what he even looks like), though Dipper's will stands strong against the fantasy. However, after sometime alone, losing hope in his chances of rescuing the real world & getting used to (even though he was annoyed with it at first) the fact that everything he does in Mabeland is absolutely perfect, Dipper slowly begins to grow attached to the prison & thinks it's best to let Bill win, even getting to the point where "Wendy" sides with him & even suggesting that in here they can quite actually be the same age & become the couple like Dipper dreamt they could be, but while he is about to accept it Dipper realizes that "Wendy" is only saying things that he wants to here & rejects her, making him see the nightmare bit Bill added to his sister's "paradise", realizing that the bubble is indeed a prison, Dipper realizes to get back out there fast, but when he says it out-loud he breaks Mabeland's one rule: never mention reality, which causes the inhabitants to prepare to send him out but when Dipper pleads with Mabel to fight back Bill's temptations he is fortunately able to get the chance of letting Mabel come back with him unless he does one thing: win the trial of Fantasy vs Reality.

Dipper giving her sister someone to lean on as they live to their future.

Heading to a courtroom with everyone in Mabeland coming to see, Dipper is determined to win the trial to earn his & his friends freedom back, which soon proves to be a lot easier said than done 'cause how much of an obvious disadvantage he has since the Judge presiding is to distracted with the most simple of things & the "jury" are basically Mabel clones, once the trial begins Mabel's team begins to point out all the awful things about reality Dipper tries to deny it they begin showing memories of all the troubled times in the real world: the first being a botched photo day for Mabel & another targeted at him about receiving zero cards on valentine's day, but when Dipper tries defending by saying it was in the past they counter it by reminding him of the times when he got rejected by Wendy, Bill beating to the ground while he rose to power, & breaking his promise to Mabel, ultimately ending that it's better to deny it while staying in a fantasy. But just as the Judge is about to rule in Mabel's favor, Dipper points out that he hasn't made his statement in the trial & when he is asked if he has a case he calls in Mabel herself, something which the judge is able to allow, once Mabel is up on the stand instead of berating her Dipper completely admits that while he may not be the person he wants her to be & that real life does stink, he points out that the truly better way to get through it is getting help with the people she cares about, something they've done throughout their whole lives including the memories that were shown earlier, he even goes as far as to admit that his decision being Ford's apprentice was his way of avoiding growing up, & after assuring Mabel while he doesn't know what's gonna happen in the future she doesn't have to fear it 'cause they'll do it all together, this along with Dipper 100% confirming that he will be coming home with her is completely enough for Mabel's self-confidence in growing up to be fully restored & decide to fully leave the prison.

Though once the reconciled and reunited twins do a sincere sibling hug, this causes Mabel to lose control over the prison & because of her choice to leave & return to the real world, the residence of the fantasy world (except Mabel's legal team) reveal their nightmare forms & decide to kill them, causing the twins along with a now fearful Soos & Wendy to run away. Climbing aboard a giant-sized Waddles, Dipper & the gang soon discover that their way into the fantasy world was a one-use only & the nightmares are gaining on them, fortunately Mabel is able to grab hold onto a giant needle & literally burst the bubble surrounding them which sends all of them back to the real world (& returns Waddles to normal size), though a once again confident Mabel assures her brother that she's fine with him taking up the apprenticeship, Dipper still assures her that he's fully on her side & with that settled, the twins & their friends then set of to do their most dangerous mystery yet: stop Bill's universal domination tour & save all reality.

Preparing to take back the falls[]

Dipper & the others prepared to fight any intruders.

Immediately after escaping the fantasy prison, Dipper & the others walk through a wasteland of destroyed buildings & Nightmares all throughout town with no other normal soul in sight, seemingly thinking their could actually be no survivors, Dipper & Co. head into the woods where they hope no monster would think to look for them: The Mystery Shack. Upon arriving at the Shack however, Dipper & Co. begin hearing noises coming from the inside & thinking it could be an ambush, they prepare to fight, but are fortunately calmed down when they discover that it's only Stan, along with discovering that every nice normal human & creature they encountered during their stay in the town is also taking refuge here.

