Doc Alice is a possible secondary protagonist in the 2018 comedic RPG game, West of Loathing. She is an old alcoholic doctor with hatred towards skeletons and necromancers.
Biography[]
Past[]
It is stated in several lines of dialogue that Doc Alice had a husband named Elliot. The two seemed to have a happy relationship judging by the fact that the 2 went on a honeymoon in Dirtwater. After a period of time, Elliot died for unknown causes despite Alice’s attempt at saving him. Sometime later, he was reanimated as a skeleton, leading to Doc Alice’s hatred towards skeletons and reanimation in general. This may have been one of the reasons she stopped seeing her patients and succumb to alcoholism.
West of Loathing[]
During the prologue at Boring Springs, the protagonist can convince Doc Alice into letting them in by offering her a bottle of “Nurse” brand whisky. Once inside, you can explore the house to use its contents as well as convincing Doc Alice to join you. There she’ll explain her backstory as well as notifying you about the existence of The Necromancer which she intends to kill. Once you do, you may take her as a partner.
Assuming the player does find The Necromancer in their playthrough, Doc Alice will be the one to kill him before displaying fondness towards the protagonist. However, if the player decides to absorb The Necromancer, it will result in Doc Alice acting hostile towards the protagonist, going as far as pointing her scattergun at them. She will offer them a chance to back away and if the player ignores her, then she will leave.
Based on the endings, Doc Alice wound up opening a successful clinic in Frisco. This was mainly due to miners from a nearby mine suffering from mercury poisoning.

- Scattergun : Allows Doc Alice to deal a fixed amount of damage towards all her enemies
- Patch Up : Doc Alice can heal a target of her choosing
- Bonesaw : Allows Doc Alice to instantly kill any skeleton
