Doubleheader is a minor character in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. He was part of the second wave of Pretenders released in 1989.
Marvel Comics[]
Doubleheader first appeared in Issue #61 of the Marvel US comic among the Autobots serving Emirate Xaaron on Cybertron. He oversaw repairs after the Autobot base was damaged during an attack by the Decepticon Mayhem Squad. He reappeared in the UK-exclusive story "Whose Lifeforce Is It Anyway?", being assigned to one of the teams hunting for the Creation Matrix alongside Pincher and Longtooth.
This led into his main Marvel US appearance in Issue #64, where the trio headed to the planet Gottlieb to investigate the reappearance of the legendary Klud. Doubleheader, who had taken to conversing with his separate heads, speculated that the Klud had been revived by the Creation Matrix. However, Longtooth was injured in an encounter with the creature and left unhinged, determined to hunt and kill it. Doubleheader and Pincher set out to stop him but found him already under attack from Thunderwing's Decepticons. Doubleheader took on Spinister and Needlenose while Pincher talked Longtooth down, and was only saved from destruction when Thunderwing recalled the pair, having found another clue to the Matrix's whereabouts.
The post-movie version of Doubleheader appeared in Marvel UK's Dark Rodimus arc, as part of the large group of Autobots under Rodimus Prime's command evacuating Cybertron for Earth. En route, Rodimus Prime was possessed by Unicron, whose spirit was encased in the Matrix, and caused their ship to crash. Doubleheader and Hosehead attempted to challenge the possessed Rodimus in the aftermath only to be gunned down by him.