S2e20 what% 27s left of normal

Seeing the remains of normalcy.

After being introduced to "what's left of normal" in their base, Stan explains that once he saw the portal to the Nightmare Realm open up he hurried into the shack for protection. However something took him by surprise when he saw that not only the forcefield Dipper & Ford placed around the shack not only made sure anyone inside the Shack not being able to possessed by Bill, but also made it completely indestructible to anything from the Nightmare Realm, making Dipper see why the Shack is the only place safe during this crisis, & why everyone here came to take refuge.

S2e20 even Stan gasps

Dipper & everyone shocked at what Bill's done.

When Dipper tries to warn them that Ford is still taken hostage and that there's still a town that needs saving from chaos, Stan (still angry that Ford refuses to thank & forgive him) calls down his attempts to rescue him by insisting that everyone is safe from Bill here, while also believing that Ford & everyone not in the Shack is somewhere safe. Unfortunately, he is quickly proven colossally wrong when turning on the TV (by accident), learn from a news reporter who snuck into Bill's castle that Bill petrified everyone he captured all just to stack them together into his own personal Throne before the reporter is petrified as well.

Dipper & Mabel rallying everyone up to save the world.

After the broadcast is over, the refugees almost begin to lose hope & begin to believe that Bill's reign is going to last forever, but Mabel reminds everyone that they can still save them if they all fight back, but while everyone is still hesitant to do so, Dipper revealed to everyone that Ford told him of Bill's weakness, this along with a big inspirational speech is enough to arise everyone's hopes & will to fight back. But while Stan (sad that everyone might leave him behind once all is set back to normal) is still hesitant to take the fight to Bill, he completely points out that they're only safe in the shack & that they don't stand a chance against the demons once outside, but makes an accidental addition to their plan by pointing out they just can't "take the shack to Bill".

Taking this suggestion to heart, McGucket gets Dipper and the others around with the comment he got from Stan, and after a while of making a detailed blueprint of his newest invention, they are able to craft the very first invention they'll gonna make that won't be used for evil, & while Stan doubts this everyone else pitches in to build it. With the blueprints fully drawn, the twins & the refugees begin scavenging materials from the junkyard as well as other close to the shack before quickly (and secretly so Bill's watchmen won't snitch on them) beginning constructions on their ultimate weapon against the Nightmares as well as their safest way to their enemies floating fortress: a giant robot made from the shack itself.

The final battle against Bill[]

S2e20 not so noodle arms now

Dipper switching the robot on.

By daybreak, once the construction of the robot is complete, everyone gets in their assigned stations to pilot the bot with Dipper in command of the main mode of movement & turning it on, once they do so, they all begin piloting the bot directly towards Bill's fortress. By the time they get there, Bill had just turned Ford back to normal & had begun ruthlessly torturing him: he discovered that due to Gravity Falls' strong magnetism to anything weird it had made a barrier surrounding the borders of the town so strong even with his new cosmic power he can't break it, & when Ford admits he found an equation that can break the barrier he began torturing to get him to shack his hand & willingly lets him in.

S2e20 Dipper at the wheel

Dipper and everyone ready for battle.

Once they get to the front door, they completely smash it apart (which had just been repaired by Bill after it was previously wrecked by the Time police & Time baby) which is enough to get his & his minion's attention, but seeing their attempts to fight back nothing but adorable, he has his goons to destroy them. Once they are out, Dipper & Co. unleash an all-out offense on the Nightmares, despite their severe disadvantage they are fortunately able to beat them all, which causes Bill to instead to instead torture the twins to break Ford to make him surrender the equation before freezing him in gold once again & heading out to destroy the rebellion himself.

S2e20 lit up Zodiac aerial view

The twins & everyone in awe as the zodiac does it's magic.

