Stephen Strange, better known as Doctor Strange is a character in the Marvel Animated Universe.

In he was voiced by the late John Vernon.

Biography[]

Doctor Strange was a surgeon who lost the use of his hands in a car crash. He then sought the use of the Ancient One, who taught him magic. When arriving in Tibet, he found he would have to take some time to learn the magic needed to fix his hands. Furious over this revelation, he decided to leave. However, upon discovering the Ancient One's pupil Mordo was attempting to kill his master, Strange tried to warn the Ancient One before Mordo cast a spell covering his mouth. As the Ancient One knew of Mordo's plan however, he stopped Mordo, who fled from the mountain.

When Mordo's brainwashed disciples attempt to steal the Wand of Watoomb, Spider-Man attempts to stop them but finds he is outmatched. Strange defeats the disciples and warns Spider-Man of them to no avail. Spider-Man then goes into Mordo's Center for Reunification, only to be brainwashed himself. He freed Spider-Man from the spell put on him by Mordo and then decided to help Spider-Man save Mary Jane. He levitates himself, Spider-Man and Wong over to Mordo's Center for Reunification.

Upon arriving at the Center for Reunification, Strange fights Mordo and defeats him while Spider-Man and Wong defeat Mordo's disciples. Strange defeats Mordo only for Dormammu to possess Mordo and fight Strange, however, their fight ends in a draw. After Spider-Man steals the Wand of Watoomb, he goes into the Dark Dimension himself followed by Strange. They evade Dormammu and go back into the their world. When Mary Jane is forced into the Dark Dimension, she rejects Dormammu disguised as her father. Strange actually knew Mary Jane would reject Dormammu and prvented Spider-Man from going after her. When Dormammu was defeated, Strange felt Madame Webb watch over himself and Wong.
