Domina Profundis is a supporting character in Netflix's The Dragon Prince franchise.
She was the Archdragon of the Ocean and is the closest friend of Zubeia, the Dragon Queen. Together, they maintained peace in Xadia side-by-side up until greedy human and elf hunters killed another close friend of Domina, a leviathan known as the Empress of the Deep. Her death, caused Domina Profundis to go into a life of isolation, refusing to emerge from the sea until it is required of her. This went on until 300 years later where she decides to help Team Zym in stopping the Fallen Star Aaravos from disrupting the Cosmic Order and bringing about Eternal Night. Domina gave up her own life to protect her allies when Aaravos's mortal body was destroyed by Avizandum.

Background[]
Domina was known for protecting all of Xadia, from the seas to the sky, and was best friends with Zubeia. During that time, Luna Tenebris, the queen of the dragons, was killed, leading to the other archdragons, including Domina, fighting to rule their kind. This was stopped by the Sunfire Elves' queen Aditi, who, in an attempt to prevent the violence that the fighting between the archdragons was leading up to, offered to decide who would be the new ruler of the dragons, which said archdragons agreed to.
However, Aditi was mysteriously killed, leading to elves begining to blame the death of their Sunfire Queen on the dragons. Before a war between the two species could happen, though, a human, who was given the name of the Orphan Queen, found out that the one responsible for all these events was a Startouch Elf named Aaravos, who was trying to bring conflict through manipulating human leaders, particularly mages.
Finding out about this, Avizandum created a plan to imprison Aaravos, which worked and the Startouch Elf was imprisoned in a pearl that was hidden in the Sea of the Castout. During this, however, Domina found out about how the Tidebound Archmage Akiyu knew about the location of Aaravos' prison, keeping it as being the clue she had on where Aaravos' prison was located.
Years later, her friend and ally, a leviathan named the Empress of the Deep, was murdered by humans and elves who were filled with greed as they believed the empress was hiding treasures. Failing to save her friend, Domina lost herself in rage, grief and guilt, and after drowning the ships with the people who killed the Empress of the Deep, Domina decided to only protect the seas, and refused to hear Zubeia's protests for her not to.
Centuries past, and during her time protecting the ocean, Domina found out about the Tidebound pirate Finnegrin and his killing of sea leviathans and krakens with the help of his crab ship Shelley, with Domina opposing him for his actions. Finnegrin, wanting to defeat Domina and rule the ocean, challanged her domain, leading to a fight that ended with Domina killing Shelley and threatening to do the same to Finnegrin if he ever left the shores of his town of Scumport.Finnegrin was filled with anger over his ship's death, and vowed to get revenge on Domina one day.
The Dragon Prince[]
After Claudia, Terry and Viren were able to get a map to Aaravos' prison, Team Zym and their allies decided that they needed to find the prison's location and get there before Claudia did, with Zubeia deciding that their best way of doing so being to find Domina and ask for her knowledge of the prison's location.
After getting the Siren Stone, an object that would allow them to call Domina, they go meet her, and while she was originally cold and refused to listen to what Ezran had to say, Zubeia convinced her to listen to the human king, and when asked if she knew about the prison, Domina told them she didn't but knew of someone who did, that being archmage Akiyu.
The group was able to find the prison, but ended up failing to protect it, with Claudia freeing Aaravos from his imprisonment. Domina found out about the Startouch Elf's release by Rayla, and went to Lux Aurea to stop Aaravos' plan of causing eternal night. Domina helped Zubeia in fighting against Aaravos and a brainwashed Avizandum, with Zubeia managing to get Avizandum back to his senses, with the three fighting against Aaravos.
Zubeia and Avizandum would bring Aaravos to the air where they could finish him off, and knowing that destroying Aaravos' physical form would cause an explosion that would destroy everything and everyone there, Domina protected Team Zym and their allies, and when the explosion happened, she died giving her life for them.
The deaths of the archdragons were honored by everyone, with Ezran being thankful of their sacrifices to not only prevent Aaravos and allowing them to prepare themselves for his return in 7 years, but also for making them keep their morality and not lose who they were to stop Aaravos.
Personality[]
Domina was a dragon who protected all of Xadia, but after the loss of her friend, she fell in grief and anger, and after killing her friend's murderers, she left to protect only the seas and distanced herself from her other friends, such as Zubeia, who tried to convince Domina not to leave. She's ruthless towards her enemies, and is not afraid to kill or threaten to in order to end their threats.
In the present, Domina starts off with the same temper, hitting Ezran, Soren and Corvus with a wave when the former tried to talk to her. Despite this, she still desires to protect the world, as she told Ezran about Akiyu knowing the location of Aaravos' prison to stop him from being freed, and fought to stop the Startouch Elf from bringing eternal night. Domina in the end was shown to be a selfless being, giving her life to protect others from an explosion.
