Domovoi Butler, more commonly known as Butler is on of the two deuteragonists of the Artemis Fowl series, alongside Holly Short. He is a bodyguard/butler who serves the main protagonist Artemis Fowl.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Butler was born into the elite Butler family, where he was trained from birth to be a bodyguard for the Fowl family. He was the youngest person to pass Madam Ko's bodyguard academy. When he was about twenty years old, his younger sister, Juliet, was born. When Artemis was born, Butler was assigned to protect him.
Artemis Fowl[]
Artemis and Butler went to Vietnam to get a copy of the Fairy Book. From this, Artemis managed to track a fairy, Holly Short, whom Butler captured. Fowl Manor was put under siege, and Butler fought off the LEP Retrieval team. Butler caught Mulch Diggums who managed to escape, nearly killing Butler. When a troll was sent in and tried to kill Juliet, Butler fought it and was nearly killed. Holly accidentally healed him and then Butler successfully defeated the troll. Artemis then put Butler and Juliet to sleep to escape the time field.
The Arctic Incident[]
Artemis and Butler received a message from the Russian Mafia, who captured Artemis Sr. Holly captured Artemis and Butler on suspicion of selling contraband to goblins. The fairies and humans made a deal to help each other. Butler tracked down the human selling contraband to the fairies. The group then went to Russia to find Artemis Sr. but they were attacked by goblins. They found out Haven was under attack. The group tracked down Mulch and they broke into Koboi labs. Butler helped them assault the fortress while Artemis confronted Koboi and Cudgeon, revealing that the latter planned to betray the former. An infuriated Koboi killed Cudgeon, and was then arrested. Butler then sprayed Artemis' entire body with rad gel due to him crawling through a radioactive plasma duct. The group then travelled to Antarctica to pay off the Russian Mafiya in exchange for Artemis' father. Knowing the Mafiya will not let them leave alive, Artemis has Butler non-lethally shoot his father. The Mafiya is perplexed and doesn't know how to respond, and Holly rescues Fowl Sr. and heals him.
The Eternity Code[]
Artemis and Butler met up with Jon Spiro and his bodyguard Arno Blunt to make a shady business deal for Artemis' invention, the C-cube, made from fairy technology. Spiro betrays them and steals the C-cube, his team of hitmen revealed to have taken over the restaurant. Butler dispatched them with a sound grenade, but Blunt managed to fatally shoot Butler. Artemis put Bulter in a cryogenic freezer to prevent him from dying, and contacted the LEP. Holly shows up and agrees to heal him. The healing weakened Butler, and grafted part of his bulletproof vest to his chest. A mob hitman hired by Spiro showed up to capture Artemis, as the C-cube was protected by an indecipherable eternity code. The hitman is assisted by whom is secretly Mulch Diggums. Juliet managed to defeat the hitman, who is later mind-wiped, and Mulch agrees to help them retrieve the C-cube, as do the LEP in exchange for Artemis, Butler and Juliet to be mindwiped of their knowledge of the fairies. The team breaks into Spiro's home to retrieve the C-cube, but are caught. However, Artemis tricks Spiro into breaking into his rival company's headquarters to steal their newest project. Holly gets Artemis and the C-cube out of there using camouflage foil, Artemis using the C-cube to steal everything in Spiro's bank account as Spiro and his henchmen are arrested. Holly then helped Butler sneak into Blunt's holding cell using camouflage foil and pretended to be a ghost to trick Blunt into confessing to his crimes. After this, Artemis, Butler, and Juliet were mindwiped, though Artemis established a plan for Mulch to return their memories.
The Opal Deception[]
Artemis and Butler broke into a bank to steal a priceless painting. Opal Koboi attacked them. Holly rescued Artemis and left Butler. Butler returned to Fowl Manor where he met Mulch, who restored his memory. The duo rescued Artemis and Holly from a death trap Koboi had sadistically put them in. The group then evades Koboi via ship, as Mulch hides a couple of bombs Koboi was planning to use to expose the fairy world to humanity in a hidden compartment, stealing the chocolate truffles Koboi had put there. Artemis contacts Koboi through video and tricks her into triggering the bombs, destroying her ship, though she escapes, but her abandoned henchmen aid in her capture.
The Lost Colony[]
Artemis and Bulter were tracking demons. A demon grabbed Artemis into a time warp, but Butler, who was wearing silver, pulled Artemis back . The group met up with Holly in Italy in time to see another demon, N1, get captured by Minerva Paradizo and her bodyguard Billy Kong. The group went to France to rescue N1. Afterwards, Kong betrayed Minerva. The group managed to rescue Minverva. They were chased by Kong and his men, whom Butler defeated, however, a bomb was brought to them. Artemis and Holly and N1 took the bomb to Hybris and managed to bring back Hybris and save the demons, 3 years into the future. Butler reuinited with Artemis and informed him Artemis' parents gave birth to twins.
The Time Paradox[]
Angeline got sick with Spelltropy. Butler went to find a healer while Artemis and Holly went back in time to rescue a lemur, which contained the cure, from Past Artemis and Butler. The group was instantly captured by Past Artemis and Bulter, who brought them to the zoo. Artemis and Holly escaped, however, Past Artemis and Butler recaptured the lemur. The group tracked Past Artemis and Butler, who tricked them and sold Holly to Damon Kronski. However, Past Butler regretted this and went back to help the group escape. When Artemis and Holly returned to the future, they were confronted by present Butler, who was controlled by Opal Koboi. Butler resisted and had a heart attack, and was defibrillated by past Artemis. Past and Present Artemis managed to defeat Koboi.
The Atlantis Complex[]
Artemis developed Atantis Complex and became paranoid, so he tricked Butler into trying to rescue Juliet in Mexico. In Mexico, Butler and Holly were attacked by Turnball root's minions. They escaped, with the help of Mulch, and met of with Artemis. The group was captured by Turnball, but managed to escape and defeat him.
The Last Guardian[]
Artemis and Butler were in Haven when Opal Koboi destroyed most of the world's technology and managed to resurrect an army of ancient dairy warriors to wipe out humanity. Artemis, Holly, and Butler returned to Fowl manor and fought against the Fairies. Butler helped them defeat many of their enemies but was shocked by a dark magic blast from Koboi, permanently crippling his heart. After Koboi was defeated and Artemis was apparently killed, Butler helped Holly resurrect Artemis.
Fowl Twins[]
About seven years after, Artemis and Butler traveled to Mars.
