Elena Kimberlight is one of the main female protagonists of the Japanese Light Novel Franchise Vermeil in Gold. She is the student council president of the Royal Ortigia Magic Academy. She is widely the strongest of all students including her fellow councils.
She was voiced by Kana Hanazawa, who also voiced Kanade Tachibana in Angel Beats in Japanese and Genevieve Simmons in English.
Overview[]
Elena is a gold square mage of the Royal Ortigia Magic Academy. She is a mature, intelligent and quite agile student. She is the president of the student council and the strongest of all gold square mages
After Alto Goldfield defeated Chris Westland (one of the members of the student council and the strongest dragon summoner), she developed an interest of Alto and shown awe of both him and Vermeil as mage and familiar. After Obsidian revealed his crime and betrayal by experimenting students, Elena brought Alto into the student council's hall. Elena revealed to Alto and Vermeil that Obsidian had escaped from prison. When wanted the truth, Elena and her two members (except Chris who is already aware of Vermeil as a devil) learned that Vermeil's true identity as a devil as well for Elena of realizing of the demon's heart. Elena recruited Alto as a member of the Student Council when she has no intention of getting him expelled due to her and her fellow council's distrust for the other staff members when the culprit was Obsidian.
After the Platinum Mage invasion, Elena tells Alto that they will be up against either the military or the Platinum Mages when they swore to protect the students and their familiars.

Elena is a beautiful woman with a platinum blond hair and blue eyes. She wore a blue student uniform for girls.
Personality[]
Elena is described as mature, intelligent and quite agile. She is quite popular due to her beauty and charisma. She is also the strongest of the gold mages, as anyone who fought her is defeated.
When she learned that Chris Westland was defeated by Alto Goldfield and his familiar Vermeil, Elena was surprised and awed by the connection between Alto and Vermeil as a mage and familiar. Due to Obsidian's betrayal, Elena doesn't trust any staff members to begin with. She is willing to offer Alto to join the student council since she learned Alto has a devil as his familiar. Due to her distrust for staff member from Obsidian's betrayal, She has no intention to have Alto expelled from the academy when she said all familiars are treated equally, even for devils despite them being the swore enemies of humanity. Shown her mature, she quickly forgiven Alto for his accidental entering while she is changing due to her forgotten to lock the door. The reason why she recruited Alto to the Student Council is because she desired him and unlike her subordinate Jessica Schwarz, she has no desire of objecting Alto from joining the council due to Jessica's dimwittedness and paranoia.
It is implied that Elena has developed a romantic feeling for her newly subordinate of the student council, Alto Goldfield despite being older than him. She is shown to be a yandere when even Vermeil senses her "scary" aura. She shown admiration of Alto's determination.
Abilities[]
- Immense Swordsmanship: As the strongest of all students, Elena has a tremendous swordsmanship skills. She easily overpowering a monster (created by the Platinum Mage and her future archenemy, Kohakumiya) who is assisting Obsidian.
- Intelligent: Elena is an intelligent woman when she knows Obsidian has escaped from prison. She knows of Alto's pact with Vermeil as the "Demon's Heart". After the Platinum Mages' Invasion, Elena tells Alto that they will face either the military or the Platinum Mages who would learn Vermeil's identity as the Devil.
