Direwolves or also known by the names of their evolutions, Tempest Star Wolf, Star Wolf, Tempest Wolf and Divie Wolves are supporting characters in the fantasy adventurer anime, manga and light novel series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Direwolves are the final evolution of the original species, Direwolves.
Direwolves[]
Appearance[]
In their initial and first evolutions known as Direwolf they appeared to be dark blue normal-look wolves with bandages on each of their front legs and yellowish glowing eyes. Ranga was the only Direwolf that was shown to have a star-shaped on his forehead and had a white mane and snout. In the manga however the Direwolves were shown to be brown.
Background[]
Direwolves initially appeared to be causing a problem to merchants that were wandering between the Jura Forest and Eastern Empire. The Empire however tends to only act if the wolves trespass their fields within the kingdom. After many times of failing on attemping to steal ressources, they started to avoid the fields and begin to target merchants that wanders through the forests. However the wolves appeared to not need food in order ot survive as their ressource are instead magicules of world. Which they have to hunt for stronger monsters or humans. The wolves were fearless against any monsters, until Veldora's powerful magicalal powers were able to stop them from entering the territory. The wolves would later on be commanded by Rimuru at the start of the series, after he was able to kill the Dire Wolf Boss the father of Ranga with him becoming the new leader. As the series, Ranga will evolve alongside the rest of the pack and began to serve Rimuru.

Direwolves were shown to be very fast and agile. They hunt in groups alongside with a leader that gives them orders.
Tempest Wolves[]
Appearances[]
Along with the rest of his pack, Ranga was transformed into their second evolutions known as Tempest Wolves after he given a new name by Rimuru. Upon his evolution, the wolf’s body grew by 5m along with receiving a unicorn-like horn on their foreheads. Ranga was the only his clan that was shown to have the ability to be able to shrink and revert back to his initial form and even to the size to that of a regular dog.
Abilities[]
In this form they appear to show no exhaustion and have been stated to run for over approximately 3 hours straight at a speed of 80 km/h without resting. They also hunt in pack and have all been stated to have the same strength and speeds. Furthermore if one of them gets stronger, the rest of the pack will gets stronger as well. They also have now the create cyclones when moving at a extremely fast speed.
- Keen Smell: Their smelling ranges are greatly increased.
- Coercion: When ordered, the wolves are able to do anything in their binding.
- Thought Communication: They gain the ability to communicate with each other through.
Star Wolves[]
Later on Ranga was shown to evolve into a Star Wolf while he remained inside Rimuru’s shadow because of Rimuru’s magicules. It is however unknown if other wolves evolved. Further in the series, he was then evolved into a Tempest Star Wolf resulting in his body growing stronger with his claws and fangs sharpened as well as having a second additional golden horn that grew on top of his forehead. When using his skill Shuttle Fly, dark energies will displays in an electrical form with his fur usually dark blue is clothed with gold-coloured lightning. His second horn will also release pure energy when using the skill. In their final evolutions as Divine Wolves, they appears to have dark marks on their eyes. Their snout’s fur are now white as well as underneath.

Shadow Motion/Umbrakinesis: They gain another additional ability that allows them to easily teleport to a very long distance with the uses of shadow
Tempest Star Wolves[]
Appearances[]
The wolves now possesses a much larger body being over 16 ft tall and have also two horns.
Abilities[]
Their claws are sharpened, are now hardened as steel and are as powerful as steel daggers.
- Black Lightning/Electrokinesis: With this new ability, they are able to send deadly blast of dark electricity.
Divine Wolves[]
Divine Wolves are the final evolutions of Direwolves, as the entire clan will evolve into one after one of them evolves into a Divie Wolf.
Abilities[]
Upon the awakening they achieve divinity, which is the abilities to convert your body into physical or spiritual form at will. However if their heart core is damaged then the process cannot be done but can eventually regenerate boundlessly. Divine Wolves also gains immortality in their final form.