Fortunately as the Stan twins pointed out, the ritual was able to make the Shack completely invincible to anything Bill can throw at them, & once he gets himself in a close enough position, they get him even more distracted by ripping his eye out, leaving him blind enough for the twins & the rescue team to blast off out of the robot & parachute safely right into Bill's castle, after gazing directly at his throne they find Ford in his golden state but no one is able to figure out how to turn anyone back. Thankfully, Dipper & Co. learn from a captured Gideon that Bill left them partially petrified & once Dipper pulls one of them out the whole thing fell apart & everyone is reunited, after reuniting with Ford, Dipper then asks if he really does know Bill's weakness, to which he does & begins spray-painting the floor with a picture of Bill & a picture of a weird Zodiac, though everyone found crazy at first, Ford explains to everyone that when he found the drawings about Bill in the cave, he also uncovered a previous tale about how the ancient residence of the land around the town managed to stop him once & for all by using 10 specific symbols in the form of a Zodiac which summon a force strong enough to destroy him & reverse everything he did, & all the symbols have the following:

  • The pine tree is Dipper, due to his cap.
  • The comet is Mabel, due to her comet sweater.
  • The question mark is Soos, due to his t-shirt.
  • The ice pack is Wendy, because she is brave and cold-blooded to the villains.
  • The six fingers is obviously Ford.
  • The heart broken is Robbie, due to his black jacket.
  • The glasses is McGucket.
  • The lama is Pacifica, due to the sweater she is wearing.
  • The telepathic star mark is Gideon.
  • The fish is Stan.

With all that set & done, Dipper & the other bearers all enter the Zodiac and join hands while everyone else evacuates the castle, but once everyone sees that Stan bears the last symbol, they urge him to join hands with them despite both his doubts & his grudge on Ford, though while Stan does comply, he only does if Ford finally thanks him for spending 3 whole decades trying to bring him back which he hasn't done yet, which is something his twin (slightly-sarcastically) does. Unfortunately, just before they draw in the power & blast it directly at Bill, the Stan twins goof it up in the last minute when Ford noncoherently corrects Stan with his grammar, causing them to fight & break the link as well as cause Dipper & Mabel to try & stop them, but then things take a turn for the worse when Bill, having just destroyed the robot due to attacking the legs, arrives on the scene.

Dipper and Mabel dealing with Bill.

Once again overjoyed, Bill boldly tells him that the power won't work if they all don't hold hands, & because everyone who poses a threat to him is now in all in one place, The Demon lord destroys the circle, ensnares the Stan's twins & morphs everyone except the Pines family into his own tapestries for castle before capturing the younger Pines twins & gives Ford his deadliest ultimatum yet: tell him the equation that'll allow him to take Weirdmageddon universal & he'll spare them, but unwilling to let that happen, the twins are able to get his attention & temporarily blind him with paint & escape their cell as they tell Stan & Ford to escape while they take care of Bill. After goading Bill into attacking them, the-now furious Nightmare King traps the older pair of twins in another prison while he goes full-demon mode & gives chase to the twins all throughout his castle, after spending a longtime of out-maneuvering Bill and eventually losing sight of him, Dipper soon realizes that the castle is pretty much one-big-maze but fortunately Mabel is able to break open their dead-end where they hope to re-rally up everyone against the nightmares, unfortunately they discover that the monsters have all of their allies surrounded which gives Bill enough time to capture them & take them back to his throne room, once Bill prepares to destroy one of the twins (though it's been implied that he was gonna destroy both of them), a very-reluctant "Ford" finally gives in & despite the twins & "Stan's" objections, Bill ultimately accepts the deal & enters Ford's mind.

Dipper and everyone watching everything go back to normal.

However, just as it looked like Bill's finest hour but their darkest hour, Dipper and Mabel soon discover that Bill had actually entered Stan's mind because he & Ford had switched clothes while he was out of sight: the thought of him actually dooming the universe was just the right reason for both him & Ford to finally apologize to each other & put their grudge behind them for good, but although Ford was completely willing to surrender to Bill, he has completely lost all hope in stopping him, Stan once again mentioning something in this crisis makes Ford reveal that Bill has a 3rd (& final one they have as a result) weakness & that's although he can haunt dreams & do anything there to in the mind he's just like any other thought that can simply be erased with the memory gun that they brought along, but because of Ford's metal plate in his head the gun's completely useless on him, which causes Stan to willingly volunteer to do so. Once Bill realizes to late he's been conned, Ford very reluctantly proceeds to erase Stan's whole mind & with Bill trapped inside, Stan watches the once powerful dream Demon glitch out of existence & when he tries to attack him, Stan boldly punches Bill directly in his eye which completely shatters him from existence just as the mind erasing is finished, ending the insane monster's reign of chaos once and for all, and with Bill Cipher finally destroyed everything from the Nightmare realm is forcefully pulled back into their dimension just as the X-shaped rift fully closes & releases a shockwave that sweeps across the entire town and returns everything back to kinda normal, putting an end to the Oddpocalypse for good.

