Doña Nieves (in original: Doña Nieves Frías viúda de Limón Aguado) (in Portuguese: Dona Neves) is a major character of the TV series, El Chavo del Ocho, She was played by actress Maria Antonieta de Las Nieves, who also played Chilindrina.

Features

Physically, Doña Nieves is an elderly caricature of her great-granddaughter Chilindrina. Nieves has a childish mind that doesn't match her age.

Biography

Doña Nieves is Don Ramón's grandmother and Chiquinha's great-grandmother. Nieves probably lived in the village before 1979, since, according to her, when Chavo arrived in the village when he was still a child, Neves gave him a ham sandwich.

In a flashback to El desalojo de Don Ramón - parte 1 (1977), it was shown that Neves helped Don Ramón take care of the still baby Chilindrina, shortly after the death of Don Ramón's wife. Whenever he was beaten up by Doña Florinda and he was asked by Chavo if his grandmother had any absurd characteristics, Ramón would mention some fact in Nieves' life.

According to her letter in El regreso de la biscabuela, before returning to live in Vila, Doña Nieves lived in "Toluca, State of Mexico". With Don Ramón's departure, Nieves returned to the village to take care of his great-granddaughter.

Soon, he created a "infatuation" with the postman Jaimito. Like the rest of his family, Nieves has a huge dislike for Doña Florinda, to whom he does not spare criticism and irony. Nieves sees herself as a protector of the weak, holding protests for better working conditions. Still with family characteristics, Neves is an undefeated debtor, owing the same 14 months of rent that her grandson owed Señor Barriga and, of course, no plans to pay.

Doña Nieves also has a little bird called Soriano. Doña Nieves shows signs of becoming senile, as she bathed in the sink. Also, his eyesight isn't the best, as he mistook a piece of soap for cheese.
