The Dog Jail Inmates are supporting characters in Dav Pilkey's 2018 novel, Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild, the sixth novel in the Dog Man novel series, a spin-off to the Captain Underpants franchise.
Members[]
The members of the group consist of seven unnamed dogs. All of them have the same jail attire, a black and white striped hat and shirt.
History[]
The Dog Jail inmates only appear in Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild. The Warden introduces Dog Man to them, causing them to growl at the latter, saddening Dog Man as the Warden tells Dog Man that he's too much of a man, and is a misfit.
Later, the next day, the Dog Jail inmates and Dog Man are forced to carry the Warden and his collection of dog feces up a mountain so that he can sell it as fertilizer. Chief and 80-HD come to rescue him by chopping the link to the Warden off, and as Chief tries to rescue Dog Man, he tells him to leave the inmates because they growled at him. Dog Man refuses to leave them, so 80-HD carries them into their mouth while spitting out their clothes and chain links.
Later, the dogs save Dippy from the theater fire and are pardoned, and eventually find new homes after being adopted.
Trivia[]
- The inmates are likely based off of a famous painting of four dogs playing poker when first introduced, seeing as though they originally appear playing poker.