Once they take in some much-needed real sunlight, Dipper & his sister finally discover a still-unconscious Stan sitting on his knees but when Mabel runs up to hug him & congratulate him for stopping Bill, they sadly discover that Stan really has forgotten everything thanks to the memory gun, much to their utter sadness. Taking their amnesiac great-uncle back to the Mystery Shack in hopes of it will jog his memories back, they see that it does nothing, but once Mabel shows him an album of the summer memories they made, it is enough for Stan's memories to flow back & after a while, remember everything & let the Pines family spend the last summer days happily together.

The Twins celebrating their birthday & Soos' promotion.

With Bill's reign over reality gone for good, the town once again returns things to normal, but now seeing that there are a ton of things that are weird in their town they soon learn to adapt to them & the mayor decides to create a law that has everyone agree to just ignore what pain they went through during that week & move on, & now that they are seen as heroes, Dipper & Mabel happily celebrate their 13th birthday with all their friends attending after all. When asked what did they wish for, Dipper admits to saying when he first came here he wished for adventure, mystery and friends, but after everything he went through he already got it while Mabel wishes for everyone to sign her scrapbook so she'll never forget them before finally destroying the memory gun to prove her point as they both blow out their candles & officially become "technically-teenagers", later after opening their presents, Stan happily announces that now that their grudge between them is finally over, he is offered by Ford to go sail the world with him to discover new anomalies, finally achieving their childhood dream, but thinking Gravity Falls had enough mystery for one generation, he decides to close down the Mystery Shack for good.

But rather than applause like he & his brother had hoped, the twins & the crowd led by a devastated Soos who overheard them earlier explain to them that despite everything in there being fake the thought of happiness, as well as the Shack being their number 1 tourist attraction, in it is real enough for them to keep it afloat, seeing that the Shack made a bigger impact on the town than he thought, Stan decides to make Soos the new manager of the Shack & he (& his grandma) make it their new home. Following the party, Dipper and Ford soon found the recovered Journals once Weirdmageddon is over & everything returned to normal, knowing the Journals did more harm than good, Ford decided to burn them, but Dipper & his family instead decided to throw them in the aptly named bottomless pit, but when night fell, they all decided to burn all of Ford's stuff relating to Bill as part of their last campfire night together as a family.

Eventually, the inevitable last day of summer & time in Gravity Falls finally came & after packing up everything in their room, Dipper & Mabel head to the bus stop to say their final goodbyes to the people they were closest to in the town, after backing up Mabel while saying goodbye to her friends, Dipper gets some alone time with Wendy with her saying she platonically means a lot to her & as a slightly-romantic but-mostly friendly gesture, Dipper & Wendy exchange hats to remember each other while also being given a letter for him to read whenever he misses Gravity Falls. Though once the last bus leaving to California arrives, he sadly encourages her sister to tell Waddles that her parents won't let her keep a pig as a pet in their home much to both her & Waddles' sadness, fortunately Stan decides to force their parents to live with Waddles for the whole school year & he along with Ford scare the Bus Driver into letting the satisfied pig come along with them, afterwards Dipper & Mabel say their final goodbye to Stan before heading into the unknown, after boarding the bus the twins wave goodbye to all their friends in the town, Dipper stays awake for most of the trip while she lets his sister & Waddles sleep on him, though once he begins missing the town, he opens the letter that's also signed by all their friends & family in Gravity Falls with a message that says "SEE YOU NEXT SUMMER", which gives his hopes for the future even higher as he & his sister finally arrive back home, ready to face everything in the future with his loved ones as something somewhere in the woods, waiting to be discovered by him.
