This morning, mister butler brought me some tasty treats. They were, um… macarons? And I ate them! And they were all fluffy and sweet…
~ Efina in the novel.

Efina is the main protagonist and the mascot of the LiEat series. She serves as one of the two main protagonists (alongside Theobald Leonheart) in LiEat trilogy and the prequel novel LiEat: The Lie-Eating Dragon and the Forgotten-Color Songstress.

She is a child dragon, who was conceived from a con artist known as Theobald Leonhart, through his own wish to eat and remove all lies, where she later treats him as his own surrogate father. As a result, she grows a close bond with him and joins on their ventures, as well as stopping the creatures known as "Lies".

Like Theo, Efina's appearance and personality changes over the course of the entire series.

Appearance[]

LiEat I[]

She wears a blue ribbon, blue earmuffs, and has her blonde hair pulled back. She also has on a little purple coat that is fastened with a blue ribbon. She is dressed in a white frilly dress with pink buttons and purple gloves. Green shoes and black pants are also on her feet.

She is not wearing her ribbon when Leo awakens her in the morning when the cops have arrived, and her hair is barely below her shoulders.

LiEat II[]

Efi has longer hair now, which she wears in twintails that extend past her shoulders. She is dressed in a blue sailor suit with gold stripes down the front and two sets of diamond buttons in between, a white tie in the shape of a diamond, and blue earmuffs, yet it also looks like she is wearing a blue hat with a feather adornment.

She is dressed in blue strips of fabric with a gold stripe running through them. She also has three black belts with golden buckles on her black knee-high boots, which have white and green stripes.

LiEat III[]

Efina has altered her appearance once more, but this time she has left her hair free and coloured it a more pinkish orange. Efina has also developed much since she initially appeared at the age of five, although her eyes remain the same blue-pink colour they do in every game. She has straightened her hair past her back and only has two crossed black hairpins on either side of her head. She has a black hair ribbon on her head that makes her look like she has rabbit ears.

Efina is dressed in a sleeveless, mostly black dress with a pleated bottom. The garment has two white buttons put on at the waist and what looks to be a second layer with black and white stripes and lace stitched on the ends towards the bottom. The white collar on her dress is fastened on both sides with a mint green ribbon and two coal black buttons. Although the garment itself has no sleeves, Efina is dressed in black fingerless gloves with fluffy fur trim that extend just over her elbows. Efina also has identical black boots with white trim and two white diamond-shaped embellishments that are just below her knees.

Efina still wears the same clothes in the neutral ending, but she grows older—from five to about the age of a teenager—and is eventually seen to be able to extend both her wings and her ears, rather than just one. Additionally, her wings are more ornate than they were for the rest of the game.

LiEat Novel[]

Although Efina's hair is let free, just two locks make it to her holders. She appears to have rabbit ears because of the red hairbow she is wearing.

She is dressed in a ruffled brown shirt with white sleeves that reach her elbows and a red bow on the front that covers her neck but leaves her stomach exposed. On top of that is a blue waistcoat that resembles a corset and is held together with black threads and a gold rim.

Personality[]

LiEat I[]

Efina is a joyful and carefree young girl. She frequently exhibits hyperactivity and excitement, much to Theo's early chagrin. She occasionally uses the second person to talk about herself. She usually grills Teo extensively because she wants to know why he lies so often. She exhibits compassion and caring for all she meets despite being so young and occasionally careless.

When the occasion demands it, she is capable of becoming serious. She realises that she must eat Lies for Keith Rigfire as he succumbs to delusion.

LiEat II[]

Efina is still the same happy and carefree girl as LiEat I, but now that she is more conscious of her surroundings, she is more worried about individuals who are close to her, especially Teo, because she is beginning to distinguish between his lies and those of other lies.

She seems to have a better comprehension of the world, and her queries start to get more complicated. She no longer questions herself while swallowing lies and will try her best to assist the others.

LiEat III[]

Efina is still the same happy girl, but she has grown to be more compassionate and aware, especially regarding her own power and how far she may use it. She appears to have slightly grown since she is now able to recognise the gravity of a situation and respond appropriately.

She also has her own thoughts and can put them together to solve various challenges. Additionally, she has adopted the determination to aid Theo, never giving up to become stronger, and is willing to confront her anxieties in order to defend the people she loves.

LiEat Novel[]

Efina has a typically similar, innocent, and childlike disposition to that in the first game. She was just born, therefore Theo finds it annoying because she continually wonders and has a lot of questions.

Abilities[]

LiEat I[]

Efina's primary talent is the capacity to materialise and consume others' lies. When dealt with, these lies take the form of monsters that repeat what the liar has said in a warped voice. However, if a liar makes several claims, and some of them turn out to be genuine, those claims will also appear and cannot be eaten since they taste "gross." Efina has the power to physically attack the lies before consuming them.

She cannot, however, swallow every lie. When a person is overcome by lies, the region is inundated by lie monsters, either larger ones that are screwed up and are numerous lie monsters fused together or tiny ones that Efi cannot devour.

When Keith Rigfire is engulfed by lies, she is able to save him.

True to her own nickname, Efina is a dragon that can extend one horn and one set of wings at a time. These horns and wings are extremely "wonky" in shape and rapidly exhaust Efi. She is also capable of exhaling ferocious fire gouts.

She isn't especially intelligent, though, and is easily duped. Additionally illiterate, she occasionally has difficulty pronouncing difficult words, even after being informed what they are.

LiEat II[]

Efina has better control over her dragon nature because of her ability to extend both her wings and horns. which are perfectly formed, yet she quickly becomes exhausted by this.

She isn't especially intelligent, though, and is easily duped. She spells her name "Efana" instead of "Efina" since she has problems reading and writing. Additionally, she occasionally has difficulty pronouncing difficult words, even after being told the term.

LiEat III[]

Efina now has more control over her skills, demonstrating a better understanding of them by being able to spot lies without Theo's assistance and generally knowing how to act in order to make a lie solidify. Even though her power was unstable at the time, she had grown powerful enough to absorb all the lies that had been stalking Thei for years when he was abducted by them, thus sparing him and the city from corruption.

Efina can now reason more rationally and link several cues to get to a conclusion on her own. She's also picked up correct reading techniques, however she still has trouble with words that are complex.

LiEat Novel[]

Efi's primary talent is to manifest and devour other people's lies, which is similar to the first three LiEat games. These lies take the form of monsters. However, if a liar makes several claims, and some of them turn out to be genuine, those claims will also appear and cannot be eaten since they taste "bad." Efi has the power to physically assault the lies before consuming them. When Mischa is engulfed by lies, she is able to save her.

As a dragon, Efi can extend one horn and one set of wings at a time, although they are quite "wonky" in shape and exhaust her rapidly. She is also capable of exhaling ferocious fire gouts.
