Ellie Spicer is a supporting hero in Criminal Minds season 5 and 6. She is the daughter of Matt Spicer, who is murdered by sadistic killer Billy Flynn.
Biography[]
Ellie, born in 2002, was the daughter of LAPD Detective Matt Spicer, a known survivor of serial killer Billy Flynn. Her upbringing remained largely private, though it was known that her parents had separated and, during her father’s absences for work, she was looked after by his sister, Kristin.
Our Darkest Hour[]
In 2010, Billy returned to California after reading news stories about Matt and Ellie. He believed he was responsible for Ellie’s existence because she would not have been born if he had not spared Matt. Billy began a new series of home invasion murders similar to his earlier crimes. He later abducted both Ellie and her aunt Kristin and brought them to the house where he had murdered Matt and Kristin's parents over twenty-five years earlier. He lured Matt to the same location and overpowered Matt’s partner, Derek Morgan, using Ellie as leverage to force Matt to surrender. With everyone held captive in the bedroom, Billy executed Matt and fled with Ellie, just after Matt made Morgan promise to protect her.
The Longest Night[]
Billy attempted to form a partnership with Ellie, cutting her hair short to disguise her from law enforcement and taking her along on his next home invasion. After shooting the husband, he instructed Ellie to go to the children’s room, bring one of the sons to the bedroom, and then tie up the mother. Ellie followed his orders but secretly told the other son to alert the neighbors. When Billy noticed a family photo showing two boys instead of one, he realized something was wrong and returned to the bedroom. After discovering Ellie’s actions, he took her to the house’s garage, stole a car, and fled with her. Later, Billy received a message from JJ through the state emergency broadcast system. She managed to convince him to release Ellie, while Billy committed suicide by cop later. Afterward, Morgan reunited with Ellie and informed her that Kristin had succumbed from the rape and torture inflicted on her by Billy
Safe Haven[]
After being adopted by a foster family, she talks to Morgan with text messages and mentions that she now likes soccer and is friends with a girl named Jill. In the episode, Ellie flees from her foster home by using her foster mother's credit card to buy a plane ticket to Virginia. Once there, she sought out Morgan and reveals that her foster family is awful. Among other things, one of the older boys kept trying to spy on her in the shower and none of the family members even noticed that she was gone. In the end, the foster parents' negligence leads to them losing custody of her. After the arrest of Jeremy Sayer, a young serial killer, Morgan helps Ellie reconnect with her biological mother, who has agreed to take her into her custody, and Ellie thanks him for his help.
