It doesn't hurt to help!
~ Eek's mantra.
Kumbaya!
~ One of Eek's catchphrases.

Eek the Cat is the titular protagonist of the animated show of the same name. He is a a kind, purple, anthropomorphic cat who's always friendly, willing to help, and is eternally optimistic, even when the world seems to be actively against him, and it often is quite mean-spirited. His motto is that "It never hurts to help!", although, with Eek this is frequently not the case.

He is voiced by Bill Kopp.

Appearance[]

Eek is a chubby cat. His fur is purple. His ears are not pointed; rather, they are curved and resemble short antennae or dog ears. The fur on his belly is a lighter shade of purple, with his nose conversely being a darker, more pinkish shade. His whiskers are strangely not straight; rather, they are wavy.

Personality[]

Eek is a wholesome, kind-hearted, nervous, neurotic, upbeat, talkative, wise, nature-loving and well-meaning cat who often puts "gee" into his sentences.

He is always friendly, is usually seen smiling most of the time, shows cowardice whenever a overwhelming/unplesant situation happens when his obliviousness has landed him in trouble more than once even though he isn't that much of an idiot, has a strong fear of bugs, and despite all of these qualities, he is nevertheless willing to help others whenever they need it, and will rally to victory for the sake of his girlfriend, family, and friends.

Eek has an optimistic outlook in life, even when the world tends to be actively against him. His mantra is "It never hurts to help!". It's not helping that his extremely idealistic attitude even in bad situations would make Eek seem odd— yet he also lives with owners that are complete idiots, his girlfriend can be hyper clingy, Sharky is a hyper hostile bully, Elmo is a coward, and Mittens is constantly paranoid, so he manages to look normal compared to his allies and family.

He is the epitome of a benevolent altruist whose compassion allows him to see the good in anything and anyone regardless of circumstance, as he always puts others' safety, needs, and comfort before his own, which usually results in him being a victim of violent happenstances and more likely to be stuck in predicaments. Eek can talk with all animals and most humans, but oddly enough cannot converse with his owners— Mom, Wendy Elizabeth and J.B in the same way Garfield does with Jon Arbuckle.

He commonly exclaims "Kumbaya!". The major running gag within the show is that Eek's selfless nature usually gets him caught up in painfully accident-prone situations such as getting caught in mail and baggage sorters, while he screams "Oh gosh it hurts!" while the show's guitar riff theme played.

He also happens to be considerably charismatic in the show since he somehow manages to attract plenty of women in the show (possibly due to his compassionate and altruistic behavior and actions), but he only has eyes for Annabelle.

Despite Eek's constant misfortunes and being often afraid of being thrown into situations against his will, the episodes would usually end with Eek rewarded in some way for facing the adversity squarely, showing some bravery and being selfless towards others. His love interest is Annabelle, and he is strong enough to carry her despite her being much bigger than Eek (and he seems to be oblivious of her heavy weight despite how evident it is).

As much of a likable, discreet, thoughtful and cordial cat he is, there are occasions where he isn't afraid to stand up for himself.
