Ellie Williams is the deuteragonist of the HBO television series The Last of Us, based on the video game franchise of the same name.
She is a 14-year-old girl who displays much defiance and anger but has a private need for kinship and belonging. She is immune to the Cordyceps infection and may be the key to creating a vaccine.
She is portrayed by Bella Ramsey, who also played Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and the titular character in Hilda, and voiced Molly in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.
Biography[]
Ellie is a teenage girl who was born about five years after the pandemic and was sent to military boarding school when her mother died. When the series picks up, she's been recently bitten by an infected while sneaking out with her best friend Riley. However, after three weeks she's yet to turn. This catches the attention of the Fireflies who want to smuggle her out of the QZ to take her out west where a team is working on a vaccine.
Personality[]
Ellie is a lot more confrontational and abrasive compared to the game, especially towards Joel. This includes having a greater penchant towards violence. Once she and Joel start to bond, her characterization becomes more similar to the game's continuity. She quickly takes on a nurturing role towards the eight-year-old Sam when she meets him, playing with him and bonding over their shared love of comics, and, when he confides his fears to her, trying to make him feel better with a joke before honestly reciprocating.
