Demolition Man[]
Friendly had made an enemy out of Cocteau by leading a resistance movement called "The Scraps" which was focused on maintaining their individual freedom while also being able to feed themselves, which resulted in them having to live in the sewers due to their refusal to abide by Cocteau's overly sanitized world.
As result Cocteau planned to use the escaped criminal Simon Phoenix to murder Friendly, it went wrong, and the authorities had to release legendary cop John Spartan to stop him. Spartan ended up underground on the hunt for Simon Phoenix that was then sent to kill Friendly but ended up liking him after hearing his perspective to Edgar Friendly and his armed followers taking on Simon Phoenix and his 2032 gang. After Cocteau is defeated following the deaths of Cocteau and Phoenix, Friendly forgives his accomplice Bob by welcoming him into his gang and agrees when Spartan suggests he work together with those he disagreed with to create a society that has the right balance of order and personal freedom.
