Edwin Murray is the overarching protagonist of the Steel Wool era of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
Starting out as a young engineer whose company was bought out of Fazbear Entertainment, Edwin would end up creating the Mimic as a playmate for his son David. After tragedy struck, Edwin lashing out led to the Mimic learning violence, and decades later, Edwin would attempt to prevent his creation from unleashing havoc.
Several years later, after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place burned. Edwin was assigned to create a Storyteller in the construction of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizza Plex. At first it went smoothly, but then StoryTeller was infected by The Mimic virus, causing Edwin to check again. Unbeknowst to him, the Mimic killed him after locked him under Tiger Rock persona.

- Edwin somewhat shares similarities with Henry Emily.
- Both of them had beloved children who tragically died. In these cases; Charlie was killed by William Afton, while David Murray died in an car crash accident while playing.
- Both of them created sophisticated animatronics to accompany their children, while they were busy working. Henry creates Security Puppet to protect Charlie, while Edwin creates The Mimic to entertaining his beloved son.
- Both of them also died, and have their souls reunited with their children in afterlife. Henry died after burns the Freddy Fazbear Pizza Place to set everyone souls free, while Edwin was brutally killed by his own creation under Tiger Rock persona.
